Sabin SF4 Japan Q/A - match of the day: Barfights II

I know Japan is very different, for example writing stuff down in stores is usually frowned upon because they think you are comparing prices and don’t want you doing that.

I would imagine that the arcades wants you down to the arcade so you can spend money there, either on drinks or games, since you are giving them nothing sitting at home watching youtube.

@bold: thats usually the same here in the states with company’s that are a bit larger than say your “mom and pop” stores. (and even then the corner store down the street might get mad at you for it)

Arcades in Japan are more popular, therefore run with more of a corporate tone to it. whereas here in the states (applies to most arcades not all) are homebrew “Johnny down-the-street opened up an arcade dude!”-small business and don’t want to shy away any potential customer. thats my take on it anyway. I Haven’t been to arcades in japan though i have lived in hong kong so I guess what im trying to say is, that they MIGHT be similar (jpn/hk arcades)

But as stated by Arturo, some places allow filming while others dont. it’s universal, some do some don’t. 50/50 mixup on filming wuuuuuuut!

on topic: enjoying this thread! glad (one of the) trolls got busted!

How much japanese have you learned, sabin? Can you read it at all now?

My left middle finger is fucked up, but I’m gonna try this anyway.

I probably should have lost the Chun mirror against Kuroneko. We were both fighting pretty evenly going into the last round. I was watching his super meter, because Chun’s super punishes EVERYTHING. We Chun players tend to abuse sweep as a poke, and Chun’s super can punish a BLOCKED sweep. I had been watching his meter, but either he gained a full bar and I didn’t notice, or I’m stupid, but I threw a sweep that got blocked. He tried to punish with super, but must have done it too late, because I was able to block. The trade off for 2 frames of startup is 14 years of recovery, so I was able to counter ultra FTW.

The Gief I fought against…he had that No Fear Style…basically, he just keeps moving forward no matter what, and eventually you end up in a corner. NEVER where you want to be against Gief. I got creamed the first round but adjusted somehow.

I could have taken the first round off RF, but I couldn’t clutch it out and he took the V. That’s why he’s a top player and I’m not.

Reno held it down, OCV’ing that team the first time and taking out their first the second go.

Watching Sabin play, I can definitely say he can hang with these guys. 30,000BP in one month fighting against nothing but top players is nothing to sneeze at. Yeah, he won and lost some, but everybody loses in this game. Sometimes people act like the top Japanese players don’t lost, and that’s not even remotely true. Get the SBO DVD, Gosho makes Mago and Nemo look like scrubs. Sabin had win streaks, and even matches he lost, it was by no means free. So haters should STFU.

Oh, and I can’t believe there’s a fuckin MAID CAFE right in the middle of a-cho now. That’s new, I didn’t see it there last month. And there’s a monitor connected to the action, so you can get fried chicken and coke served to you by a Japanese girl in a maid outfit, and watch SFIV while you eat and play Dragon Quest. Ridiculous.

Oh, and a few pics.

Doubt it hahaha, sure katakana and hiranaga is easy to read but not kanjis, even if he tooks japanese course. Maybe an intensive course (4-6h / day) for 2 years would do.

the question is:
hey sabin, is it hard to nails japchicks without japanese knowledge :D?

lol sabin’s japanese is gdlk

holy shit that looks pretty dope lol maid cafe + sf4

Wow, I am absolutely going to Kyoto on my next trip!

OH MY GOD

Im saving so much money for this Japan trip…

mark my words: I will be there!!

that place is too fucking godlike

Can you confirm the name of the blanka player mentioned above?(if it is chari?) What moves is he doing that you haven?t seen before? And you said vids?

If he already posted it I apologize, can someone direct me towards them thanks

Based on Reno’s last post at VC, it’s either fax Gimoto or Chari. Both are solid. New shit, that’d be cool to see for sure.

Is Justin Wong MC’ing the tourny in the 3rd pic or what? lol

Justin Wong doesn’t know Japanese.

All azn people look alike…it’s ok.

so anyways…
i am gonna start my trip to japan tomorrow evening… guess i m gonna reach tokyo on the
23rd.
following a tour so might only get to go bigbox around 28th… anyone wanna meet me there??
i guess sabins not in town

im only gonna be back on 27th onwards… anyway you sure you wanna go bigbox? that place is rapecity lol

well i guess the phrase “learn from the best” comes to mind
meet me there on the 28th?
good to have a fren there

more like “get raped so hard by the best you don’t even have the slightest inkling of what you are doing wrong”

i’ll try, cant promise though. get back at me later.

lol yeah. or “get raped so hard and know what you’re doing wrong but still get raped again by people who have wayyyyyy better execution than you and leave with money enough only to get back home and never return again in a month”

going to bigbox for sf4 is really a double edged sword for me… (especially when them goukis are around beasting)… you can learn stuff from watching/fighting people there, but if you’re not strong enough mentally, might make you wanna quit that shit or just stay at home practicing your execution till dash comes out

man getting raped so bad is the best way to learn don’t underrate that shit

not underratin nothin man, you just gotsa experience it yoself numsayin? especially when it costs mad money. things can go bothways IMO. it can be either damn good or pretty bad. (dependin on ur mindset obviously)

though ive said this before, i’ll say it again, bigbox aint where beginners should go and play to learn the ropes thats all. plus if you’re anything below advanced, you’ll proly just go there to get raped for free. which can be a downer especially if it costs you a lot energy and money-wise. i mean, you dont really go and fight with heavyweighters if you yourself is a featherweight or suttin lol. proly good to get ur ass smacked every once and then and learn from stuff, but when you’re on a totally diff level, sometimes it can cause more harm than good.

woohoo dont wanna derail the thread though so move onnnnnnnnnn~

That maid doesn’t look happy at all. This is nothing like the hentai videos I watch.

EVERYTHING I KNOW IS A LIE.
