I dont know if they will, it depends on what kind of characters they like. For example if seth, dudley and juri were top 3, I wouldn’t main any of them cause I dont like the characters. Someone like ibuki, guy or cody I would be happy with as long as they have enough options to win kinda like viper who is only mid tier. Of course there will always be some people who will learn the #1 character whoever it is.
…I wonder if capcom ran out of development time. They haven’t really buffed many characters they said they would. Even with gameplay changes they haven’t done like making jumps faster or changing throws, etc. Some of the old glitches are still there…Not sure what to make of this
Looking at the changes (even though most of the changes aren’t what people were expecting), it seems like SSF4 will have an S through B- tier list with alot of characters bunched together in upper mid.
Oh, and just a thought, since this thread has become even more overrun with trolls:
All of you that were losing to SF4 Sagat with half stamina remaining will, OH MAH GAWD, still lose to him in SSF4. As has been said before, his tools still work. If you couldn’t get in on him in SF4, you still won’t in SSF4. Happy hunting.
People dropping Sagat? Never thought I see the day that happened.
Because of his lower damage and scary TU.
Characters are more free to jump in on him for lesser risk.
Sagat’s damage was one of the big part of his game as he has or maybe had great comeback power.
1 mistake and it could be half to a quarter of your life.
Plus they can jump in deep so trades won’t occur to help them out.
We will see what happens though. Lower stamina and lower damage isn’t looking too good for him.
He still has his tools though and can still be used effectively. He isn’t a free win.
Actually, while the system was slightly abused, yes I do miss it. At least with the rep system you could identify trolls on sight without reading their nonsense.

Sagat is not easy mode. I MAIN Guile, so I hate Sagat just as much as everyone else, but I do not ignore the fact that he (like every other character) takes skill to play. If a Sagat player wins a tournament filled with good players, I don’t say “Oh of course he did. He plays Sagat.” I say, “Damn, that guy wrecked everyone cause he was the better player.”
Exactly. Fuck this shit where everybody tends to look down on people who happen to play the best characters in a fighting game. Even as a Vega player it pisses me off. Especially in a game like SFIV, it’s your skills that matter aside from a few specific matchups.
Sure, Sagat does take skill to play. With these nerfs he’ll hopefully require some more skills though, putting him closer to the rest of the cast in terms of balance and effort.

I’ll still probably sub him. I’m practicing so much with him now for some tournaments coming up, I hate to just drop everything I’ve learned and am learning to pick up not one but 2 all-new characters. I’ll run Sagat main and sub juri for a little bit, then switch to maining juri once I’m good enough with her. I hate to drop my 'Gat-man.
Again, the way you’re speaking, you’ve never played fighting games outside of SF4, or at least at a high enough level to realize that Sagat in SF4 isn’t that bad. He’s strong yeah, but what makes him really scary is the random damage factor of his Ultra (which is another thread entirely).
There are way, way stronger characters in other games. The only reason why Sagat in SF4 pisses people off more than other top tiers in other games is cause his Ultra damage is ridiculous. People getting out footsied / out zoned the whole match (other games) are not as salty as people who were winning, guessed wrong once, and then not winning anymore (SF4).
