Saskatchewan Players The Time Is Now!

I think we should all play on the PS3 version.

<_<;

Learn to use sticks. I would.

Well I think the ps3 controller would be easiar to adapt to then the 360, but I think in the interest of fairness we need to have 2 set-up’s. From there, the guys can decide collectivly which console they prefer.

You guys aren’t seriously going to run stuff on two different consoles? Segregating the player base is a terrible idea.

You can do two seperate console stations for casuals and stuff. But those people have to realize its only gonna be like that for casuals. Come tournament time you have to choose one console or there will be some big problems. So best to just cut that problem out and go with a set console whichever it may be.

Everyone but Saskatchewan thinks it’s a terrible idea, guys.

:\

Well, with a small player base actually keeping in contact with Rick between meetings, I’m pretty sure he’s going to run out of energy to keep trying. If people aren’t going to give him the respect to at least call/post a message/send an e-mail about if they’re going to be there to a scheduled event, it creates a tonne of frustration on the organizer’s side. And yes, I know calling people and blah blah blah… but if that doesn’t work, because people flake out or flat out do not give enough respect to reply in any manner, what then? You end up with the 2-4 interested people willing to put their time in. At that stage, it’s better just to run from home and be casual.

Well guys I’m officially retiring from attempting a "scene"for pretty much the reasons Ozzy said. I’ve tried my best to accomodate everyone and look after everyone’s best interest when it came to starting this scene…but from I have observed it just seems like people don’t really have that much interest to put in the effort into making this happen. It’s really a mute point to explain how and why this came about, but the bottomline is that this"scene"isn’t going to happen anytime soon in the near or distant future.

I do want to thank the guys who did make the effort for the few gatherings we did manage to organize, and I also want to thank the “outside” guys for giving us some pointers on how we should build and organize this. The intentions where all good, but the interest and commitment was simply lacking and eventually lead to the early destruction of our scene. I made 2 good friends in evan and ozzy from this who ordeal at least and I will certainly be sure to plan weekly casuals with those 2 dudes.

As for everyone else, well there isn’t much so say lol. Maybe in every other blue moon we can gather for some casuals in larger numbers but that’s about it. This isn’t to sound overtly dramatic or depressing, but I’m just being realistic about the circumstances about our scene…it was a nice dream but reality had t sink in.

That came quickly. I was excited for this and I want to play all the time but I never know what’s going on - it seemed like nothing. When were these “scheduled events”? All I remember hearing about was one event and I went to it. I never had Rick’s number for a long time but he had mine. I assumed I would somehow find out if something was going on, whether he called me or if it was talked about on here. I guess I was confused as to how things were going to happen or I just missed something.

I know my schedule sucks - I’m pretty much only available Fri/Sat/Sun but I hope I can join up for those weekly casuals if they’re on those days. I always play on 360 but I don’t mind playing PS3 if there’s a stick around I could use. Even if it takes a little getting used to, It’s no big deal. I play terrible anyways

Even though we won’t be hosting any" events" anymore, me/ozzy/evan are stil planning on getting together every weekend for some casuals…so in a sense SF4 will still be played but just not to the grand scheme we where hoping for. At any rate, anyone is welcomed to our weekly casuals of course. The only request I have is that anyone who wants to come, get in contact with me before the weekend to le me know if you are showing or not. PM me so I an send my cell and email, and I will provide all the details about our weekend casuals.

Good luck, everyone.

It’s a shame we all couldn’t just pick up a stick.

:coffee:

Don’t quote all of Saskatchewan for your scene.

We’re going hard here in Regina! Its small but its a start. If you guys REALLY wanted a scene, EVERYONE would try to make it work someway somehow.

2 cents and change.

That’s just it: Rick is stopping trying to organize because people are not trying, or being courteous to him. Those of us that want to play in a “larger” setting and put the effort into it are few, and we’re going to just do small, friendly casuals instead. That’s where this is going/has gone.

The reasons for failure are obvious. Pick one single console. Let everybody know that’s what it’s going to be and host weekly or bi-weekly gatherings. Put the word out in as many places as you know.

Usually you will start with a small player base, and you go with that and let it grow. You can’t go two weeks and expect huge numbers.

The player base in Winnipeg wasn’t always large. It took the efforts of a dedicated few, like nYo, to host weeklies and establish themselves. Over time the player base grew and we have a modest yet large scene overall.

The answer here is simple. Pick on console. People who are serious about learning to play this game competitive will have to go along with what is being done.

giving up… come on man, if he cant do it, then let someone else step up.

This thread needs more effort…REGINA, WHERE YOU AT?!

Uh…5 posts up.

I was speaking on saskatoon’s behalf, I have no idea on the situation in regina but I’m hoping it’s better then what we got going in toon town. Although let me state this, the reason that our toon scene has been destroyed is not because of" consoles" or anything doiing with being un-organized. The simple reality is that the effort from people was not present, no one is willing to get on this board and keep up with the news or even join any online groups so we can keep everyone posted. No one wants to call or keep in contact, and at this point it’s a bit frustrating to constantly call everyone and try to act as a “pipe line” for everyone.

There is only a few guys in town (me,ozzy, evan, eldon) that have any real interest in starting something up…but everyone else just seems rather indfferent to this whole thing. If the interest isn’t there then there is no reason to bother, I’ll just keep with the small number of guys that do want something and stay with that.

dude wtf, its not even been a month

LOL

No kidding.

Sask has trationally never been a good spot for large communities, especially since our only arcade doesn’t feature any SF4 cabnients or recent tittles. Although as I’ve said before, there will be weekly gatherings but just not to the extent we had intially intended. It’s just gonna be casual fights between a few guys, it won’t be massive money tournies like I had hoped…sometimes you just gotta deal with what you can get.
