I’m making this thread for people, like me, who are just starting santhrax (sent, storm, capcom). Any pointers or anything related to this team would be greatly appreciated. One question to start off the thread (hopefully i’ll get reply’s and get a lot of people to give some good info) sent should be first right? in what situation would u put storm first? or is my perception of santhrax really thrown off? thanks
i just started to play thrax competitively too. up until now, i’ve been using watts, msp, and blackheart/storm/cyclops, but i’m trying to use better teams now. thrax and row. a few things i can point out to you from my experience of about 2 months now…
- storm should always be first, unless you’re playing a matchup where sentinel is better. storm’s better first because 1) she’s a better battery, 2) she can do LAxxLS into HSF and then sent can finish off for the kill, 3) she has better overall matchups than sentinel, and lastly, 4) storm w/ sentinel + commando, then sentinel w/ commando is better than if you put sentinel first, because then you have sentinel w/ commando, and storm with commando. sentinel uses storm, but not as much as storm would use sentinel.
a few pointers.

learn to get a LA xx LS off of every situation. air combos, counters, crossups, etc. IMO, the best way to do LA xx LS is to go up/forwards, and then down forwards, since it puts them on level to get hit by twice as much lightening. usually, if i go u/f x 2, i’ll get about 18 hits except on sentinel / jugger / blackheart. if i go u/f, d/f, i get about 25 hits. but LA xx LS is probably storm’s no. 1 source of damage.
-
with sentinel, work on double rocket punch combos. they’re probably his best source of damage. another thing with sentinel, is learning how to DHC from LAxxLS to HSF. that is one of the best ways to get a 2 meter 100% combo, and it’s also the easiest way to get storm out of the fight.

learn to NOT always rushdown. storm and sentinel can both rushdown like a mofo, but santhrax is a very diverse team. if you’re winning, you can run away, forcing your opponent to mess up, and give you a better advantage. if a magneto player is try to rush a storm or sentinel in the air, he’s 90% chance of losing and getting his ass handed to him. just watch out for blackheart, storm variety, commando, and cyclops while running. if you get hit with an optic shot and a smart sentinel is in play, you’re going to have 40%+ damage done to you. with sentinel, it’s VERY easy to bait another sentinel to get hit by corridor, RP. once you learn flight manuevers and you get a sense of when you’ll definitely hit the corridor, throw a RP at him at the same time. it’s a free 20% damage (that low because it IS sentinel)
that’s about all the advice i can give, aside from individual strats, resets, combos, etc. but that’s my observations / experiences from this team.
Hmm. I have also been playing Santhrax for a few months. However, my experience with the team is varied from m1x4h.
- In my opinion, it’s better to start Sentinel. The advantages are that he’s a great battery because he can do massive damage with commando without using bar. On the other hand, Storm can only do damage with lots of meter. She has to have 3 bars for the opponent to be scared of hailing assists, or DHC of death. While Storm can runaway to build bar, against good players, they will be able to catch you when you touch the ground, you have to come down sometime. The other way to do it would be to rushdown to build bar, which is risky against teams with fast AAs that can beat capcom.(psylocke/cyclops)
There is one exception: While it is true that Storm has better matchups, I would only start Storm if the other guy starts Cable. This means that Cable also only has one bar to begin with, so if you rushdown correctly, at most he can hurt your assist only with one AHVB, and then afterwards, it’s hard for Cable to regain bar. But, in all other situations, I would start Sent. It’s true that you lose the DHC of death, but in my opinion, it’s better. Better battery, good damage, still have a safe DHC. Now that I think about it, Instant DHC to Hail is also more useful than instant DHC to HSF, (outside of a combo of course.)
Edit: I have a question. I seem to have the most trouble playing against Scrub or Storm/Sent/Doom, mainly because Doom keeps on beating commando. Any advice?
Ya, i’ve been thinking and i usually play sent first (even on cable, will get to that later) because i just think his rushdown is better for the team because storm needs meter to rape efficiently and if sent dies storm/capcom isn’t really too bad. Although what m1x4h said seems good also.
There’s only some situations where i don’t play sent first, Cable with a pissoff AAA is what really screws my sent. Sent vs Cable with decent AAA i can handle because cable runs on meter, start the round with 1 and he’s toast. I just rush that shit down and he isn’t able to build enough meter up to punish. But if he gets a good AAA (capcom, blackheart, Cyclops, doom sometimes messes it up) totally messes up my sent rushdown and he builds meter and im toast.
Thanks for the info m1x4h and liquid, it’s helping me get my whole thrax strat assembled. Any1 got some way to beat a cable with a good AAA? i usually just play storm and get early lead then run my ass away but any1 know a way to just rape him? Thanks
She has to have 3 bars for the opponent to be scared of hailing assists, or DHC of death.
umm… no. getting hit by one hail is usually enough for your opponent to be scared to not call randomly anymore. storm, unlike the other 3 gods, isn’t about killing in one combo, or killing quickly. her game, is the same as the exact way justin plays EVERYBODY. she’s a bait. she’s a rush. you dont’ spend your life running away or rushing down. her s.hp, s.hk, and tri jump lk beats out almost every single attack in the game. you’re basically trying to out prioritize your opponent and go for the kill taht way. storm’s better on point because she wears your opponent down, and you don’t have to do much. your opponent will get tired / frustrated fighting storm, so then when sentinel comes out, he can kill your opponent in about 3 seconds. storm’s not for the 100% easy kills like the rest of them are. she’s about wearing your opponent down to where they’re both physically and in-game wise unable to fight.
