Saskatchewan Players The Time Is Now!

How is the new controller that I showed you? Did you grab it yet?

Just watched that Video of you play Air Rik. WTF? Man, you were on! That’s the best I’ve ever seen you play.

That was me with some food and a little rest in my system, plus I was using a better pad that night lol. Sadly someone else who was the same pad raged on it and the buttons didn’t work the same afterwards…I dont know why I had such bad luck with controllers that weekend lol. Unfortunately that sailty suite night was the only time at the event where I played true to myself but meh at least I know what not to do next time when I come into a major lol.

Evan: No not yet but I’ll be picking it up soon, I had a chance to do some more research on it and it seems like the ideal pad for me at the momment.

I might be a bit rusty 'cause im doing some playthroughs of other games… Heads up for if anyone owns me this next while…

lol I know the feeling, after CC I’m getting back to the grind of "real life"and Im not playing anywhere near as much as I would like…im lucky if I can manage 30 mins these days:sad:

Hey Oz I saw you’re thread on TTFs and personally I think we should just do bi-weekly ranking matches at the education buidling. I think a fresh approach is whats needed and to be perfectly honest we won’t be getting any “activity” anytime soon with how things are currently being organized. Granted I did call out all of this months in advance so Im not at all shocked by the recent developements. Therefore I think rebooting the scene is the best approach and I’ll be doing my part by hosting the online ranking matches.

I’ll play in your online ranbats if you’re letting Manitobans in. I was also wondering if you had a line on that controller. If it’s good I’d look at picking one up to be modded. I was also thinking it might be easier to use an adapter than to mod it; no? Footsies on a controller just seem way quicker. If you look and Vangief play all that crouching and standing up for a split second is 100% controller. If you do that on a stick you really have to sacrafice your hand positioning.

Yeah I agree, when I was using stick for a bit I found my footsies game to be incredibly compromised especially with someone like Fei who really needs those quick QCF motions. Im hoping to get that controller sometime soon though, probably around my next paycheck or so. From what ive researched it looks to be on par with the PS3 D-pad in terms of its fluidity and how it feels so I’ll keep ya posted.Speaking of vangief, I was watching that match with him against Ortiz and damn…he pulled a good fight but it looks like Chun has so much stupid shit she can abuse. I’d say it’s nearly a 7-3 in her favor…charge characters are lame lol

yo you need Norman in this tournament

^^^^^ this. even just for fun. can’t take online seriously, but norman needs to get in on it. i want to see normans alt against rics fei. immediately.

" I’ve never been hit that many times with that move. " - Evo

That was MY Canada Cup experience. Real talk.

Well yeah I don’t think anyone will take the online rankings too seriously, its more or less just to gather the community and "reboot"the scene after the unfortunate events that occured these past months. My hope is that it will inspire players to improve there game and become more dedicated to the growth of a scene. With that said I pray that norman is not alternating with Guile lol.

Terry: You know I was using Gief today and I realized that he and Fei are very similar in a lot respects. They are not characters that rely on gimmicks or a pariticular tactic to win rather they require a strong sense of fundalmental play in order to be effective. A player like Vangief illustrates this point perfectly with just the way he handles himself in his fights. That’s why I think a great benefit into perfecting Gief’s style is to get to a point where you’re core level is solid enough that you can win matches without having to use a single special/super/ultra.

I did a little bit of this at the CC accidently because of the bad D-pad. I had to go into most of the event without the use of my specials/combos and while I did lose badly I found it quite funny how often I would see a situation that would have been favorable to me had I just had the execution (decent pad basically lol) to capitalize. As a result I learned the valuable lesson of fundalmental play and how important it is in this game and just fighters in general. Granted its still only a single aspect of becoming a great player but IMO it’s the most important skill to have at you’re side.

Shin: lol the "canadian reset"was pretty clear on that, its not very nice when I cant even block on a regular basis. If I had known my converters would not work I would have just not shown up…no use fighting the best in the world on a bad controller lol.

I think a better lesson would had been to have two pads. Let me ask you something. If playing on a pad is 100%, what percent is it for you when you play on a stick?

0 lol, but If I came into the tourny using a stick I probably would have the same performance as I did with the madcatz pad. Although even with my 360 pad I’m probably only around 80%, the only pad I ever felt at full power with was the PS2 pad.

I hear that from a lot of players.

Dude, also, you the best in Canada at HDR, from the prairies, white ( which is basically a minority in the street fighter world ) AND you are a pad warrior.

You are the people’s champ, always and forever.

 I was watching my match with Daigo again and I saw like 6 chances in a single round where I could have won…so annoying lol. I’m almost tempted to main HDR again but I would get nothing from it…it’s sadly just a side game to top players. Anyhow the PS2 controller is easily the best controller IMO and from what I’ve seen from this new 360 controller thus far it looks like the pad is almost identical to the PS2 pad. I can’t wait till my next paycheck to pick it up…I’ll finally be able to confirm my rekka’s 100% of the time now:)

Edit: My favorite player of all time, I wish he would come back to SF!

Alright so I want to the do the 1st online tourny 2morro at 7pm, here is who I have confirmed (people who said they are interested) so far:

Merlin
Dalton
Kieth
Losha
Chao
Myles
Evan
Dylan

Yet to be confirmed:

Nate
Dustin
Luke
Justin
Norman

I wanna hear some suggestions over how the points system should work?

ok i’m finally on here. should be able to play tomorrow if i get some homework done before then.

Sounds good man, I still need some confirmation from everyone else especially in regards to what type of ranking system we should impose. Oh and I finally got the new 360 pad and it works great, easily better then the 360 pad I was using.

I’ll join the tourney if I’m allowed.

Oh… it’s probably Sask players only, nevermind.

btw Rik… whatever happened to that Hori pad you were interested in?
