im trying to learn a non charge char and sagat seems the msot fun .
so whats good to do when people are close in? only thing that seems to work is ducking fierce.
so far sagat seems all about tiger spam and focus dp(sort of got the hang of it, focus, triple :df: . i’m trying to really really come up with some new strategies but i always get owned by jumping and me not really being quick enough on the dps hehe.
Im still having issues w/ the first one, no matter what i do a keep getting a s.hp after the first c.lk. I dont understand the speed or timing of this OS input any tips?
i read that strategy thread and was pretty helpful! made some progress tonight! beat a b rank ninja girl, won 1 match vs a b rank blanka that can do combos and 3 ryus hehe!
my problem was i was using low shots and low mk a lot. low jab really counters lol.what i need to improve on now i guess is linkking low jabs. i just cant press my buttons fast enough to link crap lol. in the training room later i guess will see if i can try standing up after 1st hit and link to something a bit easier so im not countered after his fast jab counters hehe.
I wouldn’t spend too much time trying to get the timing down on the cr jab links… it’s a 1 frame link without a counter hit. Work on your bnbs and you will be 10x better off in the long run.
Brand new Sagat here. Apologize if this is answered in another thread, but I’m curious on something:
TU, FADC, F+RH, U1. Does every char have a different timing to hit this? I seem to have a harder time hitting this on Boxer than any other char. Tried vs Gief, Guy, Cammy, Dictator, and Boxer. Working to get that combo down. Any tips? Thanks Sagat experts
Some characters have hitboxes that are funky on the way down, aka Seth & Balrog. There are more but I’m not exactly sure in the moment since I don’t have a copy of the game on hand.
From my tests of having sagat be a dummy in training mode and performing the FADC ultra combo on the entire cast, there is little to no difference in the timing. I feel it only seems that there is a difference in the timing, because of their hit boxes and fall arcs, Balrog and gouken seem to have the weirdest one of all, the best way to hit the F HK consistently for me, is to release the stick after the forward dash right before I do the FHK. This prevents sagat from going underneath anyone, and seems to either help with my timing.
I love Cammy, but it’s much harder to win w/her than Sagat (at least the way I like to play). Now I’m just trying to get down his BnB combos, pokes, etc
sure it has been asked a 1000 tiems but whats the easiest way to
tiger uc, facd, and follow up with something, most likely that kara kick. i dont really care about the ultra, just trying to do the basics right now hehe
I’m still new to SFIV, but I can tell you what I’ve been doing for practice. This applies to pretty much any combo you’re trying to learn. Break the combo down into parts and drill them over and over until you can do them. Take the TU FADC f.HK Ultra combo that you’re asking about. There are two pieces here, TU FADC and f.HK Ultra. First practice TU FA (without dashing), once you get the feel for the timing, start dashing out of your Focus Attack. You asked for an easy way to do this, what you want to do is input your TU ending your motion pushing toward the opponent. If you FA after the TU connects, tap forward once more quickly and you should dash out of your focus attack. The timing takes a bit to get used to but once you start to get it down, keep drilling it until it’s natural. For f.HK Ultra set the training dummy to jump and just practice landing the ultra after your f.HK connects. Once you can do both these parts with some consistency, put them together. Best of luck!
So recently I’ve been having a weird problem. My TU>fadc>f.RH>ultra has been pretty solid, but lately after the f.RH the ultra is sometimes not going off. I’ve checked the inputs in training mode and they are correct, but half the time the ultra wont even start. I have even witnessed it doing super instead of ultra, even though input shows 3x kick on it. (And yes i have ultra refill on in training :P). Is it possible to do the input too quickly after f.RH for it to not work? Or should I hesitate with the 3x kick? I’m trying to figure out what my brain is doing differently, j/w if anyone has run into a similar problem.
you are holding onto the HK too late. It’s negative input is why the super is coming out probably. also, if you are holding down HK too long, you can’t get the 3ks out either.
I was wondering what other sagat mains do to, sonic boom -> wall jump happy seths. I feel like i can TU the wall jump but i cant, is my timing off? or should i just focus the boom and dash back…but i think his qcb kick catches me. Just puzzled by it…
Hey, guys, new to Sagat, and I need a lot of help. Him and Rufus are the two other characters that I’m working on to become better with, but I’m having such horrible luck with. I really need to know the Sagat basics and how to not be bad.
I know that:
I can TU, FADC, f.hk, U1 for the most part.
I know about his basic (?) combo/blockstring of c.lk, c.lk, c.lp xx whatever.
That j.mp is good for air to ground, j.hp air to air, j.mk/j.hk seem good for both, and j.lk for cross ups (?).
I can kara his f.lk into specials, but not TSs. If I try to TS I get TU/TKs instead. =[
I’m having a really bad getting the c.lks to link, and I’m really having a problem getting up close in a situation with Sagat in the first place. I feel as if I’m the character getting zoned and beaten up all the time.
Any advice that works for those? Anything appreciated.
