Sakura Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

It’s safe on block so you should try to stuff it during startup with something like st.hk or c.mk x mp sho/hp sho.
If you block it your best option is just a single c.lp that you confirm landing on block/hit, because if you press twice and he did ex headbutt you’re screwed.
If he’s doing blocked tap into ex dash punch a lot just throw afterwards or focus.

TAP has varying levels of unsafety based on how long Boxer charges it. At level 1 its only -2 so you can’t punish that. At level 3, it becomes -8 so that’s c.mk punishable, but the timing on that is not easy, and based on the spacing it may not even reach. Anyway, since its usually ambiguous as to how long Boxer has been charging, it may not be worth trying to punish it persay, but you know you’re at least +2 so I would probably just try to work with that.

This isn’t really a sakura specific question, but do characters take less damage based on how much health they’re missing? I can’t seem to figure out why else combos seem to do different amounts of damage during training mode.

At some point your initial hit will start dealing 95% and then drop from that even lower depending on their health.

I’m working on my bnb’s a lot right now and I saw a video on youtube yesterday that showed this crazy crossup kick. It looked like a j.mk but she’s facing the other way. I’ll link the video once I get home cause I’m sure I’m handing out vague nonsense. But if anyone knows what it is that would be awesome.

Also what are some of the hardest links Sakura has? I’m practicing all the ones I’ve found soo far and I want to make sure I work on all of them.

I’ve got all my kicks and punches into specials down pretty good and I want to expand my bnb’s. What are some good moves that I can use to build up my execution speed.

Thanks skatan and guttin, I was just goofing around with it on my lunch break and while i couldn’t quite nail st.hk on reaction, st.mk stuffed it everytime. even when I hit it late, cl.mk comes out which I should be able to cancel into lk shunpu for more damage. I also tried to practice just plain lvl1 focus into backdash against dash punches… that’s a bit more difficult once he gets close, plus the backdashing really gets me into the corner quickly. I’ll have to remember the single jab thing next time play against an actual rog, not something I can really work on in the training room. thanks again!

I’m having a lot of trouble with the challenge of cr.LK > cr. LP > cr.LK xx EX Tatsu. When I do the cr.LK xx EX Tatsu outside of the combo I can do it consistently with no problems. But as soon as I try it in the whole combo I can never get it. I’m either too late with the EX Tatsu and it gets blocked, or I just get a s.LK for a 4-hit combo. Does anyone have any tips?

you need to link the last cr.lk else it won’t combo since chaining light results into losing special cancel ability.

Yeah I was practicing this a few days ago, it’s a neat little trick but I wouldn’t rely on it cause it takes up 3 bars. If i remember correctly it goes, cr.lk > cr.lp > cr.hp XX ex shunpuu FADC n.mk. From the FADC you gotta walk forward a little and nj.mk at a certain spot. That’s how you get the weird kick.

@CrHustle : If you’re talking about the non neutral j.mk cross-up mix-up : it’s ex.tatsu>walk forward a bit>j.forward.mk/hk.
The timing is a bit tricky so don’t expect to use it reliably online since you’ll probably have to use visual cue.

@freegty Ohhh okay thanks. I would’ve never realized that. Is there any trick to linking a cr.LP to a cr.LK without it chaining or is that just straight up timing and practice?

Just timing. It’s a slight delay. Don’t bother practicing that outside of the trial though; there are better options.

I noticed something today. I was fighting Rufus when for the first time ever I actually connected with my EX shouoken to Shinku Tengyo. Well technichhally It went THROUGH Rufus. Due to the fact I never connect with it, I never realized it was ineffective. Is there a better way to combo into the Shinku Tengyo(Or Regular Shinku)?

I need some help with sakura’s safe jumps, how exactly do I know if i’m doing it right? I know to use her j.hp for safejumping, but I tried today against some chun player and just kept eating wake up ex SBK. Also in training mode is there a way to make the dummy do reversal wakups?

In training mode :
1/Choose the char that’s supposed to reversal as Player1 and Sakura as Player2.
2/Register replay : Use Sakura to throw for untechable then time your jump accordingly.
3/Replay :slight_smile:
