I still can’t do kara tigershot…
What’s the best way to learn this shit?
I do the -> lk motion and then put the stick neutral and do fireball, but yet a DP or TK still comes out.
Do I do the fireball motion at the VERY END of the -> LK?

That’s the general idea. You gotta play around with the timing since it is tricky, but either way I couldn’t think of a situation where you could use F.lk kara TS to your advantage. Seems like you’re just adding 10+ frames to your TS start up for the sake of adding 10+ frames to your TS start up.
If im knocked to the ground, wat move shud i do on my way up:
when my opp is directly on top of me?
when they move back a little?
You don’t understand.
Slow shot forces him to do something. If he is at 34 screen or more, he should never eer be able to touch you after a slow shot. You can demolish anything he does on reaction. Just do TK, HK, or TU depending on what he does, the spacing and by your own judgement.
im a newb, wat are the most immportant I should things I should practice, and tips to employ?
sigh
Nothing. Block, back dash, jump away, maybe uppercut if you have meter. But to be honest, everyone expects a sagat to do something stupid on wake up. When I play seth and I get a knock down on a sagat player, I dash up to their face, look like im gonna grab them. Then just block. Stupid ass sagat player DP’s, and I combo them into stun. They think “oh boy, free DP on a character with the least health and least stun in the game! HE’LL NEVER SEE IT COMING!” then it’s over.
You need to play each match differently, there is no 1 right answer, it depends on you opponent, on your ability, and what you did / did not do earlier in the match / mind games. When on the floor, consider your options, consider what option your opponent will pick, pick your option that counters his option. 90% of the time it’s block.
Baiting and punishing properly gives you a 10-0 advantage against shitty Sagats.
c.lkx2 > c.lp xx TU
Is fierce TU the only one that connects? Jab whiffs when I try it
I have the same problem my Jab TUs usually Whiff too.
I have a question about when your trying to space. When there at mid screen, do you anticipate the jump or do you throw a shot because sometimes there at mid screen and I just don’t know if I should throw another shot or just wait for him to do something. Usually Il just wait it out but when im vsing another Shotto they start throwing FireBalls at me and I don’t usually jump in so I don’t know if I should just block or throw shots.
Also When St.HK trades (which it seems to quite a bit) what can you hit with when it trades?
Hello,
I have several general questions regarding Sagat. But first, let me explain briefly how I’m currently using this character.
I’m using s.HK to prevent my opponent from jumping at me (f.HK is harder to do for me due to its timing). Low and high TS are used to prevent my opponent from coming at me, it is also used to make him jump (usually punished by s.HK). This is very easy to do and very powerful against a lot of characters. At high range, I’m quite good. Nevertheless, at close range, I suck so bad. For a certain time now, I’m abusing of s.LK and c.LK but it rarely hits. Against Ken and Ryu for example, I’m always eating a counter SRK when hitting c.LK. Let’s go with questions:
At close range, what is the best “combo” ? In terms of safeness but also damage (if it hits). I’m using c.LK > c.LK > s.LK > c.TS or TK but as I said, I’m punished by counter attacks. What I don’t understand is when I need to stop the combo if it is blocked from the start in order to avoid counter attacks.
How to deal with Blanka, Boxer, Claw and Dictator ? With all of them, I have crappy ratios such as 1:3 up to 1:6. The problem I’m experiencing with them is their style of gameplay. Most of the time, I can block their long range attacks but can’t counter attack. The only way I found was to anticipate their moves by landing a TK for example. As for Boxer, I can block but everytime I’m trying a counter attack, I’m punished.
What is the timing for FADC ? Two days ago, I was able to FADC 1000x in Training (still not in real fights), but now it’s not working anymore. The move I’m training is this one: s.LP > TU >> FADC. The problem is the FADC. Several questions come: how fast do I need to push on m.K+m.P after the l.P (TU) ? Does it need to be instantaneous ? Is there any shortcut to perform such combination (is it easier to push or release the button…)
Thanks a lot for your answers. Please notice I searched the forum and found many useful information but I still need some more for these specific questions.
