Sakura Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Ok guys, having trouble getting in on opponents, especially ones with fireballs. Any tips at all? I’ve pretty much given up on Sakura’s fireball game.

Depends on where they are. If they are clear across ex otoshi is great. If they are center fadc hp shory does nicely. If its close just ex hado em. Also with the right timing shumpu’s will bypass fireballs.

One of my friends plays a ken and he’s hado crazy soo I know who you feel seeing that we have the equivalent of a spat sunflower seed for a hado

fireballs shouldn’t bother you, just walk in pressure, that little chip dmg isn’t that much of a concern if you can corner them.

Against fireball characters you have a few options to get in:

  • hk shunpu: With the right spacing it punishes fireballs and is relatively safe.
  • air shunpu: Get some more range from a jump than they are expecting.
  • focus: Simply focus fireballs and dash forward. Don’t do this too close though.
  • ex otoshi: Especially useful against slower fireballs (ie. Dhalsim) or when you have a good read.
  • ex shou: This goes through fireballs, but is punishable w/o cancel so I wouldn’t rely on it.

It helps to mix up your approaches too, but these should help.

So I keep getting stomped out when it comes to air to air. I usually throw out a l.k or m.k sometimes air shunpu. What do you guys do to keep control of the air?

j.mp and air shunpu are her best air-to-air moves.
Air shunpu has the best air-to-air hitbox on it’s first revolve (on it’s 2nd it’s good against anti-airs).

Cool I noticed yesterday that if I timed my air shunpus right it was a formidable force. Thanks skatan.

Is there an easy way to conistently combo fierce Shouoken > FADC > c.HP? i get it like 25% of the time. im trying to make my way from a reset Sakura to a combo intensive sakura. im slowly realizing that reset sakuras are no good at a higher level of play unless you’re baiting stuff out.

I’m assuming you mean cl.hp since c.hp can’t combo from sho.
The two main things you should do is input the dash before hitting focus and plinking it.
i.e. sho, dash, mp+mk, hp~hp+mp+lp
After that it’s just lots of practice to get it down consistently, always go for it in matches as well whenever you can because it’s just casuals anyway.

unless your plinking u have to practise, its her hardest link, if you got that down everything else is easy.

anyone of you guys had an u2 (PPP) not fully juggling after an EX Tatsu (midscreen?)
it just now happend to me with an Cody

You can combo mk from ex shou as that’s one of her trials, c.hp and mk have same start up and I thought hp shou fadc was the same as ex shou fadc, no?

If you do it too early it will, I always use kkk.

ex sho is atleast +4, hp/mp/lp sho are +3.

Oh wow, never knew.

Just to clarify, you input forward, forward then mp+mk? I thought it was forward, mp+mk, forward. If it works like you mentioned that would make things easier, I often have problems of a double dash coming out and getting owned.

Forward twice then mp+mk, you can even tap forward three times just to be sure.

I input it as forward, forward+mk+mp and it works for me consistently.

I do the regular FADC and it comes out fine and I get the link after.
