Saskatchewan Thread 2011

Heh, I think they tried not talking about Rik… the thread didn’t have any activity for several days. It’s tough when all you’ve known is Rik-related drama, and suddenly it’s gone! There’s nothing to talk about.

I tried clicking on that video, but Youtube removed it due to gross content. I guess I should be glad I didn’t get to see it.

It’s sort of a problem with the half circle inputs in this game… unlike everything else, they more or less can’t be shortcutted. If you’re getting EX DP, it’s because your second half-circle is probably just a quarter circle by habit (go into training to verify this, but I’m fairly sure it’s true of your inputs). I spent some time practicing doing Oni’s U2 on reaction to certain things in training, and I got EX DP when I was sure I did two half-circles… but the inputs showed HCF, QCF. You have to make a hugely deliberate effort to do two complete half circles. The game has no mercy on this input.

Off things like focus attack crumples -> dash, I just do a 540 motion instead.

Ahhh, that would make sense. Time to hit the lab!

Thanks for the info!

Its a matchmaking thread. Its SUPPOSED to be silent when theres no matchmaking going on. That is whats ideal because this way every time people who are watching the thread get an alert they know its because something is going on, not just because Ric posted his thought of the day. People who are actually looking for gatherings and not just random bullshit are going to stop checking the thread if 1/100 posts has anything to do with fight game activity.

RIP RIC

Free gold weekend apparently… If anyone wants games nows the time.
I’ll probably be on a lot, so

stay free saskatchewan

Jeeze, rather dead around here, huh?

Ever get to that point where you just don’t want to play anymore? I’m at that breaking point. Maybe it’s just Adon. Maybe it’s the netcode. Maybe I’m just a scrub. But jesus, somethings gone wrong. Maybe I need a new character. Any suggestions?

Yeah I’ve been there, so I played a variety of characters. Sad thing for me though is that as soon as I pick up someone new, I forget how to play the other person. I main’d Balrog (for the most part) up until AE. Now, I play Yang, but I wouldn’t be able to go back and play Balrog properly, haha. Definitely give some other characters a try, makes for a new experience (as for suggestions, no idea).

Or, just throw other games into the mix instead of playing the game solely, if that is the case. I think I’ve been playing more League of Legends than I have been playing SF.

Someone needs to set up something this weekend.

I have a crap connection which doesn’t help matters. Hell I could play someone that lives down the street and it’d lag like nuts. But I just can’t seem to get any further ahead. Still the same, win half the time , lose half the time.

Guess it’s the lack of progress that’s really frustrating.

What I found was a big changer for me was changing my mentality. I was so concerned at first about keeping pressure on an opponent but didn’t realize that a lot of that pressure needs to come from safer pokes and projectiles rather then getting in my opponents face all the time (unless you are playing Dudley, Zangeif, or T. Hawk of course). Basically I went from throwing in too many overheads and small uppercuts to using pokes and mix ups to bait an opponent into opening themselves up.

Basically I changed to a far more defensive mindset and saw my win percentage really start to increase.

Alberta Beatdown 2 - SSF4AE - Teams Grand Finals - Team Canada Cup vs Team Edmonton Gamers

What does that have to do with anything.

Ah, I was skimming through this thread when I found this, thanks for posting, I was looking around for it.
^ It was basically the video of us during team battle in Alberta beat down against Lapchi’s team during grand finals. We had Rik and Shiro420 on our team, and I of course (RedCaliburn, the Ibuki player). I would like to give some shoutouts to Rik, in your area. He played very well as a fei long player, and without him, we woulden’t have made it this far. I also noticed that he’s in Saskatchewan right? Shoutouts to Saskatchewan and other players from around Canada as well, and good games. (Although I’ve personally have not met any other player then here in Edmonton lol.) Again thanks for posting.

Well I now main Adon and…

T Hawk!

From the frying pan and into the fire. I don’t know why I’m drawn to these crummy characters. Any other Trollhawks in SK?

I personally don’t main him but I enjoy playing T. Hawk. He has the highest health in the game and damn can he deal damage when he gets in close.

Yeah. I messed with him in ST and I played with him a lot when I was first getting into SSFIV.

Against characters like Guile though… He’s a nightmare to play if it’s a half decent player. For that matter, Adon sucks in that match up too.

Grapplers are kind of crappy in SF4 all things considered… I’m not really sure why I don’t ever just pick characters like Fei Long or Yun.

Regardless, if you really want to piss someone off, be T. Hawk and give 'em the old typhoon beatdown. Seems to really, REALLY make people angry online. I guess T. Hawk is just for scrubs like me.

I think it’s great that Ricardo did well on Teams. Lover gonna love.

congrats on teams. the other sask players were busy playing mortal kombat. (me, merlando, and levaranoia)

Who ever said either of the characters were bad? Also how do you main two characters?
