IMO MK9 looks good, great character models and it animates smooth. It doesn’t feel sluggish at all from my time with the demo, it actually feels quite fluid especially with how fast pace the game is. It wasn’t like how it was when I first picked up SF4, which to me felt very sluggish at the time especailly coming off HDR. I also appreciate how the hit sparks and colors aren’t so distracting like in MVC3 or anime games…theres way too many colors in those type of games that its like getting gang banged by crayons with multiple pop shots all over the screen, in other words too excessive.
Anyhow Im leaving in a few hours to drive to calgary, hope I can redeem myself after CC…ciao for now saskatoon!
Thanks shane, I choked hard at the top 8 but before I talk about the event I have a quick announcement to the whole Sask commmunity:
Well guys a buddy of mine from AB is coming down on the good friday weekend to help me host a tournament in Saskatoon. The plans are not completely set in motion but we have a basic concept of what we want to do. The venue will either be hi-tech,the cove or the education building and be a 2 day event. The prize will depend on the venue but we will try our best to make it a cash amount. The games featured will be MVC3 and SSF4 and be a teams and singles tournament. I’d also like to extend this invitation to the regina guys, winnipeg guys and the AB guys or to anyone who is interested. I also want to stress that anyone is welcomed to come as long as the we keep on topic with the tournament and don’t open old wounds…I really do mean that. Anyhow Ill keep everyone updated as more things become finalized.
Yeah well I am going to get married in Sask so maybe I’ll plan my wedding around the tournament so my Winnipeg friends have TWO reasons to come to town. I’ll see how your first tournament goes as I guarantee a lot of things will break but that just makes the second tourney oh that much better when you get to it. You should really seek support from Chip Damage as they are already pro’s at it and close to yourself. I’m an old, I don’t like to leave the house anymore. Bachelor Street Fighter Tournament… I’m tool old school for my own good.
thats a much better approach for a tournament imo.i hope it works out well this time around and i would be glad to help out if need be.also congratulations on making the top 8!! hopefully i can free up some time to make it to the next tournament.call or text if you want to hook up for some casuals sometime soon.
Rush: ha sounds good man, if this 1st one goes well that would be a awesome weekend. A wedding, a tournament and drinks and strippers to kick it off!
Ill ask chip damage for some help, I think its time we get down with the saskpeg connection:tup:
Jayson: Thanks man, I’ll shoot you a call sometime this week to talk about this more at length.
oh on to my thoughts over marvel madness before I forget:
First off I appreciate the efforts of the CC staff so i say this with no offense meant but rather as just constructive criticism so hopefully no one takes it personally. With that said lets get down to it, compared to CC this was a real step down and I just don’t mean in terms of the presentation but in the quality of how the event was structured and organized. I’ve never been a fan of organizing team/single tournaments on the same day for multiple games and this event really proved why. In my view if felt like a confusing cluster and it caused a considerable gap between when the games were being played, and in my view had to much"down time"between matches. it also would have probably helped players perform better had they had a focal point in terms of what game would be featured for the day. Not that it isn’t impossible to shift gears, but why ruin the flow if you’re in the "zone"for a particular game.
Granted I understand why it might have seemed like a great ideal to co-host both games on the same day, but it would have been a lot better had the 2 days been split between a "MVC3"day and"SF4"day that way players wouldn’t have to wait hours between matches and shift focus. This also would have saved a lot of time which gets me into the other issue I had which is how poorly managed the time was. The exhibition matches and raffle tickets should have come at the end of the day after the tournament was done, and all the tournament matches should have been the first thing to get cleared. We have to remember that we do have some out of town players, so we have to take into consideration that some people have a limited frame of time to spend at the event.
My biggest issue came on the last day which was saw one of the events (SF4 top 8) delayed by a considerable amount of time. If you come into a event under the expectation of it starting at a certain time you can prepare for it, but that preparation means nothing if the event isn’t on schedule and it ends up overwriting prior engagements (such as having to drive 6 hours away in time for work in the morning). it also can also buzz kill you’re hype for competition when you spend a hour warming up before the originally scheduled start time of the tourny only to fight a few hours afterward you were suppose to…it essentially kills the mood. Anyways that’s just my 2 cents on it, either way i did have a lot of fun and look forward to future canada cup events.
Awesome, so far my buddy and his 2 friends will be showing and I’m working on getting another 4 dudes I know to show up as well. Hopefully the TTF people will come by too as I’d like this tournament to feature all of the Sask players. Going to MM really inspired me to get the ball rolling again with creating a scene and with all the recent high level experience I’ve been getting I know I can help the players here level up considerably.
In other news I’m also going to put the tournament edition of MK9 on pre-order when I get paid so it will be my first time owning a stick. I’ll be able to get in some actual practice with a stick this time around and see if it lives up to all the hype. I’m also going to install a seperate internet connection for my 360 to finally clear up my online connection. I’ll be going with the shawcable"warp"which I’ve been told is ideal for my type of gaming. I’m pretty hyped about it because it will mean I can finally get some legit matches online and it also means I can no longer be acused of lag tactics whenever I win:)
Well its only 50$ extra then the collectors edition so why not,but in the end I’ll still remain with a pad. Anyhow my seperate internet connection should be arriving sometime soon and Im sooooo looking forward to clean matches finally…anyhow whats new sask, this thread has been way to quiet!
everyone on vacation or wut? its been quiet here lately quick someone say something about how shitty mvc3 is.anyways rik try to hit me up this weekend for mma fights and ssf4 fights.peace
Sure thing mate, I’ll give you a shout and we can get something going. As for the thread, nah its not that. Its been historically proven that this thread gets lame when it isn’t about me…I’m sorry guys I’ll try my best to think of something new:razzy:
Anyhow for the hell of it I’m going to do a roster count to see how many potential players can show up for this upcoming tournament I plan to host:

Hmmm I think thats all of the known sask players, so hey we actually dont have a bad number the more I think about…we just gotta make them more involved in the community.
consider just getting a tournament going and let the rest be as it may.hopefully everyone can put there issues aside and come to play.im sure a few of them would come just for a chance to take your money lol.dont try to make a community just try to get a legitimate tournament going first.im glad no one is flaming each other back n forth and i think thats a good start to getting everyone together for a local tourny.
Well its a process, and right now this tournament is to gauge how many players we do have for the time being. Hopefully if this turns out good we can have a shot at starting something down the line. As for the drama, I’m glad its over as well. I don’t have any hard feelings towards anyone and me and Allison’s hate for each other has ended. I hope we can all come together someday and just have fun again like in the old days, so this tournament can hopefully be the start of something new for sask.
