A simple email to SNK and devs would’ve been enough to bring this to their attention. I’m already hearing ppl bad mouth the game cause of this
It’s more than “bringing it to their attention”. What you present also has to be enough to spurn them into action. Knowing something’s wrong, and actually feeling the need to fix something that is wrong are two different things. And sadly, shaming a company into making a fix is often the most efficient way of doing things because very few are so altruistic as to take extra time fixing issues that they don’t believe will cut into the bottom line.
people screamed for lower input lag for SFV but Capcom didn’t listen for 3 years, then finally lowered it by about 1 frame. i think players are so used to companies not giving a shit about the hardcore base that they have to scream and make a scene to get a response. luckily SNK is listening. the fans appreciate that and i wouldn’t be surprised if their tone turns into a nicer one the next time they spot a problem.
It’s almost like high input lag is not a good thing
New Darli and Hanzo stream gameplay:
yellow color Hanzo ftw. oh and dem teef on that dude! i’d donate to help him get corrective dental surgery. poor bastard.
Some random dude sending you an email about some random shit isnt going to spur you into action.
Customer base pointing out a trusted member of a community found a serious issue with your game will.
This is literally how the interaction between costumers and companies should go.
idk about that but I’ve sent complaints via email to a number of service providers and companies and saw the bugs/issues resolved almost immediately. At worst I’d get a non-automated email reply thanking me for the feedback. I don’t expect less from a company the size of SNK. Matter of fact, I’ve emailed them a few times and got quick replies. Granted I was not reporting an issue but you get my point. Maybe my view is skewed because I have never emailed them during the days of XIII where it took eons to have something addressed?!
I’d be a total hypocrite if I said that an email message is enough to give incentive or encourage someone to act, but I’d argue that if one wants to be considerate towards a company and its customers, their first course of action towards informing the company is through a private channel. When that fails then feel free to take to twitter and social media.
“Your input lag sucks” automatically forwarded to the entire dev team’s mailing list should raise red flags. This is so trivial I don’t understand why they didn’t test it themselves, especially after the debacle that is SFV and tekken7?! Is it not an industry standard to test your stuff for common errors?
Just more reason why “Your input lag sucks” should not be taken lightly.
A different time a different issue. Has more to do with UE4 than SFV/TK7. Devs now, from both ends, have experience on how to deal with input lag so it wouldn’t be hard for samsho team. That is the bright side of this… hopefully
there were updates for UE4 that lowered input way before Capcom did anything about it so i think my point stands. companies are not going to do fix anything extra unless they either love their customers or are afraid of bad press.
My point also stands. Not every update to UE is going to handle input lag. It could be small improvements to ray tracing or pipeline etc.
It’s natural when you are the pioneer of something you’re going to face all the obstacles head on but let me shed some light. The update you’re talking about is UE4.19. If I put it on a timeline
July 2017: Due to some constraints, SFV still runs with UE version lower than 4.10.
October 4, 2017: Development of UE4.19 ends. UE4.19 promises around 2 frames of input lag reduction for 60fps games. UE4.18 is not out yet.
October 23, 2017: UE4.18 is released.
January 16, 2018: SFVAE drops.
March 14, 2018: UE4.19 is released.
October 24, 2018: SFV 4.5 input lag update is live.
Between the release of UE4.19 and the 4.5 input lag update is only 7 months. An upgrade to a newer version of an engine is in itself a huge task. Also, the time cost involved with certifying a patch can be heavy, so devs need to roll out changes effectively and in a timely manner to meet with the new season. 7 months is phenomenal in my book.
SNK devs might not necessarily have a firm grip on using the engine yet, but I speculate that Samsho is straight off the bat using UE v4.18 or later. If not, yikes. The issues of 2015/16 need not repeat themselves in 2019.
i wonder if Capcom and SNK were better off using UE3 then? Xrd runs extremely well and the inputs feel perfect.
as for how fans communicate with the developers/publishers, yes it would be nice to see everyone be polite but i don’t think it’s going to happen. players have been getting burned with half finished games on release, questionable DLC, and so on. i’m not saying that justifies rude behavior but i can understand peoples frustration with video game publishers.
Hahaa that guy doesn’t compete or anything to feel any particular way about a game lacking. He’s there to show off his pseudo science. His past time I guess
Wut, you realize WydD has very precise methods for measuring input lag. Besides, the work that guys like him and FourWude do in terms of input lag testing is very important for the community.
MK11 uses unreal 3 and the game has no input issues. NRS managed to develop a fantastic looking game on such a dated engine.
At this point it’s hard to call it UE 3 anymore. It’s more of a fork now, just like GoldSrc and Source are forks of the Quake 2 engine.
Meanwhile…
Rimururu confirmed as DLC character.
I guess the leak was right. I wonder when Basara will be revealed and whether the other unknown newcomer hasn’t already been revealed.
I declare myself a Tam Tam main and request that no one else play him. You can have Darli Dagger, idc
