Sfxt won’t appear complete until it’s 2nd or 3rd iteration, I say just enjoy it for what it offers now and hope for the best in the future.
Or you could just play a better game.
SFxT would have been fine if it had been released in 2008 when there was nothing else to play. There are things I like about the game, and things I dislike, I think its OK but not close to being a great game.
Capcom seems to be stuck in the mindset that it is still 2008 and that what they release is the only option to fighting gamers. They apparently fail to realize that there are actually options out there now, and there is at least one non Capcom game for any style of fighting game that any player prefers to play. Games that have a lot of work put into them.
It’s fun and I don’t mind playing it, but why dump a bunch of time into it when there are other games, new and old, that I’d rather play? Oh yeah, I forgot, that Ric frowns upon people who don’t man up and play a mainstream game.
So I was on ICQ chatting with my good buddy Daigo the other day.
He told me a legendary story from the Japan fighting game scene, back in 1990 during the debut of SF2 WW.
He wasn’t around yet, but legends fortell that a young Mexican boy named Ricardo strolled into an arcade that contained all of the current top players. He was famous for his pleather jacket and white pants that he wore daily.
One very special afternoon, this player cancelled a Ryu normal into a special move, somewhat of a 2 in 1 combo. The players referred to this technique as the Ric Cancel.
Ric later dominated the SF2 tournament scene for every iteration from then on. He retired and moved back to Mexico after winning the first national SSF2X tournament with his O Fei Long (the champion edition version).
Daigo also said that he played against another Mexican named Ric in 2010 at Canada Cup, but he was a scrub.
Now that’s what I call a story! Call it white n pleather SWAG!
oh god i lost it there.
ROFL
The one true Ric.
They say that if you input RIC after the game over screen or ending screen in arcade mode in any game past ST, every time you do a combo in Versus or Single Player, below it’ll say “Scrub” instead of “Good” or “Great” or whatever else they put there.
LOL at these last few posts.
On the topic of SFxT. I still think it’s a decent game and one worth playing. Just that it needs a little bit of tweaking. It’s obvious this game was designed for gems and for those of us not scrubby enough to just play online the game plays very differently then what the developers intended. This is why at its current state it’s timeout fighter and a very boring game in general. The game is still young and Infiltration showed us an example of how the game should be played, but that doesn’t excuse the game itself, which at its core is a very flawed one. Which is not to say the game can’t be improved upon. There needs to be a drastic change in how the game plays and I’m not really sure Capcom will bother to fix it.
I do enjoy it way more than SFIV though. I feel they improved upon the things that made me dislike SFIV (Ultras, reversal windows, FADC, untechable knock down OS vortexes) but at the same time created a very one dimensional game in the process. I do enjoy the team dynamic and am glad that it took this turn. As the game is a blast with 4 guys together, not a good game, just a fun one.
As it is I’ve already gone back to playing KOF. I’ll still play SFxT, but I have a better game to play and one that rewards me for putting in the effort.
Man Merlins post. hahaha! epic.

I am also going to put this option to the community.

As far as tourney fees, I’m thinking either 10$ a tourney, or 5$ a tourney. I’d like you guys to choose which you’d prefer, because I’d like everyone to atleast try and play as many games as possible to make this event run properly.

Thanks to Troy, and JimKim for offering me advice throughout this process, it is much appreciated.
I’d say 5 a game is good since there is already a venue fee.
Sounds awesome! I hope this is a start for some awesome things for Regina.
$5 sounds nice, especially if you plan to play multiple games. It doesn’t amount to a very large prize pool, but better to start small.
Man i’m going to get destroyed at the tournament lol
If we have time, should do a Saskatoon vs Regina Exhibitions
Doesn’t have to be for anything materialistic, just city pride.
Boooo you super gay Merlin, my Japan story is better!
Anyways since I’ll most likely only be able to come after 6pm I wi unfortunately have to miss the tourney which is very frustrating to me. Best of luck on this though and next time I’ll try to get something going in toon.
Ric, ill mm you in ST for a 20, ft5.
If I could come I would, w should make it ft10 though.
For an extra game to run, how about some BB or GG?
Why should I have to win 10 damn games just to get 20 bucks?
