Samurai Spirits aka Samurai Shodown - 2019

Learning your recoil cancels is KEY, especially in SamSho 7.

Whiff cancels are also very important but recoil cancels moreso if you’re just learning.

Is online dead already? I can’t find anyone and no one joins when I make the room.

i feel like certain times of day are better than others. but i imagine most of the casual players have moved on

I’m curious to see now that Evo is over how many people stick to it.

well I’m kinda a pessimist so i think the player base will taper down slowly then snk fans have kof to look forward too and once that’s out i think the game will lose some more players.

I’m glad that there’s going to be another season of dlc characters for samsho, that will help in keeping interest in the game.

Cross-play with PC version when that comes out could help a lot, I don’t think it’s likely to happen thou.

I think this game has a lot of legs left in it. The DLC will keep interest for awhile and KOF won’t be around until late next year at the earliest.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all if Samsho makes EVO again in 2020.

i hope you’re right! i love this game, been a while since I’ve had this much fun. i would like to see it at evo again.

People seem to really like the game, top players included, so I imagine this is gonna have legs. I hope they make a sequel that’s more along the lines of 5sp

I don’t see KoF taking players away from Sam Sho. The game is too different. I don’t fuck with KoF because of the 3v3 team setup and the other complex mechanics to wrap my head around. I surely won’t be dropping this game for it

Yeah, I mean, I like KoF but SamSho is what I’m into so I won’t be chdncing for Kof15 when it drops.

SamSho is always a different kind. Good thing they really emphasize this time what makes them relevant than just going with what the trends is like being another SC, SF or etc fighter like they did before as a result they ended up buried on the other pile of Fighters they are trying to mimick.

Part of what makes me think this game will have legs to stand on is the fact that the game is genuinely different from most other modern fighters. Where most other modern fighting games tend to reward offense and require a lot of up-front labwork, Samsho is simplistic and heavily rewards patience. Caters to a different audience than most of the market.

Game is fun and the bulk of the work is figuring out match ups, not training mode stuff. That’ll make it so that people can basically always play it.

Agreed. It’s always interesting when I talk to people who have just come to it and I tell them that pushing lots of buttons is detrimental.

Anyway, hadn’t played SS7 in about a month or so and finally messed with it last night and had some fun with Earthquake vs the AI.

I’ve heard they aren’t going to fix the Dojo mode, which sucks right now, @d3v did you hear anything to that effect? Shame because that would make the game playable even beyond it’s lifespan at tournaments.

It’s not even that - both games are played by the same SNK folks pretty much, so there’s a crossover there much like how there is some between Mahvel and FighterZ

Haven’t heard anything about it.

It’s here.

For anyone that’s wondering, the NGWT is actually hosted by a third party and not SNK themselves. This new one is totally different.

Made a Wu vid. There are effectively three parts to the video.
The first part is just to show her cross up, many times you will hit behind them and still land in front due to the pushback on hit.
The second part is demonstrating the distance you want for what is effectively an unblockable rather than a setup (I don’t think you can set it up but the situation does occur in matches). Technically speaking it can be blocked but I think the switch from crouch block to stand block to crouch block is too fast.
The last part shows a method to discourage forward rolls for most of the cast. Three characters get to forward roll and still beat either setup, Gen, Kyo, and Shiki. Char and Haoh can beat the qcb+A. Wu and Yoshi can beat the d,d+B setup.
Last note, if you press a button too early Charlotte can beat Wu’s d,d+B setup, but there is a sweet spot where you can hit Charlotte and combo but her dp misses if she goes for it.
Hope you like it.
