You have no reason in V.2012 to use Sagat instead of Ryu now since Ryu is better than Sagat at everything other than:
-Slightly more health
-Better DP Trades
-Brand loyalty to the Tiger Corporation
AKA: Back to Super SF4 all over again but an even slightly better Ryu

Eric Hai, one of the better Ryu’s in North America believes Ryu is the best in the game now, and with the Yun/Yang counter pick to Dhalsim the rest is history.
Ryu was better than Sagat in Super, he could beat Gat in AE and he’s better in 2012. This match up hasn’t been 5/5 since Vanilla. Anyone who has ever played a good ryu knows Sagat can just be walked up on. Ryu has the sweet spot against Sagat where his jabs beat all of Sagat’s SPECIALS and it’s perfectly spaced from all Sagat’s pokes in the corner.
I still find it more fun to play as Sagat so I won’t care, Ryu Can’t zone better than Sagat, watching those Japanese Sagat zone + John Choi is amazing!

Mike weng is a gdlk ryu bodied marn and beat jwongs rufus and adon…but he was able to run it back with balrogs footsies at a smaller tourny I was at this year. Plus he is my boy lol.

mmm, problem is , people shouldn’t be letting Ryu close ground. I can’t see it being 6-4 Ryu. No way Ryu is even close to being as hard as Akuma.

ryu can just kind of walk you down though. it’s not as bad as akuma though, yeah.

To be honest, most characters can just walk Sagat down, that’s the general strategy. It’s up to Sagat to either Zone well or use his normal’s effectively.
I don’t think there are any changes that dramatically effect Sagats match ups, if anything Fei, Yun, Yang and Akuma got slightly easier. Guy, Ryu, Adon might have got slightly harder. Vipers probably still the same.
Sagat’s arguably in the best position now than he’s ever been. If they fixed that corner Ultra he’d be in prime shape!

I was just watching alot of replays of some top japanese players vs bison. Ive noticed that most of them use low ts to zone out bison. Is there a reason for this?

Couldnt the high ts do the same thing? I thought the high ts recover faster anyway? Just curious.
Bison can slide under high ts. Alsop if bison reacts to ts instead of jumping as your throwing it you can late dp him.
