Isn’t option select EX tatsu better for more dmg + mixup?

I don’t think ex tatsu will reach the teleport though

if you’re close enough to the corner and go for a crossup, sometimes it’ll auto-correct his teleport to the corner.

against balrog, you need to be baiting with focus attacks and neutral j.mk (hit confirm into cr.mk -> hp.shouken) if he is spamming light straights.

against blanka, cr.lp beats all blanka balls clean. it’ll pop him up and give you a free mixup that he must block unless he has meter for ex ball (meaty low will beat everything he can do). fireball works too but watch your spacing and dont be predictable or he will punish with ex-ball or slide on reaction. on his wakeup, remember that he has no effective reversal without meter. if you knock him down and he has no meter, go for a mixup everytime, he is free. hit him with meaty jumpins or a meaty low blockstring, both of which will beat everything he tries (without meter). with meter, he can still be safe jumped, but it’s strict 1frame timing, so you might be better off baiting ex-ball with an early-release meaty fireball. honestly though, most blankas are complete scrubs and you should just jump on them on wakeup, even if they have meter, until they learn how to reversal ex ball (which actually takes a small amount of skill since you cant mash).

against rufus dive kick pressure, you should always be option selecting downback + throw + cr.hp. sakura’s anti-divekick defense is one of the best in the game so you can’t really complain

Seirously? I hate divekicks, always feel that I can’t do crap about it

Lol wait till they play Yun/Yang that OS feels useless against them (Not saying it is), they just have so many ways around it. What I’ve been working on in AE is using her st.mk as an anti air works pretty damn well.

Usually my EX tatsu catches him with the very last part, the launcher part, and then I can get dmg/mixup/whatever.

Hmm I’ll try it in training mode, if this works than fantastic! I always OS EX DP

I just mash s.lp as a warning and to stuff it.

Yeah… Yun has an irritating spammable crossup dive kick that is hard to punish as well.

While I admit it’s easier said than done, all it takes is some time in training to get the timing down of how to counter it. Once you have that down, start bodying Yun/Yangs.

What do you guys do against Vegas who likes to walldive away from you? Would dash > shouken work?

Take free screen space and push him to the corner.

yeah, if you’re already 3/4 of screen away from vega, dash > srk wont reach.
build your own meter, take the screen space or ex otoshi on reaction if you think he’s not going to follow up with anything

vs. viper:

Added the link to the first post.

At power up this weekend I ended up making top 16 yay! (lost to Wolfkrone and that damn viper!). I found out a few things fighting some guys in the 1st pool. You guys probably already knew but I didn’t see em in the thread…

Dhalsim: If your close to him while he’s grounded and he wakes up and does his super just lk tatsu you’ll hit em and start your bnb.

Ryu: If your close to him when he does Shinkuu Hadouken you can throw him. (I’m not sure if you can lk tatsu I just threw him to see what would happen).

Zangief: I like U2 in this fight. I was going against a guy name Weapons Left (He beat me in losers but right after we did a 1st to 10). He was doing the knee drop move out of the air to see how I would react and from there he would pop out a standing 720. I’ve never played anyone who could just walk and 720 no cancel or whiffed moves at all. Anyway I used the U2 to stop that belly flop and knee drop…

I’ll post more when I leave class…

i’ve been playing AE and keep running into a buzzsaw of a zangief. for the most part, i can zone him out with st.roundhouse and cr.fierce his jump-ins, but then he’ll catch me with a short empty jump into ultra. my question is, would st.fierce be a better anti-air to protect against both short and regular jumps? i know it’s been talked about in other threads as being an under-used AA, but i haven’t really had a chance to implement it or try, and i want to know if it will do the same job.

also, watch out for sagat’s standing roundhouse (the spinning one) can be cancelled into ultra, or ultra can be activated right afterwards, so it’s not punishable…watch for this shenanigan because it’s got me a few times and i didn’t know what hit me until my opponent told me that that’s what was happening. my initial response would be to cr.fierce into ex shunpu…but i’d just end up eating the full ultra.

Tournament strategy: never play your main in casuals. You might end up showing everyone your tricks and giving too much information away.

Unless you are already gdlk of course or you’re not aiming to take 1st at the tournament.

We played after the tournament that night. During casuals I was using my Vega…

Oh, my mistake then. I thought you said you played the ft10 before playing him in losers.
