I was playing Samurai Shodown V and V special edition like crazy lately, and then all of a sudden I fired up Samurai Shodown II, a game that I havent played in a long time, and wow!!! it blew me away again, still the best in the series…
is it really?
Yes. Hands down the best SS game (though 0/5 Special is pretty damn good)
SS IV is the best. Love that game.
IV was the shit but i’ll always love 2 the most for some reason
lucky bastards
ss2 was the last one i played. arcades suck in upstate ny
but i loved that shit to death
I liked Samurai IV more than I did Samurai II I hate Samurai V though
4 was way too easy for me. I could have that game beat in more than enough time to make it to all the bosses.
Damn right, SS2 is the BEST fight sword game released until today (imo) this shows that new games dont necessary mean better games.
SS2 rocks
Besides mvs and acs what consoles is SS2 on?
I enjoyed Samurai Shodown II more than any other game in the series, too bad it’s next to impossible to find in the arcades these days.
As far as non-NeoGeo home conversions go, Samurai Shodown I and II Collection for PlayStation (Japan only) was an unfortunate mess, suffering from horrible loading times and numerous hacked animation frames, not to mention the fact the “ending sequences” were inexplicably censored. The best conversion of any SS game to date was probably Samurai Shodown IV for the Saturn (again, Japan only), that game simply rocked.
I have a copy of SS2 for my SNES. I don’t know what else it’s available on.
No… you don’t.
As previously mentioned, SS2 was only ever released on Neo Home, Neo CD, and Japanese Playstation… oh, and PC several years later.
I seem to remember a guy with tuberculosis kicking my butt over and over again in SS2.
That’s wrong on a lot of levels.
Shit, you’re right. I win the dumbass award for the night. Samurai Shodown and Samurai Shodown 2 are definitely not the same game… I have no idea what I was thinking.
Exactly, tell me a modern fighting game, tekken and all the other crap included that can touch the stuff from CAPCOM and SNK, tho Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast came pretty close in my book.
I would love EMULATED!, and hear me EMULATED releases of this games on PS3 PS2 or whatever, I want the same shit as the arcade, untouched! no cinemas, no crapy FMV, no flashy 3D backgrounds like the conversion of KOF 98 for the Dreamcast (tho it rocked), pure unadulterated CAPCOM SNK goodness, and I even want to have to put coins in with a button. oh how sweet is that!!! (drooling).
And while I’m at it, please use UNIBIOS 2.0. and I’ll have six-pac and and pork rinds to go please.
Samurai Shodown is SNK. But a new version with updated graphics would kick so much ass. Although personally I got to ask am I the only one that liked the Slash/Bust system in place in SS3-SS64-2.
I personally do not dislike the Slash/Bust system, but I found it to be a little shallow, bust mode is more refined and deadly of you master it well, but the slash mode was unfair against a not experienced player, Samsho 3 rocked too make no mistake about it, and I agree with the updated graphics, just as long as I get the original in the same package, It’s just too hard to let go of the NEOGEO and CPS systems, I cant! I just can’t! I won’t!
