Zoolander is right. Ryu is fortunate that he can cr.kick and it will always give him the correct direction, but other characters are different. As soon as characters land the moves often go the wrong way, or throws are disabled, depending on the move and the situation. As for blocking correctly, I believe offline it is never an issue. The exact position of a character can not be determined online.
To clear some things up…
The “Thelo ExposedD Zoolander OG feds” we’re not tourney clips , they were casual games.
As for the discussion about headstomps and whatever. Some of you make it sound like it’s a unblockable-super-attack , lol.
I’m pretty sure that ryu/ken’s crouching fierce punch trades with the headstomp and knocks bison down.
I’m no sagatplayer. But this is my best advice as a bisonplayer :
-You BLOCK headstomps
-You remain PATIENT
-You punish followups with a DP (unless bison ends up behind you)
I do a cr short kick into a fierce face upper. looks like cr kicks will turn around and hit in those situations.
where would be a great place to look at many of these combos in action?
Sagat isn’t a combo oriented character so videos are scarce but ad lyghts out and I and join us in lobbies to see, and lyghts uses combos more then I do so you will definitely see some.
j.rh cr.mk low tiger = instant dizzy all u need
Yeah. I really hate that. Instant 90% combo.
j hk st hk hk tkX2 is even better.
^^^^ def
I suck at sagat mirrior matches though
As a Bison player I will say that to play Sagat competitively you must be able to tiger uppercut every jumpin. You simply cannot let Bisons do random jump ins and hit you: it’s a losing proposition. Even if you uppercut 80% of those jump ins that last one will still be a ToD combo and you will lose.
The only time Bison should ever get a successful jumpin is when he correctly guessed a jump over a tiger shot right as you throw it. Any later and you should have the time to uppercut him due to his high jump arc.
Reno’s stupid hs/dr tricks knock me down more often then not and then the ambiguous was that a crossup? begins:sad:
I’m pretty much just pulling this out of theory fighter, but shouldn’t it be possible to OS block/super by doing a negative edge reversal super while continuing to hold forward? If it’s a crossup, nothing will come out and you’ll block, but if it’s not, you’ll super. Sure, they can punish your recovery if it was a good safe jump, but it’s better than eating a TOD and instant losing.
hilarious match up. knees everywhere and so easy to punish missed tiger shots
vs claw and dict, i tend to jump a lot more using Sagat. his uppercut doesn’t have great priority so i find if i can anticipate dives/flying across screen, a j.mk/hk or mp works great to stop those. you need to use a lot more of the normal moves w/ sagat to overcome his lack of priority. and, yah. don’t overuse his tiger shots…high or low.
sample match of me vs my buddy’s claw:

vs gief: mix up his tiger shots big time. bait for a jump and punish with s.hk immediately followed by hk tiger shot for an extra chip/push back.
sagat’s got some decent shenanigans i find. a tiger knee (either whiffed or light chip…not a meaty one) followed by a lp. uppercut is a great bait that works on most ppl. to mix that up, do a same knee then a throw usually works , too. don’t underestimate his tick throws either. works great to mix it up or to add pressure
one thing i want/need to perfect is the timing of using HK tiger knee to go over fireballs…can;t do that consistently right now.
Like zass said you must be able to dp dic every time, it’s actually not that hard. VS claw use j mp it completely stuffs walldive unless they grab you from behind.
Using tk in any situation other then punish will lead to a quick death because it’s very unsafe on block.
I’m having trouble with the sagat vs blanka matchup, how do i stuff his jumping medium punch? seems to knock me out of all my tiger uppercuts
You have to space and time it right. If blanka does a deep jumpin then dp should beat him clean but if he jumps from far away use st hk. Both of these methods require a bit of timing and spacing so until you know you can use these 2 options consistently you should stick with jmp as long as you do it early it should beat out all of his jumpins.

BTC is one of the best Blanka players in the US, and as you can see in that vid, he doesn’t use the j Jab/Strong a lot vs Sagat. Why? Cuz like Zoo said, you can Uppercut the hell out of it. I find Blanka’s j Short to be more annoying, but even that can be stuffed.
Wow his spacing on the dp’s was perfect. As awesome as Daigo’s sagat is I noticed he too suffers from greedy chip syndrome, not even the top players can resist going for that extra fb that they know they shouldn’t:rofl:
