I messed around with close standing rh for an anti cross up option. Mixed results… mostly negative really but some trades as well.

Thanks for the tips on the standing strong, did not know it could beat Roses crouching strong.

Fun fact, standing light kick either trades or cans dps. Only useful if you mess up a knee input (if you are doing a crouch light into knee chain, if the knee doesn’t come out mash stand light kick for a frame trap dp can).

Rose is one of the harder fights, especially if she doesn’t fireball in dumb positions. (hers has quite a bit of recovery, also why ultra 1 is nice).

Would the rufus tip be crouching point blank and baiting an ex messiah?

I have never really tried using st short outside of clp st lp st short combo, i will have to use it more.

Im very interested in hearing those option selects because outside of the obvious down back lp lk I dont know many… Also, regarding Ultras, i noticed you were using Ultra 1…any reason for that? I find ultra 1 useless in pretty much every match up.

Social skills come first. Then the gaming skills. If the former are lacking, the later don’t matter.

If I go to a tournament I want to have fun, not to have to deal with people that don’t know how to socialize. Geez.

I’ve noticed that a lot of Dan players in the videos ive been watching seem to opt for U1 instead of U2. I’m still extremely partial to 2, but you get a much better punish ultra and you don’t get put in a as bad position after you land it.

Ive still like, never seen them land it. Only time Ive seen it land was off of a focus punish, and thats still not a huge amount of extra damage and no stun. Ive seen stripfighter use u1 in most matches, never really seen him use it. I seen him use u2 against daigo, he lands it and he wins the match. I really dont get it.

The threat of having the ultra is probably why. Throwing fireballs becomes risky etc. Personally i pick U1 for Ryu and T Hawk and that’s about it. shrug

I use ultra 1 most of the time, you can only combo it with a air Hk into ultra, it has a big range and can be used mostly against guiles because they sonic boom spam sometimes on wake-up. U2 is really good against shotos. But still U1 has a big range and very good damage. U2 does not have really good damage when you use it on combos, but still serves as a good ultra.
Both ultras are good. Period

I use U1 because i can’t fadc all that well. Shit, i played Dan since vanilla exclusively. There was no reason to fadc anything but unsafe dp’s on block before. So yea, i can do it now, but i just don’t like it that much.

Had this argument with a bunch of people that i should use U2 because you can fadc into it. But the dmg isn’t all that good for the meter imo. Plus I’d rather use my meter on EX tatsu because it hits more then 80% of the time and is good for corner pressure and frame traps.

You’re really never gonna get the opportunity to use it after an AA dp all that often either against better players. The chances that they are actually gonna just random jump at you for you to do it at slim.

Also just having U1 is scary for your opponent (or you hope). Cause now Dan controls a better range against projectile characters. Can counter other desperation raw ultras. Against Rog it’s really good. Cause you should be neutral jumping against him a lot to punish dash straight. So neutral jump fierce into U1 if he keeps doing it. Now he’ll second guess throwing out dash straights so much.

I also am not the best at FADC either, but im trying to learn because I think Dans full potential is gunna be reached with U2.

Hp Koryu FADC U2 is 387. Thats not bad. But I agree, I use EX tatsu much more than I FADC, and EX Tatsu is definantly worth the bar of meter imo.

LP koryu to catch neutral jumps is pretty good tho, and then youve got the U2 to add damage. After all, damage is damage.
It makes koryu that much more dangerous…

Idk, catching a fireball with U1 just isnt likely to me. I suppose thats a good strategy vs rog, but you could just neutral fierce into a different combo for some added stun too.

I think everyone will have their preference, but I just dont see advantages with Shissho that outweigh Haoh. I think its cuz Ive been using Haoh since Super dropped, but obviously I used Shissho in Vanilla and I only landed it off of Focus or Stun, really…

Oh, but I can see how shissho would be good vs T.Hawk or Blanka. I think I might practice using it in that match up.

I can FADC pretty damn well… but I can’t do anything afterwards to save my life. Pointless. I use U1 90% of the time, the extra damage and the threat of countering a poorly spaced projectile helps a great deal. And if they don’t heed the threat… well then they’re fucked.

Blanka messes me up though, I hate passing harmlessly through him, and the recovery on Guile’s SB is so fast that he needs to be practically on top of you to counter him before he can block.

I think 95% of Dans hate blanka, it’s something about him that rarely we can counter.
If you suck at FADC combos i suggest: cMK+MP Gadoken+FADC+cMK+EX Dankuu
That’s my favorite FADC combo or just burn the hell out of your meter and koryu into ultra

I can do follow ups well, but its just the first fadc to dash that gets me.
Most good players wont poorly space their porjectiles, but are more likely to get caught by a koryu…

My favorite FADC combo is J.HK or FA Lvl3 cr.hp ex gadou fa cancel attack level 2 crumple dash foward then either cr.hp to hk dankuu or cr.hp koryu fadc u2 or u1. I can do this combo like 85% of the time, but i wish it didnt have to be in the corner.

I tend to use U2 when I know there is no reliable way to reaction U1 them. Case and point guile. U1 is great for Dan’s spacing game. Ryu spamming fireballs? FA Dash toward him, throw another one? ultra. Of course this won’t work at high level play; however, it shuts down a very large component of a fire ball characters game.

Only people I ultra 1 against are T.Hawk, Honda, Blanka, Ryu, Rose, Dhalsim, Balrog, Adon, Sagat, (Chun-li depending on the playstyle), Guy (If he elbows drops from a air roll thingy anywhere in front of you, you can ultra him).

Everyone else is Ultra 2 : )

Guy, you can also Koryu FADC U2 him in that situation, and many more, lol…
Koryu fadc U2 helps vs Chun using hazanshu, which I love to do when I play chun lol.

That sentence was for the focus attack through fireball into ultra. At high level play they wont throw another fireball making you that much closer to them. In all, its a win win. You can reversal ultra Honda’s head butt at certain instances. Plus you can reaction ultra the down portion of a butt splash and a head butt from far-mid screen. Rose has some high recovery on her fireball and gets you again much closer in her. How could you not use Ultra one against Dhalsim? U1 shuts down balrogs dash punch game. If adon whiffs a jaguar kick you can ultra (Hell you can reaction ultra a jaguar kick (his hop kick thingy used for pressure not the one he bounces off the wall)). Sagat is the same reason as rose and ryu.

Maybe you didn’t understand my guy statement. If he tries to elbow drop half a screen away you can ultra him.If he tries his dash over head or low hit kick shenanigans you can ultra him.

Oh yeah, forgot you can reversal ultra Cammy’s DP

Sometimes Ultra 1 will just fail at me, and I can never get anybody when they jump at me. It’s ANNOYING (>_<) It works very well when you FA somebody, and the last punch that Dan does takes a butt-load amount of the person’s HP. It will also always leave you wondering if Dan’s punch was so strong, that he just caused an abortion attack on the females stomach. After all, his punch lands on it the stomach perfectly…

I’m glad that I’m not the only one that noticed that. I usually refer to any match that ends with that hit as a “No baby” match.

… A Makoto winning with her ball-punch Ultra is also called a “No baby”. ><

If I know that ultra 1 will win the match, me and my friend just start singing "ceeeleebrate good times, ABORTION!!!"
