It’s because of the angle of the jump in. When Guile retracts his leg is hitbox is no longer anywhere near Ryu. So the part of the dp that hits on frame 3 does not come into contact with you. It’s not a “true” safe jump since you aren’t right on top of him, but it creates the same result.
Similar to Chun li’s jump in set-ups on Ryu as well. Having more to do with hitbox placement then actual frame data.
Anyone who does not see the Sagat V Akuma matchup is heavily in Akuma’s favour has NEVER played a good Akuma. Everything is all well and good until you get knocked down… then it’s pretty much a 5-way guessing game, all of which carry the very real threat of stun. Shit, the only reason this match is arguably 5-5 now (I personally believe Akuma takes it 6-4) is because if Sagat hits Akuma it’s getting nailed by a howitzer. In SSF4 I’m going to fucking dread this matchup cuz Sagat is pretty much free after an untechable knockdown.
Please unless you have played a truly GDLK Akuma you cannot know how skewed this matchup is against Sagat. This post was aimed at them dudes talking like they know.
Fucking beat me too it dude, I wrote a long one aswell and just saw your post. NOONE HERE HAS PLAYED A GOOD AKUMA!! The match is in Akumas favour in high level play . So many scrubs too much time IMO
Didn’t mean to start one I was just replying to the people who said they wouldn’t complain if the top tier was someone with a high learning curve or someone who required high execution. If I rape you with Carl or Rachel you aren’t gonna care about how low Carl’s stamina is, or how bad Rachel is on defense, or how much work I had to put into that match or even into learning the character. You’ll only care that I won, because my characters are sitting pretty at the top of the list.
tl;dr: The point is, if a character has advantages, people will complain. “Oh, if only Sagat was harder to use, I wouldn’t mind him being so strong” is complete BS.
It sounds like Sagat got it as bad as the replay system that should have been. Poor patchy, I liked him as a top tier. He at least looks the part and doesn’t seem strange as god tier with the horse dick and all the muscles.
after angry scar, i think u can do forward hk > kara TU fadc… probably more things , ill test next time i get to play the game.
edit:will also test angry scar TU trade > angry scar > kara TU for 360 dmg
tiger knee > into TU (angry scar)etc…
AS’ed TU has juggle property , so u can do TU fadc angry scar TU
Lol just thought about some cool stuff .
St hk is super cancelable in sf4 only , so u can only cancel st hk by SUPER , or focus
Now in ssf4 st hk is also angry scar cancelable , so maybe angry scar is considered as a super .Theory fighter :now if u could cancel a special into angry scar (dont think capcom are that generous but that would explain all the nerfs along with that angry scar) , u could do stuff like TU angry scar cancel TU , or TU angry scar cancel forward hk .I did one time st hk angry scar cancel cr lp it dit 2 hit but i dont remember if it was on counter hit or not . The thing is it would be a TU way better than the TU fadc we know , with frame advantage on block. Well if anyone can play the game before me and test if special are AS’ cancelable , that would be interesting
Interesting… Seems to be alot more propertys to the angry scar then we realised. If it raises TU’s juggle potential then some interesting things can be achieved indeed. AS fw hk kara TU sounds pretty cool
Or maybe they just made St.Hk cancellable into all special moves? Another thing, why would you want to do TU > FADC > AS TU? I’d rather save my FADC for ultra, rather than AS TU. But hey, thats just me.
Unless AS TU launches the opponent higher or something?
I think it does actually. I agree that Sagagt is going to loose to akuma hard since some of his more damaging moves are lowered. That is what leveled the playing field between the two and now akuma has just as much damage as him plus everything else in his tool bag.
