hey hope you guys don’t mind but I’m new to the board and got a couple of questions. I’m moving back to Regina from Toronto at the end of the month. During my 5 years in Toronto I really got into fighting games, right now playing a lot of BB and marvel. Since I’m moving back I’m just wondering what the communities like here. Is there a regular meetup for casuals around here, or is it just whenever?

In the last couple months me and jeremie have put like 30 bucks in that 3s machine
once you figure out how hard it is for P2 to block low or P1 to jump back or hit HK (the button is unresponsive), campuscove thirdstrike is pretty dumb
when I do meaty c.mk->EX tatsu on your wakeup for the 5th time and you realize that the only way to not get hit is to parry low, the games begin
since the stick is so clunky with a gigantic 1990s happ spring in it, delicate little wakeup parries are something you need to actually dedicate to, and varying up that meaty’s timing becomes undealwithable
invite me down to the cove whenever you want, I will abuse bad hardware gimmicks and make you have an ulcer attack

edit: when the school semester was still on guys would wander in on their breaks and try to get a game or two in, but my troll strats were always there waiting for them

The sad thing is its not just recently that the machine sucks, its pretty much always been like that. The frustrating thing is that buttons are like 50c and sticks are like 10$. Dave has NO clue how to run an arcade. I offered to install new sticks/buttons in the machine for him for free if he bought the hardware and he declined.
Huh, I see nothing has changed in the last 3 years or so. I think I remember the exact same problems from the last time I played it.
This. I’d be inclined to spend some time playing there again, but not with the machine in such poor condition.

Here is my report of the commonality of the arcade games being played recently:
Virtual Ron, new full two-seat cab. Never gets played by anybody.
SF3:3S while it doesn’t get much use during the summer, gets played by people during the semester about one per half hour will drop between 2 and 3 dollars on it
Football game never gets played
Hunting game never gets played
Pacman machine never gets played
dance simulation game gets played often. because its a dance simulation game.
Buster Bros. gets played religiously by these two guys who show up once every few days or so, but they’re gdlk at that game so they go super high up in levels and feed quarters on such a rare basis that the machine should be counted as “rarely used” on account of their skill
Super bishi bashi champ gets two players a week to play it. and most of those two players are me and jeremie.
Why the hardware of the 3s machine, which makes the same amount as the rest of the arcade machines put together, can continue to deteriorate from it’s already horrendous condition without attention being paid to it while absurdly expensive dual-seat cabinets of games that nobody plays are purchased, can only be ignorance.
What theres no guitar hero? My friend was telling me the have this awful arcade guitar hero.
I only listed games visible from the current location of the 3rd strike machine.
The games in the front are not used with any frequency either, though.

Nah I am done with the Abel… perhaps someday you could see what terrible terrible concoction of skills i have barely mustered. Hint: it’s a combo! Perhaps more than two hits someday. We shall see
