I dig the CCG 5 on 5 format and the"vs"theme between provinces. I would maybe participate, especially since I’ve been calling AB free for months but I dunno im rusty and im sure ill probably get blown up:(

I know there are more communities but I think these are probably the ones with the most presence. I didn’t place Sask because outside the fact that I dont play anymore, most guys in regina have moved on to other games. Id like to be cocky and say I could still probably own at least the last 2 and possibly compete against the remaining 3 but…Im terrible these days ha.
We have 2 primo SF players, another one in Japan, and a handful more that can compete above average in a tourney IMO (this does not include me – I’m bad at the game now). While our top is as good as any other, the depth just isn’t there IMO – not as many people are playing it. Really depends on how beastly JKO and Shane play, and I know some of their setups go somewhat down the crapper online.
Yeah exactly, thats why I have some doubts because akuma and gen are not lag friendly characters and will be at a massive disadvantage. I think peg can still compete well but it will depend on how smooth the connection is.
This is the reason why im also not calling out any cities right now. A 5 man team from sask would be pointless because a lot of the guys here dont play SF4 much anymore. Although I have no issue fighting other cities just by myself, Ill gladly be a 1 man team as I have no doubt I could easily take out edmonton and calgary. I doubt I could do the same to van,peg or EC but I wouldnt mind giving it a try. The only thing I worry about from calgary though is that they have a lot of charge characters on their team and with the latency issues, they get a massive boast from the lag. I also cannot beat blanka players online or most charge characters online because of the latency boast they get so…im worried I wouldnt be able to finish them off easily unless it was in person.

I really tried, I just don’t have the drive for it anymore. I got to the point where grinding became less fun to me – filling in holes via option selects was the main thing that pissed me off, I hate them :p. Still play on and off, since Sakura is fun. Cammy’s clearly awesome but she’ll never be as broke so rather than wean myself off I’ll just let the good memories stay, hahaha. Spider-Man is my fave fictional character, so there’s that too.
And hey, I at least bought the game. JKO doesn’t have Ultimate As far as I know anyway.
Yeah, probably, she’s definitely got one of the tighter offensive toolsets in the game. Be that as it may, I get far too pissed off at many things about the engine, some of which allow stupid escapes. I also don’t like having to respect bad players in that game way more than in any other.
(I can roll dummies in about 20 marvel seconds; it’s got a dumb engine too but it’s got movie characters in it~)
In a perfect world, every game would be as tight as KOFXIII
tl;dr I miss having a (self-chosen) tippity-top character that was fun and allowed me to jump in on/roll a good chunk of the cast without thinking

You know what annoys me about Calgary, its their inability to accept accountability for the things they do. Some of the guys on there are legitimately cool guys who just want to have a good time, but unfortunately they have too many toxic members that ruin their image. My entire issue with Calgary all stems from the fact that years ago I bodied a few of them online and they couldn’t handle the loss so they went on this year long troll fest against me both competitively and personally…like for crying out loud Cody texted me just so he could troll me and I had to block him from my cell.
Of course these actions are never condemned, it’s all fine because"it’s their friend"yet when I decide to defend myself I’m the villian. The worst part though is that while I can ignore these dudes because ultimately they are nothing more then community bottom feeders who are frustrated over their lack of ability, I don’t understand why their behavior is allowed and why in some cases it’s even encouraged by the rest of the community…very strange indeed.

Anyways man it’s not excuses, I’ve kicked the asses of your communities killers time and time again on 4 separate Calgary Events…all except you. Although between us, sure you lead our games but they are very close and VERY winnable. In fact most of my loses come from my own unforced errors so it’s a match I can easily improve in and once i do, you’ll be as free as all your other “killers” lol.I’m not the least bit impressed by what any of your top players have to offer, especially after I’ve personally had the chance to shit stomp them hard in person. Once you get beaten, you and your community will get exposed.
As for the matter of latency, I beat lapchi in person convincely and me and Brian break about even, but online they both wreck me…i can’t handle charge characters in lag.

Ok well I would hate for this thread to cluster with more drama so Ill shift gears to more productive discussions. Alright so I was debating a week ago that Fei didnt deserve the nerfs he got because he wasnt a strong enough character to warrant a nerf. I argued that the issue wasnt so much about him being too strong as a character but rather the other characters (whom from vanilla have progressively been nerfed with each iteration) were too weak.
Just consider this for a second, in SSF4 fei plays nearly identical to his AE self yet he was maybe only top 10 at that game. Yet in AE he was top 3…now why is that you ask. The simple answer is that fei went virtually unchanged from super to AE while everyone else received a fairly damaging downgrade. Had the top tier remained as it was from super to beyond with the mid/lows being the sole focus of attention in regards to the balancing issues, then fei’s dominance in AE would never have occurred since he would have only been just another"good character".
The SRK guys seem to think fei was a overpowered monster though but…I dunno seems pretty silly to condemn fei when in reality his only fault was being a solid character in a roster full of nerfed characters.
