I never find Ryu that broken,just had many option.
If they fixed some bullshit like trade hp srk ->ultra1,and reduced the damage of AA lp srk->ultra1
and srk->fadc->ultra1,i see him really good but absolutely not broken
About Sagat healt nerf i still don’t get why is that bad.
Let’s watch the criterion that they use to chose hp-stun in SF4
Seth= tons of ways to not be touched,high priority,combos etc -> Capcom give him low low hp. OK

Zangief= he’s slow and need ever to get close,is supposed to be hit a lot -> Capcom give him high high hp. OK
Sagat= he got the tools to not be touched,keep the distance and punish HARD who try to force theyr defense,high priority -> Capcom give him high high hp. WTF?
Yea, i like sagat as top tier because he actually has weaknesses. Alot of other characters would be so much worse in the top tier position it’s not even funny.
Honestly if they just disallowed sagat and ryu from FADCing their uppercuts on block you see alot of matches get far closer to even
yeah i rather have Sagat as top tier too. The last thing i want is the 8/10 ppl that already play Ryu online to become 9/10.
I would rather face an Army of Sagat’s than an Army of Ryu’s anyday. (I main Vega so I have the izuna loops on my side lol).
However, in all honesty I think you’ll be seeing an army of Ibuki’s, Cody’s, and Makoto’s in SSF4. Though with Capcom’s supposed balance tweaks to all characters, lets hope that there is more diversity to overall character usage.

As a Sagat player the only thing I have to complain about is the bad reputation people who use him get.
It’s never bothered me… whenever I get hate mail or whatever I just ignore it and move on. Trying to rationalise it to them is pointless.
i dont know about Sagat players getting bad rep for using him, but the way i see it is people in general dont really give a shit if a Sagat player wins but if someone uses Gen, Sakura, Fei, Dan, Rose and whatnot and wins or does successful at a tourny, they pretty much guaranteed themselves an interview with Oprah.
Sagat should have been weaker up close in SF4, and his lk nerf should accomplish that in SSF4. My problem is with TU.
His TU only does 10 more damage than ryus in SF4 (except EX, but how often do you see sagat do EX TU. reducing damage in SSF4 is a silly nerf. They probably only did it because of angry scar, but it’s still unreasonable.
Well Ryu’s DP is nerfed, assuming the damage is split by half from the two hits (HP VERSION), sagat would still do more damage than ryu from a DP FADC Ultra.
Up until now i’ve never seen an army of sagats, he’s a harder character to use and for inexperienced players he’s easier to take advantage of when fighting against. I’m really, really curious as to what would have happened if they just negated ryu and sagats ability to FADC on block and changed nothing else about sagat.

Then I’d expect them to get rid of EVERYONE’s ability to FADC on block. I really wouldn’t care about that too much. I like random FADC ultras, mainly because of how much I’m sure they frustrate my opponent, but I could play without them. That would raise a lot of charge characters in tiers I’d imagine, and lower every character with a DP.
I play against an expert Sagat who doesn’t allow me to use the izuna loop technique because of that very reason. But since you rarely see any Vega’s at high-level play, most people are inexperienced against it and get caught. Even if you argue that expert Sagat’s won’t get caught in loops, you can’t deny that landing an izuna on Sagat is cake compared to the rest of the cast. You can toy with Sagat all day doing Walldive Feints from full screen trying to bait Tiger Shots. You can also bait a late TU by faking a loop attempt and punish with EX-Walldive.
Point is, its much easier to do shenannigans against Sagat than Ryu, for Vega atleast. I would also argue that he’s harder to master. I have more respect for Sagat players than Ryu players. Though he did deserve some slight nerfs.

s.lk cancel into TS is really his best option for spacing. Taking that away strongly hinders his footsies game while leaving stuff in like massive damage F-RH x2 ultra just puts more emphasis on him being a gimmick character
