Play better people. At mid level yeah Sagat is gonna dominate. Things aren’t so clear cut once you start getting better and your opponents get better. Match-up dependent as well.

You still don’t get the point man. in SFIV Ryu, Sagat, Cammy had 1 hit uppercut. If uppercuts were traded with j.hk or j.hp the one who performed uppercut got better off because jumping hk is around 100 dmg on average
That’s why the Turtle Fighter IV was established along with the uppercut trades
And it doesn’t end there, after the uppercut trade you could to Ultra and Ex-moves
Now the uppercut trade dmg is limited at 100, people are more likely to be aggressive

Now when the shoryukens trade Ryu will not be able to perform Ultra; only Sagat can still pull off Ultra

Not only that Ryu’s Shoryuken priority got harshly nerfed

And don’t even mention ken about getting his HP shoryuken priority buffed, you can mention him when he gets Jugglable ultra and Tiger Shot fireball (ken’s EX shoryuken got dmg nerfed from 240 to under 200)
I think Sagat will be fine, he’ll just take more brains to use. Nerfed DPs are nerfed across the board, this isn’t just an issue for Sagat. DP had messed up risk/reward in SFIV and they could be mashed too. So it’s good that they are taken out. Trade Ultras was stupid, don’t think anyone will miss those. Sagat’s damage needed to be nerfed. The fact of the mater is that he had a really good zoning game, and he a good up close pressure game. And not only was his up close pressure good, he could out damage half of the cast. Sagat has way too much room for error, and an anser to every situation. He did big damage, and his opporunity to inflect big damage was always there. And if you damaged him it pinched him. So the nerfs seem resonable to me.
I mean there is nothing wrong with now having to think with a character. Sagat's footsies are suppose to suck, it's suppose to be his core weakness. He wasn't ever meant to be a rushdown God. He simply had good zoning tool, good keep out tools as well. On top of that a good rushdown, and on top of that good damage AND good defense. So you had a guy with almost every chance in the world to damage you, plus if you could play on his weaness (poor footsies) he could still safely DP you and make up all of the damage in the match. Bottomline there were a lot of subpar Sagat players out there who didnt know how even use him how he was intended.Do really think I care about what scrubs think? You’re the fucking retard.

sure he’ll win in a local tourney or something where the competitive levels arent as high, but until he rapes high level tourneys as bad as 3s chun/ken did, I am just convinced that we have just become a nation of scrubs and whiners. In beginning to intermediate level of play he is so strong because of the amounts of mistakes that are made which really allows sagat to shine. All they really needed to do was fix that and take away the damage that he did.

I don’t envy the guys who have to make him worse at mid-level while keeping him the same at high level.
Ken can connect full Ultra off HP SRK when his opponent is in a jump state, or on a counter hit. With invincible HP SRK, he should be able to do so reliably.
This is a pretty valid point. SFIV is a very well balanced game, yet so many people talk about the God/Top tiers in this game like they were Magneto, Sentinel, Cable and Storm.
Its because this is their first fighter. They probably played MvC2, but never at the arcades. They did not experience the madness of team MSP, or Sagat in CvsSnk2.

ST O.sagat is the only sagat that is unbearable in the hands of a moderately good player. There are more annoying things in CvS2 than Sagat. I.E. Blanka, repeated cross up with j.mk would drive scrubs crazy.

It is. Not to mention that it is also the easiest SF in the series. As games go more mainstream and picks up a bigger crowd, first timers and shit will all bitch and moan about the first “challenge” they encounter.
Top tiers have existed in every single fuckin fighting game ever. It just blows me away (although I really shouldn’t be surpised about it) with amount of QQ and whining that Sagat gets in SF4 when compared to past top tiers, he isn’t that bad. Sagats lose all the frikkin time.
I do not nor have I ever used Sagat as my main, and personally I don’t think we will see nearly as many Sagats in SSFIV. I say this because of the fact that most of them have said that they just use him because they have always liked him…BS!!! Lets see how many people switch to Dudley instead now that Sagat has been nerfed and is no longer a “GOD tier”. It’s going to be somewhat like “oh I just use Dudley because he is awesome” or “I just think his play style is better” its going to be the same thing and I’ll bet half of the people who used him as their main character are going to switch. Not necessarily to Dudley but they will switch. Most people who used him was for the sole reason he was grossly overpowered and they all refused to admit it. So all I have to say is that everyone who said that they used Sagat and he wasn’t overpowered will have to eat their words and decide whether or not they will still use him or switch to someone who “isn’t overpowered”
