Why are you so mad? Is it the guilt piling up over picking a bad game by choice and then defending it to look like a cool cat?
Really, what blows this whole case about your anger right open is the fact that you call me an elitist.
Why do you think that I’m “The Man” and that you have to rebel against the elite that I think deserve a ruling position over you?
I pick games by how good they are.
I judge depth of play to decide what game to play, that is, the total sample space of legitimate choices that can be made in a given situation for either player to yield a desirable result with whatever probability related to whatever choices the other person can (realistically) make. The reason why I use “legitimate” and “realistic” here is because while a person could, for example, do a wakeup forward dash or a HP shoryu from fullscreen away, these aren’t legitimate strategies with outcomes that any player would willingly pursue.
The centrality of the SF4 oki game around safe jumps and the otherwise undefeatable potential of a wakeup DP is an obvious show of how depth can be lost.
You, as you’ve already pointed out, pick your games by public exposure. You pick 'em because people have heard of them, so they have a larger following. Thats fine, if all you care about is the number of minutes you spend playing the game against whoever.
Exposure doesn’t make a game good. I don’t know whether or not changes that will inevitably be added in SF5 will produce a good or bad game yet. I haven’t watched play of it, I haven’t played it, and tournament results don’t exist.
However, one thing that is certain is that the most people will be playing SF5 at and after it’s release, more than any other fighting game to date. It is guaranteed exposure. You will no doubt be playing it. By your choices to play the games with exposure, you have already decided to keep playing the Street Fighter series, regardless of where it goes or what it does.
This is the reason why so many players came from 3s to 4, or from GG to BB. They may not like the changes that were made or the game that resulted, but they play SF4 and BB because that is what other people around them and who they’re involved with play. In the end, they end up playing against other players who may or may not like the changes that SF4 or BB brought or the game that resulted of it.
and no, I aint salty, I was playing what you think are bad games since half a decade ago against real players before I ever started (this year) calling out games that I think are bad.
I’m gonna keep saying this at the end of my post until you start sayin shit that matters instead of petty insults over “anime girls” or about an acne problem I don’t have:
stay ignorant
