Not only is that facebook diatribe insulting, it’s also patently false.
Nobody is obviously going to start a fistfight at a CC event over this, is that what he wants? Someone to come say something to his face so he can start something? We’re smarter than that, come on. Additionally, most of us don’t really care “how good” at the games we are. We accept we will never be international superstars, so we have fun with our friends. Our relevance to the community is made through friendships. (Though, to be fair, we also have some good players here as well as people who have meaningfully contributed to SRK with strategies or videos or tournament results)
I definitely think it’s telling that high on the list of Ric’s insults is “you’re bad at Street Fighter”. It’s an empty platitude with no significance or weight, because a) most of us are (and we know it) and b) we don’t really care. We have friendships that winning a FT10 can’t buy, and that is our significance in the community.
I’ve seen you salty. We all care a little bit when we lose. I rather beat you than lose to you. I care that much. Evo beat me like, 50 in a row. My street fighter pride was hurting.
Gasp* ShinAkuma204 post, I think this old dog is going to teach young whipper snapper Jamie how they used to pay it back in 94. Personally, I’m really hype to see who comes out on top between this two giant.
I’m pretty sure you’ll beat Sakeido. Jamie I’m not so sure. I can’t wait to see video of this.
I have played SF in pretty much every major centre in Canada (except MTL), and I can tell you that Calgary is probably THE most humble and sporting SF community I have ever had the pleasure to be a part of. “Egotism”?? “Cowards”?? “Majority of the community”??
Really?? o_O?
I’ve never had bad words with you, but man, do you not understand that you insulted pretty much EVERYBODY in Calgary (and even Western Canada)? Do you not realize how offensive you when you say stuff like this?
You embarassed the shit out of yourself…again. Of course people are talking about it.
You challenged someone to a money match at a venue you’d claim you’d rent out, supposedly to ‘see if I was real’. You failed to show up or rent the venue and claimed to have ‘traced my IP’.
How can you even come here and post still? If anyone has proven they have no reason to be posting here its you.
i would add a disclaimer that I am something of an aberration in the calgary SF scene and most of ric’s criticisms of our scene are weirdly distorted mentions of things I’ve caused (inadvertently or otherwise)
3s online just looks like 3s, online.
It doesn’t look amazing.
Why are people glorifying bad GGPO netcode? GGPO gives people living in SK an ms of about 90-100 (necessitating 4 to 5 frames of delay) to people living on the west coast, when game-specific caster clients that use direct IP connection get 50-60 ms (2-3 frames delay).
In 5 frames of delay, otherwise blockable-on-reaction overheads become unblockables, or moves you need to guess will come out.
In 2 or 3 frames of delay, this is much less likely to happen, excluding obviously ridiculous overheads, like millia doing tigerknee’d bad moon, which only needs a couple frames of delay to drive it over the edge into unblockable, and some degree of guesswork is always necessary.
I think what this boils down to is just that the SF4 kids have only ever netplayed using newgen game consoles, which have horrendous netcode, so they have no idea what is good or bad.
The fact that these are the people behind ggpo netcode being used doesn’t surprise me, any player who has had any experience with the alternatives realizes that GGPO’s netcode is incredibly inefficient.
Man. Just sweeps everything under the carpet just like that, huh? Good luck with the scene, you guys. I mean it.
As for GGPO… it’s a great networking solution for 2-player games. The fact that you are playing on your own local copy means you can react perfectly to any move. Rollbacks when lag does occur is a much more attractive solution than permanent input lag. You’re basically trading permanent, long-term lag for short spurts of stuttering play. Even with “good” connections of 50 ping, the rollbacks will basically be able to handle it so you barely notice it… and then the rest is you playing on your local copy of the game. Rollbacks are definitely the best tech we have for fighting game netcode right now.
And, of course, in a game like 3s where everyone is trying to parry everything, lag is a huge factor.
Why will 3rd strike online be amazing? Ric didnt you say yourself online ment nothing. Also wow that mk died fast like droped faster then a sigon whore fast for you.
I also still want to find the truth about ric possibly getting his friend to hack srk or send shady links that could reveal troll this srks IP both things i dont think are looked upon well on SRK.
I agree with Darc lol. Best way to say it. 3rd strike online will be like 3rd strike, online. I guess its okay since a new generation gets to play the game.
I will get to the bottom of this Ip tracking hacking scandal lol. I shoulda just went to see if trollthis was there, take a picture of him with me or somthing then itd be all over.
