Saskatchewan Thread 2013

there’s no way you can remember them all ric your memory isn’t that good
noone’s is

I’m not attending this one tournament. Therefore I have lost the right to post on sask forums.

Ric has had more ‘sock’ SRK accounts due to repeated banning than 99% of people have on all websites combined. He has every right to post here.

It happened ages ago guys. Like, days and days ago. It was barely even in April the last time Ric flew off the handle at someone in this thread.

I’d have no problems paying 20$ for a real tournament. That’s not what this is going to be. 20$ is what it costs to sign up for most majors.

I’d gladly come to any university event that Ric wasn’t welcome at. Post the info.

We keep hearing the same response from you over and over again…if your not gonna show up to a upcoming tournament which is what we are all discussing then why bother posting.

Alright! The venue fee has been confirmed at $10 a head upon registration. Unfortunately, to keep it at that, and no higher, registration must be kept to 6:30-6:55 in order to not take up too much of the venue’s time. And because of this, you can get in a few casuals before the tourney begins, but expect there only to be casuals after a game’s tournament has ended.

As for set ups needed, the only thing that is required right now, is a gamecube, and a copy of Melee, SF4, and Marvel. That will be all. If you could let me know via this thread if you could bring any one of those things, that’d be greatly appreciated.

Why don’t we reduce the entrant fee since the venue fee is high. Does anyone really care that much about winning a few extra dollars

I won’t be coming regardless because I’m taking my girlfriend to a concert that night. I hope my suggestions are taken into consideration though, with regards to overpricing, location, and the allowed attendance of known problems with a history of single handedly dismantling fighting game scenes due to their fragile ego and poor social skills. Hopefully I’ll be able to make the next one.

Understood. I’ll be taking a new venue into consideration after this tournament, as the rates are pretty steep. Reminder that a copy of each game is required, and now, due to some issues with one of the suppliers of a gamecube not attending, two gamecubes are now needed for the tournament tomorrow. Apart from that, practice up, and I hope to see you there.

any saskatoon people playing injustice? game is fun.

sorry can’t make it up to the tournament unless someone from here is driving.

complainers are going to complain. 10 dollar venue fee is what i had before; if it’s the best you can do, it’s the best you can do. 20 dollars to play your game is not asking THAT much. I feel you here, it’s difficult to find a good venue.

i dont want to pile on, but i hope you have adequate setups to run a tourney

if youre asking for copies of games/consoles because you dont have enough…thats not good. as a TO you need to provide all the equipment, and ask for extra stuff to make things go smoother. if you can’t supply your own tournament you shouldn’t run it until you secure all of the equipment

I understand. But unfortunately, I’m a student, and I just don’t have the resources to provide all this equipment, which is why I’ve chosen Hi-Tech in the first place, seeing as they do have Xbox360s, and monitors to work with. I’m providing my own games, as well as my own Xbox, but I just don’t have the money to purchase these games and consoles. I’m aware that I am asking for a lot, and hopefully it doesn’t turn people away. I will have more time for the next tournament to plan, organize equipment and such, seeing as this is more of a test run. A way I can get feedback, and prepare for the next event more adequately.

I’m also a student and I don’t own much of anything save my own console and games. However; I prepare my tournaments with typically two months prep time; this allows me to have all neccesary equipment planned for. Usually, our scene helps out with equipment. I know the other regina guys bring monitors. Foger/Falken from Calgary brought setups to use for the last one we had. It’s not that you have to buy everything; it’s just having plans and backup plans in case your plan A fails.

I think you should add that you are a high school student.

Edit: Dalton, I think the only reason why you can get away with a venue fee is because the venue is pretty great, also your tourneys have been well run.

Yeah, and I’m amazed at how positive and supportive the scene has been, but I just don’t have the time to prepare a tourney a few months in advance. Due to school, and other commitments, I’ve only been given a few weeks to actually plan things out. It’s all a learning experience, fortunately, and I can definitely make more sure arrangements and backups for the next tournaments.

I would rather have JeetKuenDont come to one of these things than Ric. Would probably make the atmosphere less hostile.

I am blown away that HT is charging so much and can’t even supply you with things like used copies of games/systems that they definitely have at the store.

can I borrow someone’s stick while there or should I bring mine?

I’ll be bringing a 360 stick and setup. (if JC is ok with that) If you wanna use any of my equipment I’ll be more than happy to let you, as long as you treat it with respect.

Fair enough.

Also, if I can’t find 20 bucks, can I just pay the venue fee and play casuals? Hopefully that won’t have to happen though haha

Yeah, of course (To both Losha and Mad Hatter) If we do get a few extra set ups, then casuals wouldn’t be a problem, just make sure you check in with myself or the staff before hand.
