Hey guys, I just moved to the bay area to go to school in SF. Currently residing in Daly City and itching to meet some good players out here. Went over to the metreon but I hear that people dont like to play Super there. Where do you guys normally meet up? Looking foward to getting games in. Later.
Traditionally it’s just been SSF4, although in theory, we could play MvC2. Garou, VF5, MK3, or chess.
I guess it’s just based on street fighter being what people want to play.
Welcome to the Bay. We have good comp, but outside of tourneys, we’re a bit scattered, to say the least. Your best bet for local sessions are:
Red Fleet: small session every other Friday. PM him for details. We all suck but we’re slowly leveling up.
SFSU: the campus in DC has vanilla cabinets, soon to be upgraded to Super. I haven’t been to the campus (yet!) so I cannot vouch for the community there.
Metreon: pricey but decent players come through there time to time. I’m down to play there myself as I work a block away, just post up to meet and greet
Starbase: nice arcade across the Golden Gate. On Wednesday nights people bring several Super setups and have fight nights with IPlayWinner streaming. A lot of top comp plays there. Highly recommend making it there at least once.
Eudemonia: nerd-dungeon out in Berkeley with pay-to-play setups. Comp ranges from beginner to somewhat-competitive. A little pricey as well. Check it out though, I help organize it.
Other than that, try to make as many friends as soon as you can, and get there contact info, as lots of people have private sessions throughout the week.
Ah okay, I started getting into ST a while ago and I’ve been trying to find some HDR comp here in the city. Anyone else interested in learning that game?

I think SFSU might be a great place to meet, as it isnt the first time Ive heard the name… only thing is Im not a student so I dont know if they would let me in (LOL) also they dont have super :/. I dont really know where Berkely is. Can I get there by BART? Metreon was nice when I went, the only thing is the $$. If we started getting a community to go there do you think they would set up a Free play night? Their system is just a modded box, I dont imagine it would be that hard. Maybe like 5 bucks for a wristband. Just a thought. Im really starting to itch for any type of comp. Also I noticed theres an event for KSII going on at san jose bar and grill… I think that isnt that far from me… I might be able to bus it pretty easily. Maybe we can meet up at the Metreon or something this Weds? I dont have class until about 1, my school is only like 4 blocks away.
The Metreon Tilt is corporation-owned, so it’s hard getting them to do much of anything. We somehow got them to upgrade to SUPER though, so it may be possible to eke out a freeplay night if our numbers are strong enough.
I’m going on vacation with family next week, so I won’t be available until the week after unfortunately. But I can do a Wed. afternoon, it’ll have to be brief though since it’s only my lunch break :lol:.
Eudemonia is accessible by BART. SFSU doesn’t seem to mind outsiders.

I’m sometimes on XBL, as well as a few others. If you catch me on XBL, feel free to send me an invite. Haven’t really had the time to drive out to the sessions, because of school. Maybe in November.

Going to the Metreon today as well. Will be there around 2:30 - 3:00. Was there between 5:00 and 9:30 last night. SFSU for me on Monday probably around the same time. Wanna check out that area too. Ill update though. Hope some people show, I lucked out last night and had some fun. Later.

to my knowledge it dosent but it might be worth going anyways. I wanna see what different places have to offer. I think they have 3s. Ill play vanilla too. people to play is what im mostly looking for. Anyways whoever wants to join me ill be going to sfsu today probably around 1.

Anyway I live in the lower haight in SF and I’d love to meet some new people to play ssfiv with. I’d be down for a meet up if anyone’s in the area, but I’m sans car so trying to keep it local.
I’ve got two TE sticks at my place so it makes muni a bit easier for anyone visiting, or I can go to your place. If it helps, I’m not a creep and usually get along with anyone haha. Lemme know!
