SANWA STANDARD VS SILENT

I am having trouble choosing between standards and silents sanwas. i was leaning towards silent so i wouldnt have to worry about playing at night but during my research i have heard people say that silents feel a little too different and one person remarked that he “dropped more combos” because of the silent buttons.

so im worrying if the silent buttons will negatively effect my game play. i am more on the casual side but am working to getting serious. i have the hori rap 4 kai with the hori hayabusa matte buttons.

how would these push buttons compare to one another?

What up with threads that should be in Tech Talk appearing in General Discussion?
Not like people in Tech Talk wants to see this, because they have a thousand of this same thread topic.

Could’ve sworn I moved this bullshit yesterday.

Moved now too.

Should I message you or dev if it happens again?

I have the silent Sanwa buttons in one of my VLX sticks and the standard Sanwa buttons in another. The silent buttons aren’t completely silent, however if your game volume is loud enough you will not hear button presses. In my experience the silent buttons do not negatively affect my execution in any way. As a matter of fact, I feel that the non silent Sanwa Denshi buttons can be quite sensitive and I accidentally do a move that I did not intend to use. While the Silent buttons require a bit more authority when pressing them which can be a good or bad thing depending on your personal preferences.

Sanwas silent buttons have a foam pad inside the rim which fits under the plunger. This is what makes the buttons silent. If you would like to try both you can simply buy the silent buttons and play a few games with the foam in then a few games with the foam removed to see what you like better. I personally prefer Sanwa’s silent buttons because it kills two birds with one stone for me: It makes the buttons less sensitive and it reduces the noise.

If you find yourself liking the silent buttons, pair it with a silent JLF to compelete the experience!!! It’s nice being able to play without making a bunch of noise. I actually find my own clicking and tapping to be a distraction while I play.

It feels a little different, but the difference in sounds allows me to play at night while the kids are sleeping compared to normal OBSF-30’s.

Here’s a comparison in sound I did a few months ago…

its still loud in my opinion.
2016 and no fightsticks with little touchpads as buttons…:stuck_out_tongue:

Just get a set of Little Kahuna pads from Paradise Arcade Shop for your existing Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons and call it a day. I’ve tried a bunch of pads and those are the best compromise.

I think they are just called Paradise Silent Pads now but yes, I agree. Best out there. Closest to feeling “normal” without compromising too much in terms of sound.

@perilX
Not THISTHIS. The pads designed by @Moonchilde

The Little (and Big) Kahunas buffer the plunger-to-switch impact, not the plunger-to-cylinder floor impact like the pads found in OBSFS buttons. Much nicer IMHO.

Looks like a perfect opportunity for you to put that maker cap on, and invent!
…and while you’re doing that, please integrate haptic feedback motors into each button pad…so you know, we can experience actuation feedback (which the current longstanding solutions already provide)

The quietest button combo to date I have are the PAS OBS-MX reds w/o-rings.

You can also adjust how you actuate the buttons. No need to slam on them OBS-MX reds just light pressure or grazing your hand will actuate them to the point you’ll think your pcb or buttons have a short(accidental ex moves)
