You can’t expect to build a massive community holding massive tournaments in under a month.
Just do what your doing now holding small ones and build up from there. It takes time.

That’s the plan now, so far we got 3 people in our scene…better then nothing at least lol.
Alright, I’m going to give it one last shot. I’ll let this cycle for a short period of time (probably around the two week mark) to see where things stand. This is what I’ve done:
I created a forum for the Saskatoon scene to better organize and identify ourselves. I’ll link it below. In addition, I’ll also PM the URL to anyone who has expressed interest in this thread personally as to hopefully give them an additional heads-up.
Perhaps this’ll help the “scene” grow. At least it’ll give a more dedicated area for us fighters from Toon Town to discuss the future.

If you’re gonna give it one last shot, don’t back down so soon this time. Winnipeg’s Fighting game scene was on the verge of going dead. But it took dedication and a lot of effort to bringing it where it is today. Starting with a group of 12 has grown to about 32 players in 3 years or so? Man, I remember those days of starting it up. It wasn’t easy, but we eventually got there.
Aslong as you’re having fun while going along keep going at it till theres something bigger. Like everyone else says it takes time and dedication. Even if it means just playing at someones house for a while its still something. Good luck
PS: If Saskatoon or Regina where to ever hold a tournament, I’m sure a decent amount of out of towners would show up.
That forum is sweet ozzy, I encourage anyone who is serious about a legitimate scene to plz keep contact on that forum. As it stands, we got just 3 guys who are serious about starting something up…so it will depend on the rest of the guys in town as to what we will do.
hmmm…personally though I still don’t know if I’m willing to go through more dissapointments and flakers lol. At this point I quit and am done with this shit, but ozzy if anything improves let me know.
This is what the forum should HOPEFULLY eliminate. Anyone that wants to be part of the scene, either competitively or casually, will at least put the effort in to join and keep up-to-date with what’s going on (even if that’s checking weekly or whatever).
I can also read through posts, find info and other misc tasks to upkeep the forum in my free time while at work. Hopefully it grows over time. Or at least people TRY the scene out once if they have any amount of interest.
Well, there are five tags already in the 360 area. I sent the PM to … 14? or so people from this thread and recommended everyone also tell their friends that play, too. Hopefully it generates something.
Let’s hope it goes well man.
Well I posted some topics to discuss what rules we’ll use when we do a tournament and when the next casual event will take place (as well as where). Hopefully some people reply.
Still no PS3 users, though. Where did you hide them all, Eldon? >.>
Do any X360 users in toontown want to buy my TE stick? PM ME
I don’t even know if the PS3 people I know even check SRK…
Well ge t them on board man, if this scene is ever gonna start we will need to get everyone’s attention on a single area so annouce hosting sites and info.
Site’s going well. We’ve had good turn-outs at the small casuals/events we’ve held between either console. There are eight people currently playing in the PS3 gatherings and five currently in the 360. That’s a fairly large number, considering we had nothing until the Hi-Tech tournament.
I encourage anyone that is interested in playing fighting games, Street Fighter being the main focus of course, to check out the forum and get in touch. Even if you are learning, there are people of all skill levels interested and playing!
Yep.
I definitely need to move.
oy
