No I don’t follow up on the fighting scene or know the technical terms for specific combos or watch videos. I play casually and do what I know. Yeah I can wavedash in Smash Bros and know all of Marth’s cheap tricks, but that’s one of the few games I have played people on. I don’t get to play SF/Tekken/SC with others cuz I don’t go to arcades or have friends who play them atm.
Now I’m gonna take all of what you said, don’t worry. But a lot of what you said I did admit to you here and when I saw you. I don’t play people and that’s partially why I came here. But The games I know weren’t really bing played last night except CvsSNK2, and dispite everyone saying they don’t play it much, an hour of minimal playing every once in a while against real people gives you so much more experience than what I’ve gotten. So I was happy to go over there and play and learn some stuff. I donno if you really liked me being there but I can’t really get good in a few rounds to give you a challenge so…either I’d have to spend many hours getting beat down and learning the hard way or someone would have to teach me a few things. I didn’t want you to have to do that so I mostly watched you play and tested my playing style to yours.
I had to take a break after about 2 1/2 hours of losing to let it sink in, but yeah, I learned stuff. However, when I kept saying frame advantage, you were probably thinking of some phrase tournament people kept saying. I have heard frame advantage from people talking about Balanka and Sagat (and I think Sakura’s), who have their supers go off with less animated frames than other characters. That’s what I thought frame advantage was so yeah…
So my point is…no I’m not all that knowledgable about fighters. But I do play them a lot. I don’t own a stick and I don’t hang out at arcades, but I don’t really like the fact that people who don’t do those things aren’t deemed people who ‘play fighters’. I love fighters and they’re the biggest genre I play. But I’m just at a point now where my friends are off doing other things and don’t want to play them so when I play games, its usually a fighter for about a half an hour-an hour at home. Thought I’d come and see how you guys work and obviously, you guys are a whole different tier than me (way beyond casual). That’s cool. Probably my fault for posting in the ‘tournament’ section. But that’s where a friend said I should post to see where people go to arcades. I gotta start somewhere ::shrug::. Sorry if that was the case.
And anyway, there are fighters which aren’t even in arcades, some which have large tournaments and fanbase. Some people I know are saying the biggest fighter atm is Smash Bros. I don’t know how much truth there is in that, but when one year I go to a Smash Bros tournament and there’s 20 people there, and the next there’s 425…I think that shows something. Especially since Smash Bros is now 5 year old. And not in arcades.
