Saskatchewan Thread 2011

That’s good to hear that sticks are available… I just can’t do the controller thing anymore… LOL… I’m doing some project management work and training at The Star Phoenix newspaper. Hopefully the casuals are near where I’m staying because I have no transportation… haha…

Hey man when you want some games against me I can come pick you up, so no worries about the transportation:)

Where we live/host is in an easy to access area, but if you’ll be near the SF maybe not so close to you. We will make sure to have some gatherings when you are up, and if you need a lift or something I’m sure we can work something out! It’s a small city and a lot of people who come to our gatherings might go through/near downtown, etc. so it won’t be an issue I am sure.
There are only a couple people here who play on a pad. And we try to convert them XD hahaha

norman is too hardbody for you.

also, jersey dude.

don’t do games with evo.

i dont even wanna explain myself, he’s just a troll.

Anyways when you get into town give me a call, we’ll get something worked out mate.

i left this thread for a few days and the action in it died.

HOWS EVERYTHING GOING SASK?

Sorry I was just thinking of some new material…didn’t want to get dull. Anyhow Fei is the top dog in SF now, guess it’s only a matter of time before everyone starts using him!

SOoooooooo… Did anyone listen to Wake Up Shoryuken today? Marn did an interview. Mostly talking about leaving EG and stuff. And… wow. Not such a good talker. Not very charismatic. Said some things I wouldn’t have said…(about not actually liking to play games, just wanting some free money, etc.) hahaha. What a guy!

Anyways…MVC3 is right around the corner but in all honesty Im not super hyped for it. I mean Im sure it will be fun and all but I dunno…just not my style I guess. Im a lot more interested in the upcoming KOF and MK9 release personally…and 3S online is on a whole other level:)

P.S.

I dig marns attitude, thats how its done.

SF4 Arcade in Sask?

Hey does anyone know if or where the SF4 Arcade machines might be in Sask?

lol we dont got any sadly…all we got is a 3s machine but I hear it doesn’t work too well. You’re in town though?..good to meet you man have you just moved to Sask or have you always been here?

Eh am bleh on that attitude. hes free to do what he wants but if i was a progamer of his caliber and i wasint even enjoying the games and thinking it was just a job period. I would just. Get a job. Its simple easy WAYYY more stable then progaming.

Comon evo do it :stuck_out_tongue: quit your job and live off of gaming.

Also still playing fei? could swore you said somthing about people who use the best character? :stuck_out_tongue:

All my life…
Just getting back into SF after 20 years…first time playing 3s on supercade about 2 weeks ago.

I still remember the days when SF2 machines were in every small town…lol…and every 7-11

I wish I could live off it but I’d need to live in Japan or in the states to make it happen, or at the very least somewhere on the east coast of Canada lol. As for Fei, meh I’ve been using him since HDR (where he was near bottom) so it feels good to finally use a good character…and no matter who I main I’ll make them look top tier:cool:

Damn dude you’re old school, much respect mate. Sadly this is the wrong town to get back into SF with lol, but I’m always down for games if you want…I happen to be something of a top player in these parts.

GG’s to pawn080 tonight: Thanks for coming over mate, Im sorry once again about the stick I tried my best to have one by today but unfortunately things didn’t go as I planned. I think ill be able to secure one for next time though man, maybe rent one for a day or something lol. Anyhow I could tell that you’re a good player and im glad you managed to eventually adjust. I know the pad will never be quite as responsive as a stick so hopefully by next time we can resolve that, however I do want to give some insight to our fights and tell you how I think you should be approaching this match…I was sort of sleepy so I didnt really offer much advice during the games lol.

Ryu Vs Fei:

Well first off, the match is in Fei’s favor so expect a tough battle regardless. Ryu can win of course but you just really have to play to ryu’s strengths and try to exercise as much patience as possible. When I fought Daigo and Air, they always threw hadukens at safe ranges and made it nearly impossible to reliably jump in on them. Usually If I did manage to jump in they would AA me with a s.HK. Additionally a c.HP can also work too and of course a SRK if you have enough time, but from my experience a s.HK is the most reliable and safest AA ryu has.

