I agree, SB is the biggest event in Columbus dedicated to electronic gaming. While the tournaments remain the biggest and primary draw, it’s becoming more then that. Exhibition matches, casual play, trading, and so on. I can see room for other features such as vendors, video/movie screening, and more. Hell, I was talking with DSSingleCard.com yesterday, and they might be interested in showing up with their program.
The point is that there’s a growing social aspect to SB beyond the money matches and whatnot. Show up. Have fun. Make it grow.
We won’t really have any announcements until after Evo. Like we said we will probably run KoF as well, but we won’t announce either way till we see what the game and the scene are like.
Along those lines, Fugee and I decided that Marvel will be run on DREAMCAST. The PSN ver got pushed back, so Evo is doing DC – players are not junking their DC sticks/converters yet. The colors and custom mixes are extra incentive. Plenty of DCs are around.
The main reason is that BB is FOR SURE added, and if KoF is thrown in, that’s an *absurd *amount of games running on Playstation 3 (We aren’t dealing with 360s and stick issues.) One game running on a different system, a port that’s already perfect as is, is a huge help to SB.
We’re going to try to get a stream up. Devastation set a great standard and we think it’s a fantastic idea. I won’t say 100% right now because I don’t know how it works, but yeah, we talked about getting one up on our main station at least.
agreed, also could check and see if it’s possible to get a wired connection ran to the computer being used to stream. trying to do anything traffic heavy on a public wi-fi connection = fail.
I’m sure this place will be down for making sure you can do this if at all possible.
I’m sure it’ll end up being Marvel or SF4. I’d LOVE to see BlazBlue be the main event, but I’m sure more people will want to see the former two over BB.
To expound upon this, if you can set up a webserver somewhere else that has enough bandwidth to support people viewing, then you can have just that server connect to the stream from momo’s and then broadcast out.
I’m not too well-versed about it but my suggestion is to worry about more important things related to the event. Results and match videos will show up regardless, a live stream only matters to people outside of the event. Catering to them is nice, but I wouldn’t make it a priority.
Especially because you could set it up and something could go wrong with it, and it’s one more thing for people to complain about.
Let’s talk charity. What are we supporting this year other than our wallets?
I was thinking that in addition to the canned food drive from days of old, we also have a game drive. There are a lot of needy kids out there that don’t have games or the ability to get them. We could have a game donation bin and donate that to a/some local orphanages or something. I know I have a few extra games I don’t play/care about enough that I would gladly give away so it’ll stop collecting dust.
I really like this idea. Good stuff. I even have a few systems I could give out too.
As for the live stream, Devestation used www.ustream.com and probably a Dazzle recorder. I have used these both to live stream Brawl. I think you can stream High Def if you get a premium account, otherwise the free ustream is “meh” quality.
I can show you guys how I do it in person sometime in the near future, just hit me up on AIM or PM me.
