Sabin SF4 Japan Q/A - match of the day: Barfights II

sako has a pretty GDLK akuma and viper. his execution is pretty insane, can do hk lp loops all day like nothing on akuma and everything on viper…

I like how over there, an Akuma of that calibre isn’t even known.

Here, he would be one of the top 5 Akumas, if not higher.

Going to spend next few months learning vortex, brb.

EDIT: Alright, that was Yuu. I take back the first part of my post.

Still learning vortex.

Ultra chip win at what did you try to do to avoid it?

I know Ex Yoga blast trades and it’s not in your favor, 3p teleport makes you reappear on the ball if he holds it.
Good to know, from dash distance (so where the ground hit won’t connect) when the ball rises right above you, back + mp beats it clean.

Nice matches

Impressive Sabin, 15 game win streak & in bigbox, big ups to you. Oh, were there any big names like Mago, Daigo or Iyo there at that time? Just curious but regardless if those guys were there or not it’s still really impressive to have a 15 game streak going.

& also, absolutely love this thread, being able to get to know the Japanese SFIV scene a lot more was a real treat .

Oh man, no wonder you got beat.
That Akuma was Yuu?, dude is quite a tough character.

Wonder if it’s the same Yuu who was one of the worlds best Feng players in Tekken DR.

You’ve posted in English before… for those of us that are not bilingual, what does this talk about?

Feng Yuu spells his name ??, Akuma Yuu spells his name ??
So I doubt it.

Those matches vs that gouki were pretty alright. Good stuff Sabin.

Well yeah, I didnt say he was a random Gouki, I just didnt know what his name was. Thanks for telling me who he was. Hes at BIGBOX quite a lot, and hes the Gouki player next to Tokido that gives me the most trouble.

For the record, the final score was 3-2 him before I had to catch the bus to Osaka…but yea the bigbox staff shut that shit down, so im sure people will think im free cause its youtube =/ Also at bigbox, no Daigo Mago Iyo (hes retired remember?) were not there…but BIGBOX pretty much always has quality comp, it just so happens I wasnt recording at that time. On that note, Id like to make a few blanket statements:

 1. There is no best player in Japan. Period. The skill level is too fucking high for there to be a absolute best. Sure there are players that are BEST in the country with their characters (but a lot of debate tho), or one of the best PLAYERS in the country, but there is no absolute best player. Because of the format being single elim and the sill level being so high anyone can win/lose on any given day. Of course there are players that are more consistent than others but…its not like the USA where Justin will run a train through the whole USA at least 90% of the time. Skill level is more evened out here.

 2. Just because they arent a ‘name’ player, doesnt mean they arent as good as shit. There are a lot of players that you have never heard of or will never hear of (and thats one of the reasons why I’m here, to tell you aout them lol) BIGBOX and other places have a lot of random no-names that could place top in US tourneys no problem. Doesn’t mean they cant be beat or anything, I can beat some of these no names pretty consistently and vice versa.

 3. I know the Youtube syndrome is rampant and people believe only what they see on youtube, but it isnt the end all be all of everything. Honestly that Blanka I played against wasnt all that great, but I see some of the comments on the vid like ‘Sim beats Blanka 6-4, look at this video as proof’! all he can do is stand FP and he cant do shit! etc etc etc…which is something I dont even believe. I mean I have a video where I basically make Uryo look like a random scrub…does that mean Sim vs Viper is 6/4 sim? not really it just so happens I played well in that 1 match. But yeah… I actually think Blanka gives Sim real problems, just we havent gotten to that level yet with Blanka where we can give good sim players trouble. Like I said before,

sims only ‘advantaged’ matches are against shotos
every other match, sim has to work at least 2x as hard (not impossible to win, just saying its a uphill battle)
japanese had him ranked as low tier the whole time and said he was only good vs shotos for the longest time. now i pretty much see why. the char ‘sucks’, i can still win, but I have to bring my a game at all times.

okay back to bed, like i said im a little sick lol, too many cigarettes, too much playing and beasting lol.
and im not at my apartment so i wont be able to post vids until at least tomorrow at the earliest

pz

Awwww, now it’s a pipe dream to hope Iyo comes out of retirement. Thought Iyo was still active after that 5v5 tourney lordaborigine posted. Nope apparently not.

which is pretty normal, dont know what people where expecting otherwise? thats like the whole reason why japanese arcades are so awesome.

English:

Both Daigo and Mago are scared of fighting Sabin and avoiding playing against him.
Are they really that scared of losing to him?
The truth is that all the famous players at Big Box are avoiding Sabin because it would be too embarrassing as a Japanese player to lose.

Sabin, don’t even read youtube comments. Honestly, if anybody would want to prove, that the internet is the worst place for communication ever, he would pick a few youtube comments and be done.
Deactivate those if you really care about that stuff.

Also, it would be pretty funny if it’s true what hyde is saying.

this hyde lools korean.
everyone can play daigo and mago if they use 50yen in bigbox.
sorry. but the difference between daigomago and sabin is toooooooooo huge.
nobody think sabin can be grandmaster level in japan.
and daigo&mago is best of all grand masters.

this is the truth.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Just stop, hahaha.

Why are you still here?

yea truth hurt american pride I know lol

Actually, it’s just one more thing that he doesn’t have the experience to speak on.

Where are you did learns English is speak?