as for fighting cable with a good aaa… depends…
for commando, and cable’s running away… dont’ do something stupid like hailstorm. you’ll get shot. typhoon cable down and doing slight damage to commando, and call sentinel drones out. the drones will do more damage and lockdown for you to zone. just watch out for ahvb on sentinel. if your opponent has a single meter, is about to die, yadda, and sent’s full, dont’ worry about it. if sent’s about to die, cable’s got full life, or full meters… then don’t do the strat i just said. you could also time your way to get on top of them. but be CAREFUL!!! super jump between the shots, and try to get high enough and a safe distance enough to vert typhoon. that will lock him down SLIGHTLY. don’t depend on this, because commando’s still live. what you want to do is be able to get in as close as possible, always holding back, and get cable in block stun. this way, he can’t call commando. now you use the drones to lock him down and rush. WATCH FOR COMMANDO though
for blackheart, this strat wont work, since blackheart’s inferno >>> storm runaway. this one is easier though. you can safely dash in rush, as soon as you get in, since blackeart’s assist isn’t deadly if you’re in close on them, you can feel free to rush. just stay ducked and covered for shots.
if he’s using doom, it’s the easiest, surprisingly. it’s easy for doom to be hit by a vert typhoon, and it’s easy to get behind him, especially if cable’s back jumping.
keep those strats in mind. my sentinel isn’t nearly good enough to tackle cable yet, so i can’t give advice in that area.
but keep storm first. it’s more of a reality tear down than an in game one. it gets your opponents frustrated from poking, small damaging combos, and their inability to get in on her. with sentinel, it’s like, you get caught in one reset, or one hit, and it’s done. storm / commando isn’t that great of a feat. if you use that order, you’re better off using magneto/storm/captain, only because magneto can handle himself better on point than sentinel can. sanford uses sentinel first, beacuse he’s got the beastliest sentinel on the east coast. justin, and almost every other thrax users plays storm first, because of the mind games she plays, and the wear she does to your team.
Spoken like a pro m1x4h. That was some good shit man, i think u just persuaded me to use storm first. keep the advice coming, new people always appreciated cuz the more info floating around in this thread the better.
Now for my question: Any way some1 can describe the timing of LAxxLS into HSF? been trying in Practice mode but can only land in randomly, can never get the damn timing right. thanks
extremely basic breakdown
reasons to start storm in santhrax
-storm with sent-y and capcom can create a barrier that is hard to land a hit against
-storm can kill off of one hit (except sentinel)
-your a storm player and just like storm better (believe it or not, i think this is a major reason, and people just overlook who they like and play who is “best”)
-storm has hailstorm and sentinel doesn’t hahaha
reasons to start sentinel in santhrax
-because its not really “santhrax” without it, its just storm/sent/cap lol
-sentinel has excellent tools at zoning
-one fast fly takes 60%-70% off normal characters
-he has an unblockable
-can punish assists harder, and in more situations than storm, also, sentinel can bait with this too, due to storm being behind him hence sentinel always has that frame kill to storm that catches anybody airdashing or moving to protect their assist from being hurt badly
basically…in a nutshell, you should play storm or sentinel first because you are a storm or sentinel player (unless you see a horrible trend in you losing with somebody first, then winning when you switch, then, in that case, do the obvious)
Yea, that seems to be my situation right there. My sent is pretty defensive, a lot of dash backs, calling capcom to protect, laser fly unfly…
However, my storm has trouble. What are some mindgames you guys use? I typically use drones as a shield to get them into blockstun so I can rush down. I also do a lot of dashing back and forth to lure out their assist, counter-call cap, and hail. Other ideas?
This team is fuckin cheap
Thanks for that enlightening post
There’s gotta be more thrax players here! cmon guys lets keep this thread alive. Any1 got any nice vids of people playing thrax? If you got a question ask it! worst case would be i answer it, i might not know everything about thrax but im not a complete noob lol
I use to be a Santhrax player… Now I just use Magneto teams.
if you want, you can just hit me up on aim. i don’t usually have an away message up… so keep trying to get in contact with me… just refer back to the thread… i think you might have tried to im me once, but idk…
Ack I been away from marvel so long that I forgot about fast fly combos O.o
I start of with Storm on point and build supers while using Sentinel drones to get lockdown and when I see things get a little too heavy I just use CapCom AAA for a “get out jail” card. Than wait for an opening into LAxxLSxxHSF!
anybody have santhrax vids?
thrax is a tourney winning team plain and simple u can play real lazy and win…well at least its better then storm/sent/cyke =/. As for who to start i like starting sent its alot safer IMO and if im in the lead i can DHC to storm and run away like the whore we all know she is… and as for Mixup it is a cheap team but once u get that catch wit magz u tear Capcom a new one xD
damn, so many of my avatars are being used, like what!!
nelson, did you show that avatar to chris? damn
hahahahahaha.
Yo fuck Nelson. Taking my shit… LOOK AT MY AVATAR BITCH!
Yeah nigga what.
MUSTARD Bitch.
Make me.
Word.
u_u
are there any other threads like this one, but with the different teams like Combofiend, Rowtron and stuff like that?
Not that i’m aware of. If you need advice on a team try making a thread in General Strat and ask for help, most likely you’ll get some experienced players to help you out