EDIT: Oh and here is my Gamertag if anyone will to train a bit their Sagat’s: hasta666. Feel free to add me.
which win quote # is “they call me the king for a reason”
Stomp, My sagat is becoming very successful lately so Il try to help a bit with your problems.
IMO opinion at close range If you can hit confirm a c.lk c.lk then I would do a Tiger Knee, this pushes him really far back and puts Sagat back at where hes best, Full Screen.
Also Mixing throws in every know and then when there close because Once again it pushes them back.
I also like to do Cr.HP and S.HK because they both push my opponent back a bit
With Boxer I havent had much problems, Throw a Shot and get ready to uppercut If you See he TAP. You have enough time to throw an uppercut if he TAPs around a shot (especially slow ones). Also S.HK if you see his Dash Punch at you, it stuffs him everytime even EXs.
As for Punishing. I don’t really block blanka balls because when there at full screen its sometimes Obvious so just get ready for it and UpperCut it on reaction.
Sagats main weakness Is his speed, because none of his moves come out really fast or have the greatest range its not easy to punish moves like Blanka Ball, thats why Blankas do it a lot because besides Boxer I haven’t seen much that can Punish it unless you stuff it which is pretty easy
if you can hit confirm a c.lk, c.lk then always TU. more damage and leads to ultra. you can jump back if u want to regain distance anyways.
c.lp, c.lp xx lk.TK (safe) is good for upclose.
Cross up Tiger Knee
All of the regulars have seen this video by now.
Has anyone gotten cross-up tiger knees down. I’ve spent 30 min to an hour trying to figure it out and I can’t hit it. I am using MK tiger knee because HK looks like it goes too far. Is MK the correct tiger knee for cross ups? Will it hit if an opponent is holding neutral (like the training dummy)? Or do they have to be holding “back” and walk into it? I’ve tried both and neither are working for me. Does anyone know what the trick is?
I think its just really really specific spacing.
Thanks for the tips guys. I will try these ASAP. Btw what can you do against a guy playing Ken or Ryu when he’s putting some pressure on you with c.LP, c.LK followed by HDK (I don’t remember the correct link, but this should be straightforward for you to understand me) ? Is there any way to land a TU in-between and when ? After the second block ? These are some very basic things I don’t understand. Because against Ken’s for instance, trying to counter with c.LK or c.LP seem to be useless as Ken moves seem faster than Sagat (or I’m missing the correct timing).
looking at frame data this blockstring does not seem frame tight at any point so unless i’m wrong (i’m not positive because i’m in class so i can’t test like i normally would). It looks like you only have about 1 frame for the move to come out though.
However, it’s usually a bad idea to mash out tiger upper in the opponent’s strings like this because it’s 1) unsafe so the risk/reward is out of whack in the opponent’s favor because it’s so punishable and predictable, 2) some moves that hit low and are up close beat tiger uppercut on very early parts of the startup with this sort of timing. I know for a fact that Zangief’s c.lk beats tiger upper. Tiger uppercut is not as invincible as most sagat players like to think.
random tidbit: I bet you can punish the close haduken on block with HK super (3 frame startup, the hk one goes farther). Not 100% positive but frame data says it could be possible. I’ll test in about 30 minutes and post back.
TU is completely invincible for 5 frames, and hits on frame 5.
If a normal stuffs it then it’s hitting Sagat after those 5 frames.
pretty sure it’s character specific. ie, it only works vs elf. I tested it on ryu, and the knee whiffs regardless of timing. either it crosses up with no hits, or ryu’s wake up sprite pushes sagat back on his side, not crossing, but not hitting.
i also tried on rufus and sagat i’m pretty sure, it was a while back when i tested this.
I remember hearing once that Sagat TK had longer active frames in the Arcade version not sure if it’s true though.
But its a japanese video so im assuming it was done on a arcade lol
