That makes no sense. How can he better when he lost fundamental things and engine changes hurt him too. He may be still able to compete due to AS, but to say he is better is nonsense.

He is better in ssf4. They tuned his damage. A glaring advantage doesn’t make him worse. Its balance.
I mean, lets hope they improve his footies some, because his dmg is what was masking is disadvantages.

If you are comparing them as characters then he can’t be better.
Now you could say in relative terms his tier spot hasn’t changed since everyone was adjusted not just him. Losing st.short cancel alone and having to use AS to do damage relative to what he used to be capable of means he is worse.
Is that horrible? No. It’s just logical. And there ain’t shit wrong with everyone having a chance. I’m just calling it as I see it.
Edit: See now if his FOOTSIES are better, then I could get behind saying he is better.

Do any of you know the damage specifics on AS TU and AS EX-TU? They seem to do insane damage. I’m with Alioune, I think Sagat will be better overall.
Less BS, more strategy. Sagat can still do insane damage, but he has to earn it this time, and even then his damage potential seems to have been increased thanks to AS and its properties.

Btw Sagat’s close hk is now special cancelable , and still forces stand on hit .
He didn’t lose s.short cancel. They just don’t allow him to cancel on the 2nd hit. The first hit still has solid range.
Alioune is a pretty sick Sagat player from what I’ve heard and seen so I’ll take his word. Especially if he has new things he can cancel off of like his s.HK.

Yo, I heard he has increased recovery time on high shots. Do you think so from what you have seen after messing with him? Also do you notice any hit box changes on any normals?

Not everyone on this forum find balance fun or exciting. Not saying I am one of them, but pointing this out for reference. I see a varied cast of characters at tournament level pretty damn interesting as a player and as a spectator. Some would prefer a small list of characters that are wildly broken, but fun to play even if this is only a third of the cast.
Sagat still has the tools to be top tier, definitely not better than IV, but I seriously doubt people will walk over him. Especially in the hands of players that have mastered him. As for Akuma, I don’t think anything Sagat has gotten will assist him in that matchup, but I think changes to Akuma might influence it in subtle ways.
You can have balance and not be tame.

I’m all for balance. I’m not for boredom. But it seems AS juggles let’s Sagat keep the fun factor in his gameplay so meh.
