:sigh: YJDK
If you’d ever been to MoMo you would know what I’m talking about.
Also, lol @ “made up rivalry”.

All depends on where you’re staying and how far our you’re willing to drive then.
Right by Momo’s (which does have good food, so that would be the first obvious choice) you’ve got more chain stuff, some of which is good, but not a lot unique.
If you go about 5 minutes West to High Street you’ve got miles of good stuff, anything from little danks with bar food to high end more formal places.
I’ll have to refresh my memory on what exactly is on the portion of High near the venue.
I doubt daigo thinks of Justin in any special way, he’s just another good player. Justin might consider daigo his rival, but I hope not because he is just one of many good players from Japan.
But, I don’t care either way because it’s basically ruining a tourney I wanted to go to.
this dude is legit, fadc coverage is auto-win for the event and all the players entering. tourney directors should recommend local talent for commentary wingmen though… =X
The reason it’s a rivalry to the fans is because the two have met in the finals of two major championships in the last six months. And the second meeting was one of the most memorable finals ever.
The fact that they could potentially meet in another final at SBIV, along with the main event (which is for money I believe?) is what adds to the excitement.
I’m sure they both respect each other a ton, but in this case what they think of each other has nothing to do with whether it’s a rivalry or not.
Larry Bird and Magic Johnson could have hated the hell out of each other, and considered each other their greatest foe, but if they didn’t get to the finals and play each other for three championships nobody would have given a shit.
How is this ruining the tourney? It’s fucking Daigo vs Justin. That’s like, bang for your buck.
good shit…seb has some of the highest quality vids around!! hope youre covering.
Agreed. Their bulgogi is the shit. I love me some Korean food.
I’m not sure I agree with this, but rivalry is an English word and therefore open to interpretation since English is so weird… I do agree that it will be most excellent to see them meet again. We need a designated and reliable bookie for this one… (yeah yeah betting’s illegal… such a stupid law)
Also, agreed.
Lastly, the paypal doohicky goes up today right? When should I be getting back online? I wanna make sure I get in under the cap or w/e.
Edit: Just remembered, I was wondering, if I initially sign up for BB and SFIV and pay and everything, how hard is it to add a game later? Should I be absolutely sure about what I want before signing up?
Well, I should have said potentially, only cuz I think this event is going to push the venue into over crowded status. Maybe it would already be there without this event.
Momo’s max occupancy is 400, having never been there I am mostly talking out of my ass about some things, but I really do not want to go all the way to Ohio and the venue is wall to wall bodies.
I’m quoting this man because of the small hope that there will be a stream.
And probably the most interesting thing to wonder about the Daigo announcement is the impact he’ll have on the event. Is his name powerful enough that the tournament will need to be capped and that the venue will stay packed because people are also there to watch him play. I think he will have that kind of impact, but we don’t know yet till it happens.
Well, what ARE you talking about? What makes this venue sooo great that the tourney should be insanely cramped or possibly capped because of it? It’s one thing when small tourneys end up bigger than expected and it ends up short on space. When you’re shooting for major status, you need to have capacity to match.
You KC cats have made multiple posts saying you don’t want to travel to a major tournament in Ohio; you aren’t interested in two of the world’s best players doing a never-before-seen exhibition in the most hype game; you don’t care if the venue is unparalled – so that’s cool you’ve said your peace, and if you have any questions we’d be happy to answer them. I don’t see what questions you’re looking to get answered though. MoMo’s capacity is not 400; no one is going to sit here and argue with you page after page why you should show up. The people that know SB already know – if you don’t take anyone’s word for it, don’t scope the pictures, don’t scope our vids, then you don’t want to be convinced otherwise. We’re presenting the facts and the hype and everyone is free to decide whether it’s worth the trip for them.
Stream: we said multiple times that the SB will most likely be streamed if MoMo’s Internet can do it. I’ve already made plans with someone who’s proven they can handle it. Daigo vs. Justin will not, nor will any other special event.
GG/BB: I have no idea how rumors start, but of course GG and BB are not side tournaments. They’ve been confirmed as main games for months. BB is hugely popular – running it as a side tournament would be incredibly foolish. And after GG’s tournament last year we’re been clear about giving 100% to the GG scene.
We advise people if you have legitimate questions about us, the tournament, or MoMo’s, ask people who’ve been to SB or just ask us straight up.
Capacity: FR capped SFIV at 256 people – I fail to see what’s wrong with this. If we decide that it’s the best interest of a speedy + smooth event we’ll do what we have to make shit run well. We can make this call within days of the tournament; it’s nothing for anyone to be concerned with now
Bottom line is pre-reg early – you’re spot will be guaranteed and you’ll have more favorable placing in your brackets.
If we ever moved MoMo’s we’d need a place that offers as much or more, bottom line. We haven’t found it yet. We have more space within MoMo’s and a better layout this year. MoMos as it was last year still had more physical space than multiple well-thought-of venues I’ve been to, by a large factor.
lol we might make up a floorplan in advance if that’ll make people feel better. I’m sure it will get flak no matter what but maybe it would help some visualize what we’re doing.
Just keep doin what you do. Don’t worry too much about it.
No, we want to travel to a major tourney in Ohio, but just trying to figure out if it’s gonna be over crowded or w/e.
Appreciate you being civil and answering questions.
Max Occ. of 400 is what they said when we asked them cuz we were curious.
I dunno why they gave you that – might be because that isn’t taking into account when we move the pool tables/rearrange the place.
It’ll be crowded – every major I’ve been to outside of maybe 2 ever were bodies bodies in the games area. Momo’s is 10,000 sq. ft., a pretty large place. lol people don’t remember what ECC was like at the Break …
No prob – if there’s anything to cover I’ll gladly do it, but not sure what else to clarify
OOOOOOHHHHH, SNAP, SON!!! That there was roofless!!! I like how you had a clever lead-in there. For a sec, I was like, “Well…honestly, I don’t know much about nu- Awwwww, I see what he did there!!! He was implying that I hug on Daigo’s nuts!!!” I like it, bro. I like it. Nah, honestly, I don’t know too much about huggin’ on nuts, but it’s a topic I’ve always wanted to learn more about. Is there any chance you could show a noob like me a thing or two about how to really show some testie-love? I’m a gentleman: I’ll shave for you and everything. You can even pick which cologne I’ll wear. It’s between D&G Light Blue or Burberry Brit. Personally, I’ve always liked the Brit…
Ghaleon: can you double-check and see if I’m registered already? I’m pretty sure I did, but I want to be 100%. I made it to the 4th page before giving up my search.
That really clears up some confusion as many of us thought that there was no stream at all. It sucks that we can’t see the special exhibition, but hopefully we’ll see the one that counts the most. Well that’s if Daigo and Justin make it to the grand finals and there is a stream(crosses fingers).
btw we’re still working on Paypal integration – we really wanted this to coincide with the Daigo update, but we’re tweaking the site still. Just another day or two and the deluge can begin!
Starting to wonder if some sort of setup can be made in the parking lot. Hell, it’s OSU, tailgaters have done more elaborate setups. But seriously.
I think in order to do something like that we would need to talk to the land owner or whatever they’re called. I don’t know when, but eventually permits get involved… yuk!
