i saw some top player doing Mk axe kick cr. lk st. lp sweep he didn’t hit it but it looked like he was trying to hit the light punch meaty so that it it could combo

Wow, seems like E Ryu can combo into sweep with certain meaty setups. far jab jab sweep works on Cody and Abel I know for sure but it’s excruciatingly difficult. It’s quite amazing to see some of the japs try it in a match.
Don’t know if this has been mentioned before, but why don’t more E Ryu players use cl.mp xx med. axe kick etc. off of his dive kick?
It’s much better damage (288 for cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mp xx lk.tatsu, hp srk and for other combo it’s 347), so I’m just curious. =)
Is it still possible to combo lk tatsu into sweep? Just saw a replay of naga on ytube, but wasn’t sure if that was just AE, not 2k12.
The cancel window for cl. MP is pretty lenient. A special cancelled too late would be open to mashed reversals.
Of course, now that you mention it, an airtight cl. MP xx MK Axe Kick is a pretty safe hitconfirm that’s -2 on block and does 30 chip damage. The whole thing hinges on canceling cl. MP as quickly as possible though.
The only way I can think of to get out of it that isn’t a 0-2f grab or Chun’s super is to reversal directly after the blocked divekick.
I don’t use it because I can hit confirm and guarantee a standing opponent with c.LP > c.HP from a dive kick. I only use it on Blanka since the aforementioned combo whiffs on him.
I do plan on using it in FADC combos though since you can get a ton of damage off of it. It really hasn’t been explored like that though.

I wish people wouldn’t include a jumping attack in a combo. Makes the damage deceptive.

Does 404 damage. I will run through again and make sure I didn’t link a cr. lp somewhere, but the damage would be about the same save a point or two.
It’s a long combo so the scaling is large as the cr mp>Bnb is 388 damage. Using 2 ex bars and worrying about dropping it with the 4-5 1f links I’d say it’s more flashy, but if you want a punish it’s there.

So axe kick FADC combos are basically just better than fireball FADC combos, especially since they work midscreen. I think they do more stun too.
Also I tested the damage on the axe kick FADC combo with a cr.mp beforehand: 443
Sounds much better and simpler to land. I want to do cl. hp lk axe kick FADC cl. mp> bnb.
Tougher, but it should deal good damage. It’s a 1f FADC link though. Very tight.
Also the fact that you can combo off a lk axe kick FADC is HUGE for Evil Ryu’s ground game. You can get 407 damage off a cr.mk at any range now.

Time to hit the lab. Little discoveries like this make him more viable. Being able to combo off of far mp, and cr. mk for huge damage at long ranges makes him deadlier.
I don’t know if this has been mentioned but did you guys know you can bnb off of a low short without meter? This means you can do 321 damage off of a low attack! No cost required.

Try it out. Outstanding damage from a quick, fast, low hitting poke.
You do have to be up close of course. The timing on it is pretty easy as cr. lp> cl hp seems to be more lenient than cr. mp> cl hp. You can probably do it in no time.

cr. lk> cl. lp> cl. hp xx mk axe kick> cr mp xx lk tatsu xx shoryuken.

The standing lp can be done faster, making it easier to space for cl.hp. Some characters are harder to hit with this than others. I’ve tested it a bit, and the harder ones seem to be:

And here I thought I was so cool only to check the forums moments after I make a video and realize it’s been discovered already. Evil Ryu is so fun to play. I’ve been trying to master his crouch medium karate throw, 100 more hours of practice til I will be able to use it against [S]the training dummy[/S] a semi good player.
