SFxT is actually quite boring. Granted, it’s still a young game and most of us don’t know how to “play it proper”, but god damn I can’t even watch a single match anymore. Would rather play Battle Arena Toshinden over SFxT, or even any WWF/WWE game.
Only good new gen game worth playing now, in my opinion, is KOFXIII, and maaybe SCV…maybe
I think SFXT is a exciting game. It is so spacing orientated and a single mistake can lead to big damage. It reminds me a lot of SF2 in the sense that it punishes mistakes and discourages bad habits. In particular what about it bothers you guys?
slow ass walkspeed. Throws that do jack shit. timer in the game is dumb. Why was pandora even included… I think the gems are stupid.

so yeah once Guilty gear comes on PSN I’m pretty sure that’s all I’ll be playing for the rest of my life.
This. I just shut off streams when it comes on now, looks way too samey ALL the time and fights have a predictable flow to them.
Maybe it’s the characters being used. Hugo, Gief, Rolento, Ryu, Rufus, Raven, Kazuya with a pinch of Lili and Jin is pretty much all I see; while not a terrible range of characters, they all seem to have a really repetitive gameplan that isn’t even as interesting as SFIV, home of the autovortex. Tired of the SFIV visual engine too. Some creativity would be nice. Timer is also way too short, and it seems like it just goes to lol as soon as 30-25 seconds are left. Game looks a little slow and defensive for my current tastes too.
That threat of pokes into big damage makes people just block all day, but there’s no horrible reason NOT to block. Everyone has worse throw range than Cammy in IV series (which was already gahbage). Looks way more slow-paced than SSF4 Chocolate ever was. Maybe a guard bar would help? I don’t know, I haven’t played it enough to make an informed decision on adding more mechanics to a game loaded with them.
One thing I do like about the game is that it seems like it’s easier to roll people in this game if you’re gasp better than them (compared to SFIV). Lot less of having to respect the threat of idiocy.
I’m going to wait for the game to be a bit more refined before I decide to jump in and give Capcom more money. It’s just not for me in its current state, can’t stand watching it and playing it is not some super-fun experience either.
Cosign on that video anubis, lol. That would make me more hype than an actual fight though hahahaha
Lastly - Kazuya EWGF loops are cool/funny now. Won’t be when that shit runs the game free. I could picture myself being hella mad because I got hit by that
Those are valid complaints but ultimately i think sfxt is a better game then sf4. The high damage output and confined mobility means spacing is extremely important. A single mistake can lead to big damage, your discouraged from making bad habits and playing smart and safe. As a result I think it’s easy to weed out the bad players from the good players unlike sf4 which I feel comforts bad players quite a bit. Gimmicks are not likely to win you as many matches as in sf4 and I think footsies and spacing control will make or break a player in this game.
There’s more to fighting game then just footsies and plenty of games are more fun, that punish you big time for making mistakes. Marvel is one such example. I think your mistaking smart and safe, with boring. I’ve played a bunch of games where I have to space correctly in order to win. Hell I have a preference for characters who are good at zoning and I don’ like to take big risks. The problem with SFxT is that as others have said, there is very little to discourage people from playing completely defensively and blocking. I watch matches and I’m damn near falling asleep. So what SFXThas done, other games have done better. The whole game feels rushed and unpolished and it annoys me that by nature of it being a capcom game, it automatically gets into evo.
Well it’s understandable why people could find it boring, I mean even SF2 was accused of same problem in reference to “projectile spam” . However I find the so called boring styles to be more like a moving chess match. Baiting, blocking well and staying in perfect range to attack while remain safe is IMO what I love about SF style games. This is probably why I didn’t enjoy SF4 as much…just felt like spacing and footsie were so diluted thanks to most of the cast having terrible normals and a terrible damage scale system.
Marvel to me just feels random though and I don’t see much of the spacing aspect. I mean I know it’s there and I can admire the execution and skill required to play it at high level but it just looks and feels so random…kind of like SBB with items on or a party game. I think SFXT has potential to be a really great game with further updates and as it stands I think it’s pretty good as it is. I’ve heard a lot about KOF13 being a great game and it’s a game I would love to play but the mobility options make it a bit hard to break in as it seems like traditional spacing is pointless in it.
MK9 is also another example of a game where spacing is very important but that game has no footsies…just zoning which IMO can be quite boring after awhile.
i should arrive in Saskatoon at 2pm and then I’m gonna pick up the rental car and then drive to the Delta Bessborough which is about 15 mins away, i think? so Let’s say i’ll be at the hotel at 2:45.
Norman do you need to room with me? I’d like to know whether i’m going to be asking for double beds or not.
Well depends how late you want to play lol. If we go super late sure but if its only like 1-2am i’ll drive back. I’m off monday but I got work shit I could do.
i was thinking we play sunday till about like 2am but then i’m also pretty much staying up all night monday since my flight is at 6am on tuesday morning. You could just find shit to do while i’m working noon to 8pm and then we can play when i’m finished work till…as late as you want