As far as Fei’s rekkas go, my suggestion is to just try neutrel jumping if you suspect Ill be coming at you with it. You can try crouching normals and SRK on reaction as well, but from my experience I find I get hit a lot more often by neutrel jumps then any other method of defense. Its also important to note that Im only safe after a single rekka hit on block, I can be punished on my 2nd and 3rd hit. Also keep in mind that almost all of Ryu’s normals can be punished by rekka on reaction so be very alert when playing footsies and zoning, try to keep your attacks to mainly light attacks and bait me out.

Now onto the famous CW’s, believe it or not CW’s don’t have much say in this fight. Ryu and beat it with simple standing normals such as s.MP,s.HK and of course a reaction SRK. The only time a CW will factor into the match is if I have meter and I attempt to EX CW through a haduken, so be sure to play a very conservative projectile game when you see me build meter. Aside from that the CW wont be a real presence in this match outside just beating throws and the occasional cross-up attempt. If im at mid/full screen you can be assured that the CW won’t be a problem, and if I get close try jumping back with a HK/MK incase I try for a CW spam as the jumping back HK/MK will beat out any CW I through afterwards. Another way to avoid a CW at close range is to try a crouching normal, im not to sure on this one exactly but I think ryu’s c.MK might cause a CW to whiff over…im not sure if its a 100% but I know some characters can avoid a CW by a simple crouching normal. Also remember that a LK CW can be punished even if it hits in certain situations and try to stand as you block a CW to avoid any potential cross ups.

The last thing is to be aggressive with you’re haduken preasure when i am knocked down at a safe distance. Make it hard for me to approach you, wait for my mistakes and keep me out as best you can. Outside all of this, just be sure to apply more variety into you’re offense when you do see a opening. Whenever Daigo or Air got me knocked down, I was overwhealmed by either frame traps,OS,ticks or deep cross ups so be sure to have a very firm handle on you’re timing and control over the things I just mentioned. I know its hard on a controller you’re not used too, but its just good to keep in mind because I see a lot of players become overtly passive when they knock me down instead of continuing the assult. Overall just play safe and solid with a clear mind and steady hands. Read the situations and apply you’re best judgement and if all else fails just pick guile lol.

P.S.

if you get cornered, try a jumping hurricane kick if you see the chance to move. If you cant catch a break, just keep blocking and wait for a gap in my preasure to punish…it isn’t always easy but its better then nothing lol. Also I didnt mind the bar food but next time lets head over to the boston pizza ha, hopefully they have another cute waitress I know form high school lol.

Yeah man… awesome games. Thanks for hosting. I’ve been researching the matchup myself today. I don’t have experience with fighting high level fei so it was quite a surprise and I just couldn’t react to the pressure. I was totally outta my game and forcing the action just doesn’t work. One wiff or mis-timed/blown opportunity and a major punish is coming my way.
Thanks for the write up on tips. I’ll be working on this for sure.

By the end of the night I was getting pretty adjusted to the madcatz pad. There were only a few things I couldn’t get my head around because of stick muscle memory for tech throw OS and Focus cancels… I do feel that in one night I’ve learned more about my game and how unsafe my play style is than I have in months. I’ll need to take more advantage of the SF community in my area when I get back. Saskatoon is lucky to have a player of your skill level in such a small community.
I look forward to more matches whenever you’re free. Free as in available… not “FREE” LOL.

Yeah next time no bar food… That was only good because I was hungry… haha

Lol…

I’ll be free next weekend again, Ill be sure to bring a stick though just so that you dont get too messed up when you get back home and play stick again lol. I strongly suggest you keep up with your local community, SF4 online just has to many latency issues generally speaking so take the local competition if you can. Even if the guys aren’t as good as you they can still offer some advice and suggestions and you can help them level up and grow the scene.

If I get free before then I’ll give you a shout, right now im just waiting till UFC starts…Im calling anderson as the winner:)

NOW IM A MAN! A MAN MAN MAN

Are any of you guys going to be getting MvC3? I haven’t decided if I should get that or just wait for 3S online.

Also, I heard talk of some tournaments going on late last year or early this year. What ever happened to those?

Wasn’t that because I said no one is worth my time lol.

I wasnt depressed…do you see me on anything for it? Also its not a excuse since everyone ive played with even noted all the drops in combo’s and punishes and besides who are you to say anyting lol. Everything else is just basic trolling…and dude we all know its a troll account. So look dude you will get banned once again and my honest suggestion is to just come clean and post under your regular account…its just painful at this point lol.
