ok thanks i will try the shouken instead. any other good bnb combos?
Ya, so I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m having one hell of a time getting the ultra in after the EX otoshi. I seem to be doing it too soon and I’m not getting the kind of punisher I really want. Any tips or what have ya? Or is it just a “Training mode nao” kinda thing?
conebone: That’s a more detailed issue - you should check the combo thread for that one.
Z-row: Do you mean ultra after ex shunpukyaku?
It must be what he means. If the opponent is hit it the corner you should do the ultra right when they are at sakura’s head, if elsewhere you need to do it right when the hit the peak of their rise and are about to come down. It’s not giving the punishment you’d expect because of damage scaling, especially if you combo’d into the EX tatsu.
If you really do mean after the EX otoshi, I’m pretty sure that’s impossible.
Pfft, That one. That’s the one. Sorry 'bout that.
here’s how I get it to connect:
After the final hit of the ex otoshi connects, watch for the beginning of the downward fall animation…THAT’S when you should be triggering the ultra. Do the double qcb motion while the character is on the way up and trigger at the start of the falling animation. Seriously. Watch for when the character arches arches their back and their ass sticks out…that will be your visual cue to activate the ultra.
Doing a quick forward dash and then ultra immediately after. The dash puts you right at the distance so the full ultra connects, and it’s easy to time, if not a bit harder technically.
I posted this in the thread on ultra. Still feel this is the best way to learn it but do what works for you.
This.
It helps with the timing too, since you’ll usually end up doing it too soon and only get the last one or two hits in. Dashing forward usually gives you just enough time to put in the ultra and get in the hits you need.
I’m probably wrong but chaining moves together means comboing normals right? I was reading Sak’s frame data and it says some of her moves like cs.hp and cr.mp couldn’t be so I’m pretty confused.
i’m pretty sure chaining means a cancelling normals into each other
link means no-cancelling, just that the hit-stun is long enough to combo
Chaining means to Cancel Normals into each other.
For Links, you execute a Normal right when the previous is done animated.
Both Chaining and Linking lead to Combos.
But sometimes you have to know what to do.
Like for Sakura’s Hard Trial 2:
j.HP, c.LK, c.LK xx EX Shouoken.
You should not Chain the two c.LK together; EX Shouoken won’t come out after that.
You would need to Link the two c.LK together, then Cancel the second c.LK into EX Shouoken.
I want to incorporate more FAs with Sakura. When do you guys find its the best time to use FA?
I just got my TE stick and been working on this specifically. One thing I’ve found is that you can actually dash > ultra TOO QUICKLY. :lame:
Don’t jump the gun like me - be patient. Even after a dash you still have to wait a bit. I just gotta find that right timing now
i like to use them when people jump in or people spam hadoukens. when they hadouken ill absorb one fadc forward then neutral jump or repeat the fadc. but yeah ive been workin on those to. another good way would be to use it to bait your opponent into something then dash backwards or forwards depending on what he does and go from there
After playing champ mode for a while I could really use a break. Don’t get me wrong I love Sakura but thats for serious business for me lol. When friends come over I wanna have an alt. Whats a fun alt you guys think I should pick up? I’m not a fan of charging chars lol. Just curious and want a lil bit of variety. Hows Rose or someone? No Sagat. Hate him with all of my life.
I like ken because as much as Sak idolizes Ryu, she reminds me a lot of ken…
-
her st.RH poke is almost as good as Ken’s f.MK, except she isn’t as vulnerable afterwards
-
they both have multi-hit DPs and tatsus
-
excellent combo abilites
-
can’t abuse the ultra but both have their specific uses and timing is required (hers for combos and his as an AA)
-
he has a fun fake RH that lets you go right into a throw (preferably the cool rolling one)
-
flowchart ken makes it east for people to underestimate you when you go with ken
When I take a break from Sak, I go with Ken because he isn’t as strong as Ryu and he provides a lot of misdirection and psyche-outs, which appeal to my personal play style.
Just a suggestion.
Oh yeah, HIS FISTS ARE ON FIRE!!!
Why is it okay for Ken/Ryu/Akuma/Sagat/Guile/Abel/Blanka/Gouken/Bison to sweep, and when I block it, its completely safe for them? Although… when I try to sweep I get smash every time with another sweep.
don’t sweep, that’s the first thing i learned in street fighter lol
use mk instead (and if you know it will connect, combo into shoryuken)
and latency might have a thing to do with it, but even so…
I’ll try that, but the latency thing seems pretty legit. I know a shit ton of stuff that I know isn’t safe on block and yet they can always block it.
