It’s either SF, Oakland or S Cruz. Why are there no good mid peninsula scenes? =/
If I were to organize gatherings, where would players want the gatherings to be?
We could use campus resources, the boardwalk, my house, or maybe even somebody else’s house/dorm/whatever.
Feedback, ideas?
Building community hype is always a plus! Go for it!
One of the best ways to organize gatherings is to get a UCSC student council approved ‘fighting game community club.’ That way you can get weekly casuals at a designated location on campus (as long as you reserve a room ahead of time and an enrolled student) and get a small amount of sponsorship - hint prizes and food :D. If you even manage to form it before UCSC starts, then you can make a Kiosk desk during the Frosh orientation week. You can, furthermore, announce weekly gatherings at boardwalk, or elsewhere, and build the FG community both on and off campus. But one of the biggest benefit is to hold Student Council sponsored tournament. I’ve held a mid-size tourney with 30 - 50 people at UCSC, some even traveled from the outskirts of Nor Cal, and managed to get a fair community going. Whilst I didn’t have to spend a penny, I had to invest a lot of time and energy to get it moving. Regardless, the outcome was super!

I, personally, wouldn’t want to involve the school if some craziness goes on- plus I’m honestly too lazy to jump through the hoops that student council provides. However, if any other campus members would like to take the initiative to start a club- I’d gladly support it wholeheartedly.
The way I see this actually going down is by word-of-mouth and flyers on the bulletin boards and the 'naught. I’d like to see this happen, hopefully without spending too much money since I have most of the equipment to just bring.
Man, I need to get some decent pointers on 3S…even after getting a few friends into it, it’s still kind of no challenge. And the silent or super-obnoxious guys at arcades don’t give away too much : /

Its just a lil 1 bedroom but i got a condo that can hold a few ppl for gaming.

Damn i haven’t really been on these boards for a while, let a lone play any SF. But Ive recently been getting back into the groove of things. And im down to play anytime (considering that i don’t have work or school >_>) I also have a friend who’s down to play also. So count me in if any1 in the area is playing SFIII/CvS2/VF5

during the summer it was just me and jesse holdin it down. anyways, i’ll definitely be down there for 4/20 and 4th of july because those days are epic down in SC. maybe i’ll come down sooner if school and work permits it.
