Samurai Spirits aka Samurai Shodown - 2019

The PSN (and steam, but PSN is better) version of 5 Special is pretty great and there are some excellent players on it.

I don’t necessarily agree, especially in a game like this where the damage off wft is so high, being disarmed is more dangerous than it has been since SS2, and there’s nothing like State Of Nothingness to mitigate having a crappy wft. Dash up throw off recoil isn’t anywhere near as good an option as just being able to combo into a super, and it’s a lot more risky especially if the opponent is looking for it.

I also don’t really see the comparison to Charlotte unless it’s in a 3s Elena to Charlotte’s Chun kind of way.

It’s possible that I’m biased due to him always having been decent-to-good but not great in just about every game he’s been in. That said, if he truly is too tier then it kind of shows how nerfed a lot of the cast of this game truly is imo.

The change to the weapon position after WFT makes it less dangerous than it was prior to the patch. Also, using a combo into WFT isn’t as straightforward as most seem to think. During the first round, yeah it’s good. After however, then it becomes an obvious point for rage bursting. I’ve seen players hold off on using it just because they know rage burst is on the table.

The weapon can still be forced offscreen though and it’s harder to get your weapon back even if you rage burst. And even with rage burst on the table, people still pop that in the first round sometimes :joy:

Still, being able to combo into WFT is another important tool just like roll>command grab was in 5sp and characters who can do it definitely have an advantage.

Like I said earlier when I was comparing Ukyo and Charlotte, you can REALLY feel the difference between having a comboable WFT and not. Even if the weapon is harder to force offscreen now, the ensuing scramble to get the weapon back is insanely in the favor of the guy with a weapon. At worst you lose like 5% health, more likely you’ll take at least 15-20% more health in addition to the initial combo before they pick their weapon back up. Occasionally you win the round outright. It’s a huge gamestealer even if it was better pre-patch.

Of course, the fact that I’m comparing Ukyo’s piece of shit WFT to Charlotte’s swiss army knife WFT might make the comparison a bit skewed, but still.

I guess I’m missing out.

I think a comboable wft is a really powerful tool, especially when you’re 1 round ahead of your opponent. Even if they rage burst you still force them to potentially play the last round without rage meter.

You are. I get solid connections to Japanesers on PSN with my Vita, it’s insane. The steam version is definitely better than Fightcade but not quite as good as PSN.

Puzzle and Dragons skins coming for Genjuro and Shiki.

Are those official?

Unfortunately, I sold my Vita. I’ll probably stay with the 5th Special on Fightcade. 2.5D is a difficult investment to like, if not done to my preference.

@lolesports care to give a breakdown on Basara from the older games?

Well if you want to try and get some games on Fightcade sometime let me know.

Yes

DHi everyone, I’m playing everyday now and anyone who wants to play or add me can. Gt hiimm216

I have a few shizumaru questions. Can I let go of charge in between rounds and keep charge as long as I’m holding when next round starts. 2. Can I get extra charge time in between rounds. 3. Can I change the button I’m charging and hold the same charge?4. Does each slash hold a different charge? So if I’m holding light and med slash both are holding a separate charge?

Let’s say I’m holding light slash. And without letting go of light slash I start charging med slash, then I let go of light slash while continuing to hold med slash. Will my charge time transfer to the med slash button?

Shizumaru wants to charge light slash primarily. So if you disarm him he has to let go of charge to pick up his weapon. I’m trying to figure out ways to increase and save charges.

Yes, charges transfer, so you can switch buttons your holding down to keep the charge.

That makes him a lot more versatile.

Basara on the 15th.

I’ve been looking forward to Basara, especially since t he ey didn’t put Amakusa in. So he’ll be a fun character and I imagine because there are so few movement options, he’ll be stronger here than he was in 5sp.
