Note This tournament is a fundraiser so a portion of the prize money will be donated to the organization running the event.
I don’t really care who hosts an event on what date, but now people might be torn between the two. Seeing how many more Street Fighter players are centralized in San Jose, this might take people away from the San Rafael tourney.
I posted the same in the other thread. What I don’t like about this cat is that he/she has completely ignored the fact that his/her tournament date coincides with someone else’s, and the post came after.
And not to mention the shameless spamming on the forums.
Edit: Also, what are you guys fundraising for? For all I know, you guys are “sponsored” by a frat.
Sorry about the spam, if you saw in the other thread some one suggested to post this in the Pacific North forum, so I did.
Yes, there is internet at the school (just one of us has to login for you to access the tinernet) so if any one is interested to livestream the event, please PM me ASAP.
As for the prize break down it will be posted tonight.
The funds for this fundraiser will go towards a professional business fraternity at SJSU.
When we first planned this, we did not know that it coincides with the San Rafel tournament. There is not much we can do because we have booked a room at the student union about 4 weeks prior to the event.
Once again, this tournament was not intended to clash with the San Rafael tournament, so we’re really sorry for the coinciding dates. We can’t change the date, unfortunately, due to restricting scheduling.
The prize breakdown is as follows:
1st Place - Femme Fatale Fightstick + 50% of prize pot
2nd Place - 30% of prize pot
3rd Place - 20% of prize pot
Also, the intention of the tournament is a fundraiser for a business fraternity at SJSU. The money is going to support it. But we wanted to do a tournament to also support the gaming community for anyone who wanted some good practice against quality players. With NorCal Regionals exactly one week after this tournament, it’d be the perfect opportunity to hone your skills and see how you stack up.
So to clarify - there is no real direction as to where this raised money is going towards? Supporting fraternities in my mind is like saying paying for beer. Also, you still haven’t clarified how much of the $15-20 is going towards the prize pot. Thanks in advance for the clarification.
This is a tournament yeah, but this is going to be a fundraiser as well. And the organization is a Professional Business fraternity just to clarify, not a social, the money is going to be allocated and used to support events and give charitable donations in the Bay Area.
It’s going to be split pretty much in half. But there will be a significant portion given to the top placers. We’re projecting a sizable attendance and the prize money is determined by the amount of entrants. The stick itself is also valued due to its rarity.
