I find it kinda hard to cr.hp his jump ins. They’re kinda steep… when he use I think its jp. fp? With the claw angled down. Sandwich after the first time he didthe wall throw 3 times in a row, he tried it again and I just lp - sho outta there. The first 2 I tried to anti-air then the 3rd I just gave up lol.
Can someone give me some guidance with the Dhalsim matchup. I swear down I’m gonna break my disc anytime soon. A friend of mine plays Sim, a REALLY good Sim, one of the best in the UK so I play him quite often, so this matchup I kinda need to learn. I can sometimes beat him with my former main, Akuma but it’s like 9-1 in his favour out of all the matches we’ve had (300+ he’s really good! -.-) but as I’ve been learning Sakura, I’m trying to use her full time and I don’t want to resort to other character when fighting certain matchups. I really need help, as I can’t get in, and when I do eventually push him to the corner, I can’t stay in, and when he runs away I feel like breaking my disc as I really don’t have the patience to try and work him all the way to the corner on the opposite side of the screen. Any tips guys? I try to use the EX otoshi to get in but I don’t use it sparingly, very rarely in fact.
Is his name overmostheads?
Nah, KayOL78, he’s mostly unknown in the offline tournament scene, but the funny thing is he doesn’t regard himself to be a good player, so he doesn’t attend them. But he’s beaten a lot of the UK online giants man, he’s pretty sick.
Ok based on my viewing of my replays I have to following analysis. Because I think its important to point out the bad, its also good to point out what good things you did do in the match. Positive reinforcement encourages repetition as they say.
Vs Balrog
+Managed to keep some decent spacing
+Scarce on the fireball usage in the Balrog match-up
+Used cr.mk effectively
+Made great reads in 2nd & 3rd rounds
+Patience
-Not completing combos to max damage
-Not doing the correct links
-Tried to out-poke balrog when he obviously had the advantage
-crouch teching at the wrong rhythm.
-Backed into the corner too much.

Vs Dictator
+Patience
+Meter Management
+Decent reads
+Decent spacing
+Good mash baits
-Not completing combos to max damage
-Not doing the correct links
-Not Punishing Dictators whiffed pokes
-Letting him get away with headstomps

Any further advice would be appreciated.
I dont have much time to reply in detail but from what I can see, the most important issue is the fact that you drop almost every chance of a combo. Practise your hit confirms and links. Balrog also jumped in for free a lot, use c.HP to get him out of the air. Focus the dash punches, if you make a right read, its a free combo. Even tho fireballs may not always be the best option, i would say they do help control spacing in this match up and builds meter. Random EX Shoryukens are a big nono. Lastly try to play more rush down, atm you just seemed to hang back and be defensive when Balrog has pretty poor reversals anyway so learn some set ups off throws and knockdowns.
Running an online tournament with friends this weekend, going to be matched up against a Hawk, any pointers?
Just zone T.Hawk out, don’t attempt to rush him down unless you’re really ballsy
T.Hawks love to jump, so DP AA those jumps, condor dive on block can be punished with HP Shouken.
Throw a fireball and bait a jump, AA DP those jumps. Be wary of whiff condor dive shenanigans, like condor dive whiff into U1. If you don’t jump before the flash, you’re caught in the U1.
T.Hawk is a lot easier to handle than Gief. Just remain calm during their pressure. And don’t abuse the fireball too much as it’s asking for a condor dive and you do not want T.Hawk up in your face
Will his dive beat out most of my moves if I try to AA it directly? Also when he does actually get in, what’s the best way to get the hell out of there?
Cr.hp should beat it but you’re better off blocking it and HP Shoukening it, better damage and knockdown.
If he’s a good T.Hawk player, he’s gonna be mixing up his tick throws, it’s purely a guessing game, you can EX DP but it’s quite risky unless you have 3 bars.
I was thinking of taking my pocket sakura to a small tourney and eventually a major some time soon. what match up should i study up for? What i’m asking is, which match-ups are the most common for sakura to encounter at majors and tournies?
Yun/Yang/Fei and unfortunately, they’re all very bad matchups for her. Bison/Seth/Akuma/Sagat would be more, I’m just calling off popular tourney characters that I see on stream, also learn Guile, he’s not that common anymore but it’s also tough for Sakura.
Shit same character my main has issues with =\
I think once you get to a certain point, you don’t really differentiate much between good or bad matchups, unless the matchup is really bad like 7-3 and/or the character can easily shut down certain vital aspects of your game (such as okizeme) or can get away with brainless shit (like everything Yun does), or something like that.
Either that or I guess I’m just confident in a lot of my matchups.
I wouldn’t be as confident since my sakura is still pretty scrubby. I just need to get her footsies game down packed and work on getting 10/10 cr.mk to dp.
Fei is not a horrible matchup for Sakura.
Can anyone explain why Uryo does on wakeup, cr.mk xx lk.shinpu on Rufus?
Can you show us a video example?
Im at work right now so i can’t go on youtube XD but i specifically remember whenever Uryo faces a Rufus, he does a cr.mk into lk.shinpu.
You can use as much fireballs as much as you want. If you space it properly and he does that turn punch move, you can cr.mk xx hp.srk
