I’ll check out a unit’s instruction manual to see what capabilities they have. The mechanics have a few still in boxes in their office, and they don’t mind. The video recording part is okay, but audio recording and real-time audio transmission remotely, that seems a little fucked up, and I can’t find any legal basis for audio surveillance, remote or otherwise, without informing those it affects.
But the thing is, barring the legalities aside, why does it bother you so much? Do you bad mouth your coworkers or the company in the vehicle on the clock? are you on the phone doing deals? Are you ubering in the company vehicle on the clock? @RockBogart thats actually a good idea for surging dat cash flow, look into it.
Hell no, no shenanigans that I know of going on (in MY division…). We got a guy who couldn’t cut it physically so he’s now somehow an assistant (higher pay, desk job, own pc, nothing physically demanding) who hands out assignments. Problem is his time management sucks just as bad as his physical abilities. He’ll try to give you a job that’s an hour away…15 minutes before it’s time to go home, with the ticket dated 2 days in the future. He’d try to do the same to someone who already put in notice that they have to leave early that day for an appointment, because even though we’re supposed to inform him of such things, he always forgets or misplaces the paperwork. So yeah, his ass gets talked about.
Anywho, update: turns out that video was from an sd card from last tuesday. The guys who used that vehicle were coincidentally wearing the same jacket (driver) and tshirt (passenger) both days, and driving the same vehicle that day as well, which was fitted with a new sd card while the old one was being reviewed, so the video seemed to be a live feed. That day they pulled onto the side of the road and hit a curb hard enough to set off the vehicle’s impact sensor, so the card was pulled for review. Mucho relieved.
Nah, after looking into it, I’m satisfied that things are okay. I was concerned over almost nothing. Wish we could still close or delete our own threads. Friggin vbulletin.
If you want me to, then I’ll close the thread since you can’t. I’d rather avoid deleting it since the forum can be screwy enough without affecting people’s post counts en masse; I wouldn’t be surprised if it caused something to briefly crash even though this thread isn’t big.
