successful trolls don’t invest more time than the people they’re trolling.
Haha I always did love his character too, especially since I found him very difficult to beat the first time through. Although my true inspiration was always bugs bunny…the official 1st famous troll!
Does anybody know if Ric has any actual friends?
My mom thinks I’m cool!
This thread!
I know a lot about 3rd Strike history, Ric. I also happen to play Denjin Ryu as my main in 3rd Strike. How come I’ve never heard about you legitimizing Denjin? The first 3rd Strike Ryu player who used Denjin at all seriously was Vanao. Even all the old school players (Ruu, etc) still use SA1 more often than not.
Lots of Tekken characters don’t have good anti-air… doesn’t stop Kazuya from being good, does it? Law is good because he’s an incredible tag teammate; he gets good damage off being tagged in, and he has tons of (safe on block) moves that let him tag out AND let his partner get a jump-in (!) combo on hit. He has pretty decent pokes and movement for a Tekken character, and a respectable high-low pressure game (important in a game where blocking is good). He also has a fully invincible reversal that leads to a huge combo and is -5 on block with enough pushback to not get hit by Ryu’s fierce DP. Dunno what more you want.
A good AA normal and a footsie normal that doesn’t get beat out by shoto’s, vega and like 15 other characters.
As for why you never heard of me…well let’s just say vanao got his tricks somehow;)
Sounds like you’re just getting outfootsied. Play better I guess? If you were getting outfootsied playing as Fei in SF4, then you DO really need to work on your footsies.
Oh? How did Vanao get his tricks? Do tell the story.
Law’s S.MK and S.LK get beat clean from most crouching normals and those are his best footsie tools. Even his B+MP target combo will lose to a shoto sweep and ALL of vega’s crouching normals. Even his DF+HK can be beat out by mashed jabs, and considering that even valle has done a fairly poor jump in effectively implementing those footsie tools with law I would say it has more to do with a lack of range and priority. Dan for example can be played by daigo but how likely is it he will ever outfootsie someone even half decent using a rog or rose.
The story of Vanao is my favorite tale to tell, it brings me back to that awesome summer in japan:)
Dan has underrated footsies. Also, people who play Dan just man up and use the character and play to his STRENGTHS (frame traps, dan kick mixups) rather than his weaknesses (being at ranges he doesn’t have a good button for). Maybe you should take the same approach with Law.
Hopefully you’ll have told the Vanao story in full by the time I check this thread sometime tomorrow afternoon. I’m very curious to hear it now, especially considering Vanao was never on the list of pros you met, played against, or beasted on in any other mention of this trip to Japan previously… I guess when your history is as storied as Ric’s, teaching Vanao how to use Denjin is just another Tuesday.
For vanao, the day I graced his arcade and taught him the true way of the denjin it was the greatest day of his life but for me it was tuesday.
You never heard of this because Ric is lying. He never started playing 3s until 2004.
Yeah, it was a rhetorical question. I was still hoping Ric would try to tell me a story. All I got was “man, the story is awesome, I love telling it” like three times.
There’s still time Ric, tell us the story!
What the fuck.
the misogynistic remarks are back i see, how long that’d take? a month maybe.
How does Ric make trips to Japan when he has to beg people for trips to Edmonton and beg “girls” for trips to local tourneys?
Ive never had to beg to goto Edmonton, and I’m not begging sam to go either…oh but right she is fake so I guess it doesn’t matter!
Man I hate to sound racist but some asshole with a very strong chinease accent really just fucked me over big time. I called money express to see how much they sell their PS2(since mine broke) and he told me"14.99". I asked him “so it’s 14.99” and he was like"oh yes 14.99$", so I come down to pick it up and he charged me 49.99$. I’m like"you said 14.99$ over the phone"and the asshole starts to chuckle and says"no no not that cheap I said 49.99$ maybe you hear wrong"…in engrish I didn’t realize how identical 14 and 40 sound.
So I suppose I shall tell the story!
Well in the summer of 02 I visited japan with a buddy of mine. I was a complete scrub who knew nothin about fighting games but luckily my friend did and we lived close by a arcade. At that time I went by the name rikimaru and befriended ruu who introduced me to vanoa. Months later I became a top ranking 3s player and sf2 and my signature style involved the creative uses of the denjin. In fact they called the denjin"rikgenjin"after my brilliant use of the move. For the first little while in japanease tournaments they would start to chant my name whenever someone picked the denjin, and even to this day they still refer to denjin as "rikgenjin"whenever a player dominates with it…and that’s the origin of how the denjin became viable.
Rik you told me the first time you ever played a fighting game was when 3s for the ps2 came out. So stop lying.
Wow…what the fuck is right! I’m in the same boat as Shane I hope to never see you again and if I do I only pray you keep your stupid comments to yourself.
Have I taught you nothing Rik
sheesh
Law is an A tier character one of the best tekken characters in the game
His lack of aa’s has’nt slowed me down and it should’nt stop you from winning either
