Sabin SF4 Japan Q/A - match of the day: Barfights II

wait, Sabin is coming to Osaka? wtf? when?

Does Uryo play at a-cho? What is the name on his card? I could have sworn I played him, but my Hiragana is terrible <_<

I dunno if he plays at A-cho but when I asked him, he said Avion, so whatev.

Im pretty sure his name is just “Uryo” in hiragana.

How popular is Fuerte in Japan? Are there any notable Fuerte players other than Tetsu and TKD?

Thanks a lot for this thread

at all the places I played there a VERY little fuertes and Vipers, like countable on one hand :frowning:

Wait what’s the Gootecks quote??

I have a question, How are the E.Honda’s overseas regarding dealing out max damage and overall crazy shit they do?

My Honda game has upped a little bit I still see a ton of attacks that haven’t been explored yet.

Oh… thats a shame, both characters are very fun to watch and very different from the rest of the cast, hope they rise in popularity with time. I guess they are both tough to learn and use so that might explain the lack of popularity… but man, ONE hand!!!

Well it just don’t make sense for Viper and Fuerte players to come in droves like Yun players do in 3S or Eddie players do in Guilty Gear. Especially when there are easier to use and less risky characters that are either the same tier or higher than they are. Viper and Fuerte both have potential (Viper more so than Fuerte) but they have to be played at their absolute highest level to be borderline high mid characters. Just ain’t good enough for characters that can sit on ridiculously easy set ups for Ultra and have better normals. When you play one of those characters you put the effort in to have options that other characters don’t and be the random factor that everyone must respect. In the end though SFIV’s BS is always coming to get you towards the later half of a tournament.

HEY ART, sim vs sim if you know what i mean <<

You know what I’m gonna ask you Art.

Do they have XvSF there?!

Hope you’re having fun man:)

In regards to sim, my impression on the Japanese players is they use the 50/50 wake up mix ups alot less than here in America. Is that just a skewed view from the videos I’ve seen or are the Japanese players less sheninagin/trick based?

I’m at a random wifi spot in club sega shinjuku with my blackberry…don’t have time to answer everything.

Mr and ohayo1234 are going to trf in nakano tonight to play in their weekly sf4 tourney at 8pm. Please watch out for us!

To the guy who asked if I had trouble with Vega based off online play from Ireland to the us…please. My xbox GPu glitched out while we were playing then it red ringed. Didn’t wanna drop though otherwise you’d just call me a dropper. Online matches aren’t really meant to be taken seriously.

Emil please get a Fucking clue and step outside your house. Stop assuming what the jp players think and don’t think when you never come out to play.

Hav, I saved up the stimulus just for my Japan trip. Life is just fine.

Reno I will be in osaka in September.

Will post more later tonight now I wanna go play.

Sabin,

I’m not sure if you can answer this, but I would like your personal impression. What is it about Japan that makes them take fighting games so seriously? Is it for example, the scene? Is it because of rivalries, whether they be domestic (ie. rivalry between local arcades and/or cities) or global? (ie. rivalry against the US) You hear about Japanese players sleeping in the arcade being socially acceptable; maybe it’s just part of the culture. But what I really want to know is how come their commitment seems to be so strong?

Over here, I understand top players are going to put in the time. 5 hours a day, 5 days a week no problem. But what really fascinates me is what really drives players in Japan to take such an extreme approach to dedicate themselves to fighting games. Thanks for the clarification.

BEAST answer. You’re tearing up this question thread, man!

I’m pretty sure that every time I read one of your posts I grow more hair on my chest.

I never expected them to come in droves, I totally agree with you that they are tough characters to use and need a lot of practice to be good with. But, I was hoping that there would be more players in Japan than a one hand count, since they have a LOT more for other characters. I am just hoping now that by time we will see more players trying to realize the full potentail of Viper and Fuerte, because I think we haven’t yet to see the absolute best of them. For me, nothing more fun than watching either a Fuerte or a Viper (especially a Fuerte) beasting on some high tier characters at high level play :lovin:

Sabin

Have you played any good Blanka there? What can you say about the Blanka, Dhalsim match up?

So true lol
Thanks for the share btw, I hope we will see those improvements in a near future (a TRF maybe ?)

Kane warhead, I just got back from playing mizoteru randomly at shinjuku sports land. This nigga has the best blanka in the world, lol. I will update later, eating dinner and found another wifi spot haha. I see why they consider this match 5 5, he’s the first blanka I’ve played that forced me to bring my a game.

I’ve read on these forums ppl complaining about blanka and how he sucks…when they haven’t reached the Max potential with their main. Dude had a 73 percent win ratio!!

Also remember me and kim will be playing at nakano trf in 1 hour! http://Stickam.jp/profile/momisage

Hey, sabin

cant wait to play you at china town fair when you get back.
