against Blanka, you want to bait his slide and blanka balls with hadoukens.
right before you think he is going to do it, do a nuetral J RH; it stuffs all Blanks balls, even EX.
On occasion it will also stuff the vertical ball (don’t take my word for it)
you really, really need to avoid knockdowns in this matchup.
I usually try to not jump in on Blanka’s wakeup unless it’s safe because he has so many options (vertical/horizontal blanka ball, lighting)
i’ll upload some matches of me playing some blankas if you want.
same here haha
many Dudley players forget they have a counter…
which all of the high level one’s don’t, so usually if I play a Dudley 10K+, i’ll do light hurricane on wakeup.
unless they have revenge meter and it will cost me a round or match.
Shouoken isn’t safe. Don’t use it unless it’s for anti-air or as a combo finisher.
Against Blanka : the first step is to not play against a laggy player(at least 4 bars), the second step is stopping his rolling with cr.lp. There you go. You just won against 4/5 of the Blanka online
Best advice I can give you is: don’t just throw it out randomly. If your opponent blocks it you’re gonna eat a big punish, plain and simple.
Learn to hit confirm with c.lk, (c.)lp, c.mk xx Shou or c.lp, (c.)lp, c.hpxx Shou. The link is fairly easy to hit with a little bit of practice. You lose some damage due to scaling, but you reduce your risk by a lot.
I have been able to scale it back some by not spamming it and waiting for an opportunity. I often am able to use it after a focus attack-dash on crumple and rip it off. I have also been using it on wakeup ASAP to get some space - is this a bad habit too?
I usually get the low punch kick combo in, so I see how it would be logical to see if that was hitting before throwing out the Shouken.
While you are all being so awesome and helpful, when is the best time to use the hurricane kick? Sometimes I use it to close in or stop and aggressive guy, but it also gets hit through a lot. Thoughts?
That’d be cool. I saw your 30 hit video, and I must be honest that I don’t understand how to cancel ( I believe - this is where you stop the Shouken while it is still going, right?)
FADC - basically hold down focus just as the shou starts up then dash cancel out of it. This is REALLY easy to do with EX shououken because the cancel window is so huge. So EX as a wake up tool is not a bad idea at all if you have 3 bars because it’s safe (most of the time).
Using a hurricane kick (especially weak kick version) is pretty safe, so use it whenever you want to move forward while applying pressure.
But above all, don’t be too predictable, because everything can be punished if you’re predictable.
Against Blanka, I usually just wait for him to do something then but my fierce button to work. c.fierce beats pretty much everything from blanka. If they go for their xup tactics, just st.fierce. But this strategy generally depends on how good your reactions are.
And when I get a knockdown, I start my rushdown until Blanka gets away or starts to use EX up balls. Then I play the waiting game again.
haha that’s awesome you saw it!
I have some places to go today & i’m also pretty hungover so i’ll upload some of them Blanka vids tomorrow buddy
Why don’t I see more Sakura players using j.hp over j.hk? J.hp is capable of stuffing just about everything: Guile’s c.hp, Bison’s s.hk, Dhalsim’s b+hk, Balrog’s s.hp, Cody’s b+mp whereas j.hk typically trades at best. J.hp is also capable of crossing up if they try walking under you whereas j.hk will whiff.
Probably a jump trajectory thing.
Active hit box is red, your hit box is green outline.
If you notice for jhp your active hit box extends well below your “passive” (for lack of a better term) hit box which is why it stuffs so much stuff, but in exchange you lose a lot of overall horizontal and vertical range.
Yeah you can pretty much do j.hk at the tip of your jump and still combo on landing. J.hp does have the much better hitbox though. I use them both situationally.
hey Ryganwa, were can i find the pics of sakura with her hitbox like u have there. i used to have them but my hardrive crashed so i dont have them anymore.
They have the video’s on Eventhubs.com

I’ve noticed some Sakura’s like to do a sweep after EX Tatsu, but wouldn’t it better just to do Otoshi?
Only reason I can think of is that sweep builds more meter?
I suppose sweep gets you the untechable knockdown and puts you in prime position for a safe jump or mixup. I think I’d still prefer the reset (for the mixup) or Otoshi (for damage/untechable knockdown + mixup for 2 or fewer Otoshi hits)
Crouching Guile
Just wanted to rage against crouching Guile’s hitboxes, I think. He’s not like a Blanka or Akuma, because c.lk c.lp c.hp ex tatsu does actually work, but for some reason it seems twice as hard to hit the c.hp link than on any other character. And c.lk c.lp c.lp whiffs the 3rd lp entirely. Argh!
And Guile’s spend soo much time crouching.
I don’t do alot of hitconfirms against Guile. flower kick if he is sitting on charge and not poking. cross him up meaty on wake up to get in. It beats flashkicks. If he whiffs flashkick from a distance you know what to do. Just punish don’t hitconfirm long recovery specials that whiff.
I’ve noticed this. It also happens with Cody’s cr. lp, cr. mp, CU.
