I need tips in the Chun-li matchup

Does Sakura have anything at all to deal with stand strong? It seems like low forward should work but her strong beats it clean…is it one of those things I just have to deal with and just avoid it?

I try not to play a footsie war against Rose because like Chun, I tend to get blown up pretty hard. Air tatsus are decent for getting in but you’ve got to be careful because although her cr.hp is slow it’s range is pretty good. I don’t know what NQ means but you can punish bad spirals with st.lk into DP. Usually they’ll be using the hard one which is hardest to punish but if you see them cancel it from a normal, just EX DP or Ultra 1 because it’s a terrible block string.

Oh and try to see what the Rose players wake up habits are. Most Rose’s I play seem to mash on backdash or EX Spiral on wakeup so option select that shit.

Really? Cr.HP has so much recovery, there must be a better option.

Also if Rose does FA backdash, mp sho it on reaction

What do I do against Abel’s wheel kick? I feel like it’s free chip damage and nothing I do stuffs it. And on top of that, I can’t punish it.

Get in closer. They are extremely punishable on block. You can even reversal shou the normal versions. AFAIK they’re are all about -10 with the ex being -6 or 7. Think of it like tiger knee or dash straight. At the right range you can jab on block.

LK WK is a legit footsie tool, mostly safe is spaced right. Other than that, yeah, punish with MP Shouken.

Try st.MK, that should stuff it.

c.hp works against wheel kicks

My bad lol, the boards I normally discuss/play FGs with is actually a Final Fantasy XI forum, NQ means ‘normal quality’, basically non-EX.

edit: As for option-selecting EX spiral/backdash, what would my options be? Is her backdash short enough to sweep?

The Roses I’m playing must be pretty low grade if the rest of you are having trouble with the MU. I feel like it isn’t really a problem as far as moving around her, getting in, etc. Granted some of her longer reaching pokes are annoying to get around, but cr.HP is pretty reliable for those to whiff punish on reaction…

I don’t know why he put LP there either but it seems to work nicely. You can’t sweep her backdash, it’s one of the best in the game. I think Fergus said you could MP Shouoken it on reaction but my reactions aren’t that good, I need to test this some more.

I was thinking of doing the option select Skatan posted in the OS thread with c.lk/st.lk xx HK Tatsu~HP DP but again, I don’t know if this will work I need to hop and try it out at some point.

How do you guys deal with Bisons that Devil’s Reverse/Headstomp spam to gain meter? There seems to be I can do since he can alter his trajectory at what not. This matchup is a pain in the ass but it’s mostly me getting hit by s.mk so much.

st.lk x shunpu ~ os hp sho does not work on Rose, mp sho might work though.

If Bison is coming at you with DR, just do j.mp/nj.mk to beat it. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO U2 IT.

If he’s doing it full screen, close the gap, walk him into the corner, you might be able to punish him on landing with shouken if you’re close enough, I never really attempted to.

EDIT: This is all on block to open up the opponent and set up a frame trap

I’m guessing I’m missing something, but every time I cross someone up on block with a tatsu I get my face fucked when I land. How exactly does what you posted work?
