Samurai Spirits aka Samurai Shodown - 2019

While I prefer The Last Blade, Samurai Shodown II and IV are still my jams. I am just hoping that Samurai Shodown will be good enough to join them.

Good luck with that. None of the SNK staff, who are mostly former Garou or Samurai gumi folk, have expressed interest in it. Current SNK is only focused on their passion projects for console, which is why we got a new SamSho (Kurokiā€™s) , and also why a weā€™ll likely be getting a MOTW sequel (Odaā€™s) in the future.

On the topic of characters, fuck Genan and Wan Fu, would have been lame fillers for the vanilla version and stuff few people would pay for as DLC, if anything Galford should have been sharing space with both in the trash bin. Green, blue, red, etc skin is a lazy way to do freak characters and AFAIK Samsho never delved into different races so Genan stands out like an outlier with poor explanation. Basara and SS3 design of Amakusa will fill the freak role well.

Hey! Gen-An is love!!

My boner is ready.

I feel the same but they have more chances to be added than 64 and 6 folk so Iā€™m kinda also loathe their whole existence right now.

To a Japanese mindset, particularly of the period, thereā€™s something like 5 races in just the cast of SamSho 1. And Gen-an is Japanese, even if he has green skin.

Not that those characters NEED to get in. But they probably have better odds than any given character from the later games.

Worried about minorities being represented in a fighting game set in Feudal Japan.

Okay.

Duck King hasnt been back in KoF yet, not gonna hold by breath on SamSho.

I have no idea why anyone would want a sequel to MotW as the balance of the original was abysmal and they would not be able to reproduce the nice presentation. Even so, it is amusing that the most profitable SNK franchises are the ones getting sequels yet you consider them passion projects.

P.S. Duck King is an awesome Fatal Fury character. I would still prefer the less popular Jubei Yamada as he is the seriesā€™ one and only judoka and those are even more rare than dance type fighters.

MOTW is happening because Oda wants a sequel. Heā€™s stated that itā€™s what he wants to do so many times now. And everyone involved has stated that these are their passion projects, Samurai Shodown is Kurokiā€™s. Itā€™s pretty easy to see when you know whoā€™s on the team - as I mentioned, these are a lot of ex Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown devs.

I will be frank. I always considered Real Bout Fatal Fury to be greater than KoF or MotW. I even think the original Fatal Fury Special is more polished than MotW. Maybe he wants to redeem himself by fixing all the busted nonsense in MotW.

Iā€™d love to see another MotW. I wanna see my boy, MARCO RODRIGUEZ, realized in a glorious HD. Being in the background of that one stage in KoF14 ainā€™t enough.

I want to play as Kimā€™s sons in another game. Bring on a Garou sequel.

Nobody wanting to do another Last Blade is actually kind of a bummer. Thatā€™s another series where almost the entire cast is fantastic.

You will probably have to make do with Khushnood Butt if they ever make a sequel.

Donā€™t remind me : (

LB2 is a pretty game to be sure, but everyone I know whoā€™s actually spent time with it and learned it to some degree says itā€™s wack. To me that says something.

I know literally nothing about its competitive balance, but from messing around in single player years ago on Dreamcast I can tell you that the characters deserve better than to vanish into the void. All but maybe three of them are crammed with personality.

Itā€™s just got a lot of wack mechanics and infinites. Same story as a lot of of SNK games from that era, I guess. I havenā€™t spent a lot of time with it, just know people who have, but it just never grabbed me the way SS did.

I think SNK made the right decision going with Samsho over The Last Blade. As cool as The Last Blade is, I donā€™t think the characters are nearly as iconic as Samshoā€™s nor do I think the series would have the same impact on casuals looking to get into a new fighting game.

I like the Sam Sho characters and aesthetic to Last Blade. I like the gritty and supernatural feel oozes.
