I just got a HRAP: SA, and just realized that there’s a “snag” – whenever you move the stick in a direction (left in my case), you’ll hear a “creak” sound, and the movement isn’t as smooth as moving the stick in the other directions (though you’ll only notice this if you’re moving it slowly). With that said, it’s more of an annoyance factor than performance.
The odd part about this is that if you move the stick around for a while, the differing sound and feel become non-existent. However, move the stick for a while, and the problem arises yet again…
Any solutions?
P.S. Yeah, I searched for a topic similar to this…
Is it sort of like a faint “knock” sound, accompanied by some very weak extra resistance at an angle about halfway to the gate? Mine does that too when I move it slowly. Been annoying me for years even though it doesn’t affect normal gameplay. I got mine individually for a custom; it’s not in a retail stick.
But yeah, I noticed this problem in 2 of the 3 sticks that I owned (though the other is a Hori stick), so I’m guessing some people have noticed this issue.
Yeah, I’ve noticed this at some point for all the JLF’s I’ve had. I have a habit of taking my sticks apart and cleaning/lubing them, even if they’re new, and that seems to make it go away. I can’t say what it is or what causes it, but it does seem common… and harmless.
I had the same problem recently so I opened up my HRAP3 to see the problem was. I found that the 2 screws that are used to hold the Joystick to the case was getting loose from wear and tear. I tighten it back up and it’s good as new.
Maybe that’s the same problem you guys are having?
Note: I put in a JLF awhile ago. So it is not the default sanwa stick that came with the stick.
it sounds like there is some of the joystick grease on the inner dustwasher… if you feel like opening it up, take the joystick out and see if there is any grease under the 2nd dust washer, that can sometimes cause it to stick… i cleaned mine off and it was smooth as butter.
I had something similar happen to me. When doing qcf back when i passed through the corner it would hit a snag and i could feel the stick pop up. I opened up the case and cleared some wires out of the way before closing it back up and made sure the stick was able to sit cleanly. That managed to fix it actually.
